Anya does not normally spend much time on the Skyway, but anyone might have noticed she's been going out more than usual over the past week. Sometimes alone, sometimes dragging certain Nobodies along because it is in their best interest.

The goal of all this? Safety and education. She is being awfully generous and using the resulting shards to buy a large quantity of condoms. Not just for herself, but for the Bastion's population of should-be-hormonal teenagers and the like.

If you look like you've been through puberty, Anya is liable to approach you. She's not going door-to-door or anything (she doesn't care that much), but if she sees you around the Bastion, better be prepared for a probably awkward conversation.

Patchouli has found herself a relatively quiet place outside to read in. She most likely would not like to be interrupted, meaning YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO IT.

Of course, she probably will respond in a sliiiightly grumpy manner. She knows these things already, and she is not liable to have sex any time soon. Yeah, this might be... not the most fun thing ever, Anya. Oops.

Anya may, by now, be aware that interrupting someone in the midst of an activity is generally frowned upon, but what she's doing is more important than books.

"Hello," she says to announce herself, and promptly follows up with an outstretched handful of condoms. "I'm handing these out today." Maybe trying to make it a short interruption is her idea of courtesy? Or maybe she's just being as blunt as usual.

Patchouli looked up from her book briefly to see this stranger handing out condoms. It's kind of hard to really come up with a coherent response to that, honestly.

"That... that is very kind of you." Patchouli didn't really have it in he to explain to Anya that the odds of her needing one were probably pretty slim.

Anya beams at that response, faltering though it may be. "Thank you! You're the first person to say so. Someone even threatened to punch me in the face."

"That just seems like a waste of energy," Patchouli responded, "to hurt each other. Unless, of course, it turns out they're actively harming us."

Then, by all means, Patchouli would be fully willing to knock them off the edge of the skyway. But until that time comes...

"Doesn't it? Especially when I'm being so thoughtful."

Anya would probably be willing to push a man off the edge of the Skyway for less than 'active harming,' but in this instance both threatener and threatened are women.

Patchouli wouldn't be willing to let that stop her. Also, in this case, 'knocking them off the edge' would probably be a little closer to 'collapsing the ground under them.' But that's completely unrelated.

"I can understand being uninterested, but even then, that type of response is kind of extreme."

"I know! She could have tried a simple 'no thank you,' or just taken them to pass on to a friend if she was so certain she would never need them. I'm glad you understand."

"Absolutely. That is what I intend to do -- keep these until someone I know wants one. I don't see myself ever using them."

For, well, several reasons.

Anya nods as if in understanding and then asks what she presumes to be the only legitimate reason for this to be so.

"Are you gay?"

"Yes," Patchouli reported with a nod. "Well, there's that and the fact that I tend to keep to myself -- meaning I'm probably not likely to take many partners, of course -- and that I have kind of a low sex drive, too."

"That's unfortunate-- the low sex drive, I mean, not about being gay. That seems like a smart choice. Most men are despicable, it must be nice not to find them attractive."

"That's certainly one way to look at it," Patchouli responded. "It does help alleviate a little strain, not having such an issue, not thinking to yourself, 'This person is absolutely impossible to like on any level whatsoever, why the hell am I attracted to them?' Or, for it to at least be less common."

Anya looks thoughtful. "Maybe I should try it with a woman. They do say there are some things you can never know without giving them a chance. It might be fun."

"Well, yes, I'd imagine it's a little difficult to be sure of whether or not you'd enjoy that without doing it.

"Though, to be honest, I'm not sure how much more I can advise you in that area."

"You're a lesbian. Do you find me attractive?"

Anya doesn't feel that she needs advice so much as a willing participant to this experiment.

"I don't find you unattractive, but I'm not really interested."

Patchouli paused for a moment, actually, to reconsider.

"Well, for the time being."

She smiles, since that's more than she's gotten from quite a few people who claim to have low sex drives.

"We have only just met. I'm Anya." She sticks out her hand to shake. No condoms in it this time. "You just let me know if you ever change your mind."

"A pleasure to meet you," Patchouli responded. "My name is Patchouli." She extends her hand to meet Anya's.

Anya shakes her hand firmly. "Nice to meet you, and thank you for the consideration." Of potentially being her introduction to lesbianism, that is.

Patchouli pauses briefly, at kind of a loss as to how to respond to that.

"Certainly, Anya."

"Well, I have more condoms to hand out, so I'll let you get back to whatever it is that you're reading. We'll talk again later."

"Alright. I'll talk to you later."

Well, that was pretty awkward, so she was glad the conversation ended -- but it certainly wasn't terrible. Anya seemed pleasant enough, and rather considerate!
