[At about midday on Day 278, the taller of the two teenage Ura comes running in to the Bastion from the Skyway. Anyone who has talked to this pair of boys will know how odd this is, because they are usually inseparable.

He's out of breath, but he will call out as he runs towards the monument.]

Help! Help, it's Zee, he's- He's in trouble!

[YEP here's Zee1, out of breath, asking for help. Find out what happened here.]

What happened?

[Crona was just about to go out on the Skyway, so the meister is absolutely ready for a fight. Time to go kill some monsters.]

[bastionpc]

[Zee1Vee is still struggling with his breath, but he tries to answer.]

We- we were looking around on the Skyway, looking for shards to try out that monument thing, right? Well we found this huge orchard.

[Guess who heard 'orchard' and came running?]

Pyth's Orchard, right? [Zulf looks a bit alarmed as he comes hurrying up, hands hitching up his skirts just enough for him to hustle.] I know where that is- people went to visit it during the Harvest Festival.

What did you run into?

Yeah, that's the place.

Well...we found a big mechanical Pyth, and Zee wanted to try riding it...

[But why.]

[Ryu comes rushing up, sword at his side.]

Take us to him.

[His healing isn't great, but it should be able to hold someone together long enough to get them back.]

At the Orchard

[Fortunately, at least a few people were able to move out quickly and head to the Orchard, so Zee is still alive when they arrive. Unfortunately, he has been knocked unconscious and is currently dangling off the side of a giant mechanical Pyth.

Why danging? There's a rope tied around Pyth's middle, and his foot got stuck in there. And this mechanical bull, which used to be attached to the ground, has somehow uprooted itself and is now patrolling the area, much like a real bull would. It seems to not realize that Zee is attached to it's back right now.

Vee addresses the group with a hushed whisper.]

Please be careful! That thing is really dangerous, and will start bucking the moment anyone gets close.

[Now the PCs have to figure out how to stop the bull without hurting Zee in the process, either by hitting him on accident or enraging the bull to the point where it tramples him.]

[And just for that, Zulf will grab the back of Aoi's jacket firmly.]

[Stay right the fuck here until there's a plan you wild child]

[Her attempt at stepping forward and saying something gets cut off with a backwards stumble and a choked ggggggkkk noise.

[Oh Althena dammit, seriously? Thank you for being sensible Zulf, because in so many other ways his expectations have been exceeded in the wrong ways.

Okay. Okay. Time to take a deep breath, suppress the urge to facepalm, and think about this logically. The thing is mechanical, right? And what's the thing most likely to disrupt machines?]

Just so we're clear, how likely would a bolt of lightning be to stop it long enough to allow someone to cut the boy loose and run?

Gods, don't electrocute it! Zee's attached to it, he'll get fried too!

[Oh right, the people here are a bit more delicate, aren't they? It's not like he was going to use a full-powered strike or anything...]

Well then, do you at least know if it relies mostly on its vision, or does it have other senses we have to worry about?

Back at the Bastion

[So.

The few people that ran off to help Zee?

About half of them are coming back in various states of half-dead.

Medical help would be a good idea.]

[Ghaleon arrives first, appearing directly in front of the hospital. Sure, he probably could have appeared in one of the rooms, but it's a bit harder to be quite so accurate when carrying another person, and he'd rather not risk ending up partially in a wall.

No, he just walks in like a normal person and sets Zee up in one of the rooms in the fast healing wing and begins work on treating the boy's injuries. If Zee wakes up enough, he's going to get very strict instructions not to move or fall asleep again, and probably a few grumbled insults to his intelligence if he listens closely while Ghaleon cleans and heals his wounds.]

[Zee's mind is fuzzy from everything that happened, but he will listen. For now. He still has questions, though.]

Where's Vee?

[Good. Best not make the healer grumpier than he is.]

Back with the others. They should be along soon enough.

[ Speaking of some of the others, Moon sure did just fly out of the skyway entrance, and straight to the hospital.

And hasn't shifted back as he ducks inside.

Oh hey people. Here is a scaly lizardish man poking his head into the room. ]

[Once all the ruckus in the hospital has died down- idiots patched up and healed as best as the Bastion's residents can provide- Zulf and Colin finally return from where they lingered at the Orchard. It's everyone's favorite religious stoner who goes right for the hospital. There's a mandatory check up on Crona and Ryue before he drops by where Vee and Zee are.]

[Anyone in the immediate area, whether working to help the injured or cleaning up or just attracted, is in for a treat.]

I cannot BELIEVE you would display such flagrant disrespect for the Pantheon like that! Pyth, especially so! Insulting any of them or their avatars on this earth is a foolish endeavor, yet you would go after the Wakeful Bull? Did no one teach you proper respect for the divine!? With the things that he's done... You're fortunate that we were able to do what we did, and that the Lorn Mother and two of her children laid Pyth to rest.

When you've both recovered, I expect both of you to go to the Shrine and apologize to the first son!

[Zee at least has the sense of mind to look sheepish, but Vee is the one that speaks up.]

We weren't trying to disrespect him! We just wanted to ride him!

[Too concerned about everyone there to leave, Aoi's been lingering about the hospital, chattering with the others and fetching things.

As soon as the yelling starts, she springs to her feet from the chair she's sitting on and whirls around. Today's events wore away her patience.]

Would you leave them alone?! It's been a long enough day already!

[amnesiadragon]

[Ryu gets up very carefully from the chair he's been resting in and walks over towards the ruckus. He looks apologetically at Aoi, before speaking up.]

I don't know about your gods, but I know that I'd forgive them.

... Maybe what they did wasn't right. Maybe they do need to apologize. But I'm sure they feel bad enough already.

[And just as Zulf went off to track down the little trouble-makers, Colin's bringing the possible core to track Nathan down. If it's not useable, he'll still learn something new.]

Hey Nathan, I've got something I need to ask you about.

[Nathaniel had been tinkering with the radio tower some more, to try to improve its range, but he stops and comes over to look at whatever it is Colin has.]

Yeah? What's up?

[Colin reaches into his pack and pulls out the discolored shard/core.]

Someone decided to get cute with one of Pyth's bulls.

The power source had been stripped out, and this was inside in its place. I can't even begin to guess whether it's useable, or if we want to throw it over the edge and not look back.

[That. Is actually something Nathaniel has never seen before. So he will be inspecting the core carefully.]

...huh. I don't think I've ever seen a core that looks like this before. It's almost like it's been discolored or something.

[Curiosity is getting the better of him.]

We could always test it before putting it in the Monument? Just to see if it's alright. I can't imagine anything could be wrong with it, Cores function pretty much the same even when they come in different colors. Though the swirling pattern is new to me.
