Day 270 ♊Fuck off, assholes, can't you see I'm flowerpicking
Who: The Helmsman and Disciple
Open: Closed
When: 270
Where: from the Tower to the Skyway
What: The Helmsman is on now on a mission, and he's dragging his favorite cat along
Format: Prose
Warnings: Psii's mangled quirk and language
As was becoming slowly custom, Psii had gone off on his own to lay in grass and wander around a bit. Unlike other times, however, he's actually done something called "social interaction" and, well, that's just about changed everything for the plan today.
It's best demonstrated when he returns to the hive, glancing inside only long enough to make sure that Disciple is both there and awake.

And with that, he starts to float right back out of the apartment.

"Hey!" She grabs her knife and stuffs it into her belt, stumbling over the furs still piled around her, "Wait up!"
no subject
Still, at her call, he does pause by the stairs and look back.

"...Is flowers a euphemism for something or are we literally going to pick flowers?"

"...Okay sure. Why are we flowerpicking?"
no subject
Wow that explains so much, he knows. He waits until they're down past another landing before explaining further.

She rolled her eyes but held back judgement until he explained. Huh. Someone--weird. He went outside and talked to someone.
"Oh? What are we decorating for?" Act casual Di. Don't act too happy or interested or the Psii will flee.

A party that might actually be genuine, too. He's far from unfamiliar with... 'diplomatic' efforts, but most of the time it's just a means to an end. This, too, is a bit of a means to an end, but the end result doesn't involve genocide of an entire planet.

She feels a little silly bringing her knife now but she supposes she could always use it in case something tries to attack them. Or steal their wealth of flowers.
"...That's definitely not something I thought I'd be saying."

A long time ago, he thought... When they never had enough for silly pleasantries like party decorations, streamers or even just dumb cheap pointy hats, but that stubborn jackass would insist because it would make people feel more welcome if there was something, and there were always flowers so long as you knew what to approach and wouldn't kill you...
no subject
She really meant since then, since things changed, but here worked too. She'd sort of thought parties and flowers were behind her, a fond memory.

Maybe that's just the fact that he still thinks this is a hallucination talking, but there are worse things than the end of the world. He got to learn that the hard way.
no subject
She shuddered a little, shaking her head. There's something viscerally wrong about them.

Yeah, as it turns out, the donut trees and cow abominations haven't exactly given him faith in his own state of mind. Funny, that.

"They don't exactly make this place feel less fantastic to me either but I'm not accepting them as normal. In dreams, I tend to do that. You were once a seadweller and I somehow thought that was totally normal. A finface with psiionics."

She nudges him forward, "Come on, flowers for the party full of weird assorted humans and one dragon, right?"

She thought about the places she'd been so far. Hmn. Unless they pasted leaves together, streamers would be hard. Maybe they could make garlands.
"Maybe ropes of flowers? Like flower crowns but longer? Though I don't know what else we would use for decoration."

Finally, all the stairs are over and done with, and the doors are pushed open until they're standing underneath the sun. That'd usually be another sign of a hallucination, but he's unfortunately too smart. There's been too much time spent out in space for him to believe every sun will be like Alternia's sun. Instead, he just sends it a suspicious glare before looking back to the direction of the Skyway.

"Well, we'll just have to see won't we?"
And because she's actually fairly sure he could do laps around her with psionics, she cheats, running ahead before they can do a count.
no subject
Which is why he reigns himself in to be fair...
Even if that includes suddenly bursting past in a flurry of red and blue. It actually does feel nice to not be restrained.
no subject
He might have heard a frustrated whine as he bursts ahead though, like a cat. Or an ambulance.
