I don't like the idea of splitting up, even with messengers. It's just too risky. I'd rather have all of us alive and have one core, than to get two but have casualties.

If nothing else, we can bring the first core here and see if whatever upgrade to the Bastion we get will help us get to the second core.

I think splitting up is a risk we need to consider taking. We have enough skilled warriors that it could work.

Megaera, what about taking the cores with you back to the Bastion, once we have them? That would make the trip back only as dangerous as any other time on the Skyway.

[Colin glances to Megaera, and he shakes his head.]

Everything that can reach you will try to reach you. If I had to estimate a range, I'd put it anywhere between half a kilometer to two kilometers.

If you've ever seen an entire swamp empty out and pursue one person with single-minded obsession? You know just how many creatures that is. The only thing they want is the core. They will pursue until they can't run, or until we get the core to the Bastion.

Everything between the core and the Bastion will sense you're there if you've got a core. They will all try to kill you. I have not observed any creatures on the skyway that won't try everything in their power to get their hands on a core.

[He looks at Nathan then.]

That about cover it?

... Yes, that's definitely a very large scale of hazard. How much do the cores weigh, though? If it's less than... Fourty pounds, my teleport can carry it right to the Bastion.

If not... Then I'm taken to agree, we have no sane choice but to stick together and deal with just one.

[Chill voice aside, Megaera's very serious right now.]

I don't know the exact weight, but I think they're lighter than that? They look huge but proportionally don't weigh that much.

I prefer the odds a focused force can bring to getting one core.
notduchess: (If that's the order...)

Seconding Colin. I think if conditions are favorable enough, we can make a run for the second on the heels of the first. But that's something we can plan and be ready for, not expect.

[ If there aren't enough monsters to see Erek cloak the core, for example, they could get started on a second run much faster and with less stress. But that's not something they can control. ]
four_quarts: (Nothing much to say.)

[personal profile] four_quarts 2014-12-13 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with the others. A concentrated effort on a single core seems our best option.
notachickenhawk: (bird: what?)

[personal profile] notachickenhawk 2014-12-13 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
<I'm voting for two groups. I think we can do it. If we can teleport one back, that group can go to assist the other group and intercept monsters. Erek can probably cloak one if he decides to go, though I don't know how it'll affect senses on the Skyway. And I can morph Paarthurnax if things go badly.>

[Why was she even here? This was not Ibuki's field by any means, but there she was. It was her first time at the Bastion for a core hunt, at that]

[Not that she would be... particularly useful for anything]

Uwah...

Ibuki has no clue, and she'd feel bad for voting either way when she's not even going to be one of the people going out!

One core would just... be safer, overall, though, right? Right? More people to handle more scary monsters!

Still, still, Ibuki's not the one going out there...

[personal profile] scary_music 2014-12-13 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
NO NO IBUKI'S VOTING THE SAFER ONE!

ONE CORE, ONE CORE!!

IBUKI JUST BECAME IPPO-CHAN'S GIRLFRIEND, THAT'S ALREADY DANGEROUS FOR HIM!!!! IT COULD BECOME LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A BAD TRAGEDY ANIME WITH GIANT ROBOTS!!!

[Where did Ibuki even pop up from? No one really knows, but he nodded and put a hand atop her head, if only to help comfort her.]

Yeah...if you all think that's the best route, let's definitely just go for the one!
doctor_dragoon: (ah here it is)

[personal profile] doctor_dragoon 2014-12-13 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[And the doctor finally speaks up.]

Two cores would be ideal, but the Skyway is dangerous enough without taking extra risk. One concentrated, well-rounded force has a better chance of succeeding and returning safely.

One focused group is a better option to me.

[It's a miracle she's managed to keep quiet this long.]

Splitting is tempting, but I still feel like there are too many risks involved.
