What: As the resident sorta-doctor-thing, Yukio's taking it upon himself to gather some important medical information from his fellow residents.

[The lack of a thorough medical records on the Bastion is a tad frustrating. Yukio has bulging files on certain residents, those who need his care (or at least his consideration) more often, but the majority of the population is at least a partial mystery to him. People who don't need medical care often, or who simply refuse to seek it when they do. Heck, some people arrive without others ever knowing, lurking at the edges of things until necessity forces them to interact, and with the amount if time Yukio spends holed up in the hospital with his "homework"? There are sure to be people living right under his nose that he's not even aware of.

And that's just not acceptable. Especially after the incident with Ippo at the hospital. Even people who don't go out onto the Skyway can be injured at any time, and having some basic medical history could end up being the difference between life and death.

So, without any kind of dependable communication system, Yukio's opted to just hoof it around the Bastion for much of the day. Some people might encounter him in the Distillery, others might find him lingering around the apartments or knocking on doors. A few might even be approached in the lesser traveled fields or out of the way clearings. A very tidy-looking young man with a polite smile on his face, a clipboard in one hand, and a small otter-like Pokemon trailing at his heels, he's the epitome of professionalism (okay, except for Pokemon friend, but whatever).]

"Hello. Would you mind answering a few questions for me?"

[No worries, Zuko. These are probably the most useful questions anyone on the Bastion has ever asked.]

It's come to my attention that don't really have proper medical files on most of the people here. I was hoping to get a few basics from everyone so that I can be better prepared for sudden... incidents.

[Like that thing with Ippo. That could've been bad.]

[What are proper medical files. Did their family physician even have files??]

It sounds like a good idea if it'll help you treat everyone. I'm just not sure what you need.

[Yuki's sure that if Zuko had a doctor, that doctor had medical files somewhere. Not that they're of any use here.]

I have a list of questions, so all you have to do is answer to the best of your ability.

[He scribbles on his clipboard for a moment, writing her name and sex before looking up again. He can skip the most obvious questions with Zuko, at least. That does, of course, force him to start with the second most awkward question on the list.]

Do you consider yourself biologically human?

Y-yes, I'm human.

[She's a little thrown by the question, but... frankly, it does make sense to ask in this place.]

[Sorry, Zuko, but Yukio learned a long time ago that just because someone looks human doesn't mean they are. He copies down her answer and smiles, just a little apologetic as he moves on to the next question.]

How old are you?

[She's learning not to be surprised when other people aren't human, but she still tends to assume it as the default.]

Six- No, seventeen now. At least I should be. [Lack of seasons makes things weird.]

[Nodding sympathetically. He hasn't been around for that long in the grand scheme of things, and he's already understanding how hard it can be to keep track of things.]

Do you happen to know your blood type?

Blood type?

I'm- guessing you don't mean my blood line...

[doctor_dragoon]

[Yukio shakes his head. Let's see, how to keep this simple...]</small In humans there are four basic blood types. A, B, AB, and O. If you were in an accident and lost of lot of blood, only people with a type compatible with yours would be able to donate blood for a transfusion.

Oh.

I couldn't tell you. I've never heard of those.

[She doesn't even recognize them as letters. How are you supposed to know anyway?]

That's alright. [Making a note on his papers.] There are simple tests that can be done to determine what type you are. If you're willing to drop by the hospital at some point in the next few days, I'd only need to draw a little blood.

[The idea is kind of uncomfortable, but.]

That way I could help if someone were injured, right?

Knowing your blood type would let me know who else here could be of help to you in an emergency, as well as allow me to include you in a pool of possible donors.

I don't see any reason to refuse it.

[She's still just thinking of donating blood rather than being on the receiving end, partly because she's never had that kind of injury and partly because she has a harder time imagining herself deserving it.]

Some people are uncomfortable with this sort of thing. It's a very common practice where I come from, but I can understand how those unfamiliar with the process might find it strange.

[Don't think like that, Zuko, or he might have to get Rin to shonen-speech those thoughts out of you.]

Alright, we're almost done... Do you suffer from any allergies or chronic illnesses?

It might be uncomfortable. That doesn't mean I shouldn't do it.

[By all means, please sic Rin on her.]

...no. I haven't been sick very often.

[doctor_dragoon]

I'm glad you feel that way.

[He's smiling, but don't you think he won't do it.]

Can you think of anything else that might be important for a doctor to know?

[No, he's not asking about that scar. Mostly because it's obviously about as healed as it's going to get, but also because people tend to be sensitive about that kind of thing. No need to bring it up unless Zuko sees it as an issue.]

No. Not really.

[He already knows she's a firebender, if that's important, and the scar on her face is pretty obvious. It's just not her only one. She hesitates, looking like she's about to ask something, but she changes her mind and goes with a different question.]

Do you have anyone learning from you, or are you our only physician?

[doctor_dragoon]

[If she doesn't want to talk, he's not going to pry.]

Kohaku-san volunteered a while ago. She's able to use some sort healing magic, but she wanted to learn traditional methods as well.

I don't know her. I hope she makes a good student.

She's doing very well so far, and the more people who know basic first aid or more, the better.

Agreed. We have a lot of would-be warriors, and probably not enough of anything else.

[Yukio smiles, nodding once more. It's lucky that people don't get hurt all that often around here, or they'd all be in a heap of trouble. The plague was really an eye-opener where that sort of thing was concerned.

He glances down at his clipboard.]

Hmm. That's about all I have for the moment unless you have any other concerns.

[She's not going to ask.]

[He dips his head in thanks. Time to head off and see how many more residents he can get a hold of before day's end.]
