Day 260 (Backdated) - Homeward Bound
Who: Ippo and Ibuki
Open: Open
When: Day 260
Where: The Bastion In General
What: Ippo's home and not feeling too hot.
Format: Action
Warnings: Sad feels and happy feels and Ibuki probably
[The entire way home, Ippo had been for the most part, silent beyond a few words in response to things said to him. His heart was still beating in his ears and his chest felt like someone had trapped it in a vice.
How loud had he been yelling? How hard had he been pounding on that creature? Everything had gone by in such a blur, he didn't even notice until someone was pulling him off of the dead body so they could drag Colin out. He'd been fine of course, as Colin was wont to be most of the time, but he couldn't shake that raw terror he'd felt watching his friend get swallowed whole. A fear had gripped him so absolutely that even in the face of saving the engineer, he couldn't shake it even now.
His feelings weighed around his neck like chains and even as he came in off the Skyway, he landed hard on one knee, much opposed to his usual, more solid landings.
Even as lost in his thoughts and emotions as he was, he couldn't not notice the small tuft of brightly colored hair poking out from beneath a blanket near the entrance. Had...Ibuki really slept here waiting for him to get back? It was a shock enough to pull him from his thoughts and into the present as he walked over to the blanket and knelt down, putting a hand on Ibuki's shoulder.]
Ibuki...? You shouldn't sleep here, you might catch something.
[His voice sounded distant, even to him, as if he were listening to someone else speak, but the meaning was there all the same. He might have not been here for that plague, but he'd heard about it, and had his own fair share of sickness as well. The last thing he wanted was for Ibuki to come down with something because she was waiting outside for him to get back.]

Jeez...if this keeps happening, I'll have to keep a running count.
[He did seem to be a lot clumsier around Ibuki it seemed...maybe he was just easily distracted by her charms?]
no subject
[She rolls off of Ippo, letting out a small, happy laugh]
Hey, hey, Ippo-chan, should Ibuki carry you the rest of the way?
no subject
[He smiled and stood up, holding out a hand to Ibuki to let her join him before he made his way back towards his...their apartment. It still felt strange to say that.]
So...did I miss anything while I wasn't here? Come up with any new songs or anything like that?
no subject
Huh? Oh, nothing, nothing really. Ibuki tried to play a bit, but she ended up mostly waiting out by the entrance...
She didn't even think about songs at all! Weird and so out of character for Ibuki!
no subject
[He was actually thankful for that, if he was being honest. He could use a break from all that nonsense.]
no subject
... And there you are! Yeah! Happy ending!
no subject
[And this time it was Ippo who seemed to be the clingy one rather than Ibuki...the closer he was, the less it felt like his throat was trying to jump out of his mouth, so he wrapped an arm around her shoulder as they walked up the stairs and felt his anxiety get pushed back down once again.]
Let's keep it that way, right?
no subject
Yeah, yeah! The happiest of endings. Magical and amazing!
no subject
[His laughs were getting more genuine and less tense, he found it much easier to relax and let go of his worries whenever Ibuki was near...he didn't quite know why exactly, but maybe it was just her endless supply of optimism that made it easier to find the silver linings in clouds.]
no subject
Does it, does it?
Ibuki needs to fine-tune it a bit, though... hmmmmmmm...
"The Happiest of Endings, a Magical and Amazing Treasure of Doki Dokis"!
no subject
[It did sound like it would be pretty interesting when thrown into death metal now that he was thinking about it.]
no subject
[And there's the door to their room]
Ooh, oh, Ibuki forgot to say it properly... okay! Ippo-chan!
Welcome home!!
no subject
Good to be home. Planning on making some of those awesome omelettes again?
[To be fair, they were pretty awesome, there was no denying that much.]
no subject
Ooooh, Ibuki was thinking pancakes-BUT! But, just how waffle would it be if Ibuki didn't take requests?!
Okay! If it's Ibuki omelette that Ippo-chan wants, then Ibuki omelette is what Ippo-chan gets!
no subject
[You and your puns Ibuki, how could he not laugh?]
no subject
Anyway, anyway, Ippo-chan, you decide! Pancakes or omlette! Or both!
Since Ibuki did nothing but wait for you to come back, it's your decision! Your reward for a job well done!
no subject
[He just wanted to eat and curl up for a nap with Ibuki at this point...he hadn't slept since he'd left and he was pretty visibly worn out; it was a good thing he couldn't pass up Ibuki's cooking.]
no subject
... just kidding!
[She laughs again, giving Ippo a quick kiss before going to the kitchen to cook]
no subject
His smile faded as he thought more on that, more on himself and of everyone here. Anything could happen to anyone here, regardless of how strong he thought they were, or how impossible it seemed to hurt them...it scared him that at any point, he might not be coming back or that someone he knew might not get to see the Bastion again.
It left him conflicted; horribly so in fact to the point he had taken to staring at the backs of his hands intently in silence, wondering just how far these two fists could take him.]
no subject
H-hey, hey, Ippo-chan, you're back in deep feels mode! Why? Why?
But but, look! It's eating time! Ibuki's here to make all your bad feels float away, like a layer of dust that Ibuki sneezed at!
no subject
S-sorry, it's just been a really long day for me, I'm sure your food'll make everything a lot better.
[And he was going to gratefully take that tray of food so Ibuki could sit down next to him. It smelled delicious, to say the least.]
no subject
And, and even if it doesn't, Ibuki will still be here, Ippo-chan! Don't worry! Believe in Ibuki!
no subject
[Ehhh, forget bad feelings, it was impossible to focus on them with Ibuki right here. So, he'd rest the tray on his legs and use a few arm to wrap it around her shoulders. Even if the weight was heavy, even if things were hard...moments like this were worth all the struggle.]
