Spell 2: Runtime! [Day 249]
Who: Megaera D'Ashland, anyone who would be out and about in the evening.
Open?: Open
When: Day 249, morning
Where: The communication network, or out on the Skyway.
What: Redhead's first shard run! ... It will probably not be the best first try.
Format: Anything, can match
Warnings: Mild violence.
[Network, Morning]
[Megaera's voice is fairly light and calm for... Well, someone in her entire situation.]
Okay, so. I have a place to sleep, I have space for keeping what little stuff I've got, and I've got a goal: Get right back to mastering magic. That's going to take... A lot of things. Many of which I'm only going to know about as I get close to needing them.
And the best way to get things around here, correct me if I'm wrong, is with these 'shards' you get from heading out and beating up monsters. Not much other loot, it seems, unless I find interesting things out in that weird space, but that's all right.
Anyone have any particular advice for a newbie to heading out there? In particular, does anyone who knows teleportation magic know if it's possible to use it to get back here safely? I'm cautious about messing with anything involving dimensional manipulation out here without being sure it won't end horrifically. I'm sure you understand.
... Might be good to try and get a weapon, too. I know my way around quite a few, at least. Any advice there? Especially for getting magic weapons? Psionic weapons would also be okay.
[Action, Skyway]
Megaera's first trip out, ultimately, was unarmed. Though she does seem to know her way around fistfighting... At least a little. Pointedly, whenever she finds any monsters, she seems to stick to open hand strikes, using her nails as a basis for doing damage. They're decently effective... Somehow.
She'll probably either need or want some help if she finds anyone while on her travels, though. She's being awfully quick to flee, for one, which is keeping her from getting many shards.

[Amulet Network thingie] 1/2
[Guess who hadn't even figured out yet that the amulets could be used that way?]
It's not Ibuki's fault, is it?!
2/2
Oh! Ibuki sees... this thing works like a phone.
Re: 2/2
A what?
No, this isn't a trap the soul effect.

Ibuki still recommends a group to be safe!
Re: 2/2
[This seems completely obvious to Megaera.]
Hrm. Should probably grab a few fighterly-minded associates, now that I think it. If I can find anyone. This is the problem with being new in town.

Ibuki's been going with Maya-chan and/or Patchy-chan whenever she goes out for shards! They're both really good, Ibuki thinks!
Oh! You wanted to get a weapon, too, right? Try the forge, Stew-chan makes weapons all the time! They're not magic weapons, but Ibuki thinks they work just fine against baddies on the Skyway!

[Skyway]
"Oh. It's you again! I can't say I was expecting to see you again so soon," she explained. "If you need some help, let me know." She might only be able to cast three spells per day, but she was fully willing to use one or two to help someone out; they tended to be quite powerful, to make up for her lack of skill in physical combat.

"Ooh! Meg-chan, we meet again! How's your shard hunting going so far?"
Ibuki had a revolver holstered at her side, but otherwise Patchouli was doing most of the work. She still wasn't terribly good with a revolver yet, but she was doing her best to support her partner. At least she provided a lot of morale support?

It was rather rare that she got to use something that wasn't a fairly simple fire spell; usually those were good enough for a multitude of purposes.
no subject
Not much point in drawing her gun if Patchouli was just going to lay waste to all of them.
no subject
Wait, were those...
"... How powerful a caster are you, if I may ask?", Megaera responded. "That's... Way higher-level than my spells."

Skyway
Case in point: the harried looking man rushing from one of the paths looking pale and with a small herd of annoyed peckers flapping behind from behind him.
"Run."
Re: Skyway
"Right."
And she was moving right after him. Clearly, she was at least a bit more athletic than she looked...

Megaera, for her own part, was definitely booking it, trying to think of which of the spells she'd memorized today would best help in this situation. Way too many for a fireball, they weren't using missile attacks...

He didn't have a death wish, after all. Still running, he tried to remember if there was anything nearby. Birds, why did it have to be them and their stupid ability to fly? He made a bit of a left, taking another spindly path. "This way!"
no subject
"That'll buy us... A few seconds!", Megaera said, as she kept moving down the path. "How'd you set off this many of them at once, anyhow?!"
