[Day 230] We're still not dead! Time to get drunk until we are

So, in the morning, Georges makes sure to stop anyone before they can go out onto the Skyway or get a bite to eat, or basically attempt to carry on with their lives like normal. With the most recent near death experience, he seems to be aiming to be more insistently friendly, apparently.

"Hey there! I got everyone together for some drinks, well, last time since we all needed one after that and I figured why not do it again? Come over to the Distillery later today, and I'll have some things whipped up! Oh- and by the way. That Ura fella, Zulf, he wanted folks to meet up and try and figure a few things out, get a bit more organization 'round here I suppose. If you could pass this around, that'd be great!"

And, sure enough, at around noon-ish Georges has once again set up some things. There are tables just outside the distillery, the largest he could manage (which is just a couple pressed up against one another) done up specifically for anyone who wants to sit around and be responsible.

For those who don't care about or don't trust themselves with responsibility, there's a couple smaller tables scattered about both inside and outside. As usual, Georges is behind the bar with a row of bottles on display. Ask him about them, chat with one another, or just focus on getting utterly and completely smashed, do as you like.

Maybe if you're chatty enough, you might even get roped into something.

[With a moment's hesitation, she courageously takes a quite significant drink of the contents of the bottle. If you stop worrying about how it will taste, it won't taste as bad, right?

Hardly. Found a few things here an' there, but nothin' worth talkin' 'bout.

[Their search hadn't brought up anything other than the mine had been pretty much picked clean; something he'd gotten confirmed once they'd all gotten back.]

Still, jus' means we gotta move faster an' harder now t'find more cores.

[Jay tries for his most charming smile.]

When you're out of mourning, I'll be waiting.

Yes, there's no time for us to get complacent.

Where do you suggest we start looking next, then?

If y'asked me, I'd got t'The Meltin' Pot. Found a core there last time and we can find some supplies. Workman's Ward might be a place t'look too. Ain't no reason t'go places like Cinderbrick or Colford's jus' yet; no point in puttin' everyone in that much danger if we don't need t'.

The Melting Pot... That sounds good. Goodness knows we'll need the supplies at the rate things are going.

I have to say that I wouldn't mind going to the Quarry at some point. It sounds as though there are tunnels that could use some basic fixing.

If you wanna go in t'next few days or so, lemme know. It'll be nice t'go back and see if we overlooked anythin'.

[He hadn't gotten too much of a look around, so he was eager to get back and check things out a little more thoroughly.]

[He finally took a small sip of his drink and reached over to give Zulf a few pats on the shoulder, even if he wasn't directly looking at him.]

We might be in a rush, but we got time. T'stronger we can set out, t'more we can get done, right?

[That sort of response clearly wasn't what he was expecting, because Zulf looks surprised for a moment before giving an awkward kind of smile.]

You really are very sweet, Jay.

[That seems to relieve him, although he's hard pressed to say what exactly was making him so worried.]

That's right.

Do you think there's anything Zia would want us to bring back from the Melting Pot?

Well, with everything that's been happening lately... I've been thinking of taking on an apprentice.

I'm all on my own here. [For once, the usual cheerful smile on the Caels' face seems to falter and he rubs a washcloth between his thumb and forefinger.] If... anything happened to me, no one else here would really know how to make any of the spirits no matter if they had a building full of ingredients.

I've been thinking of trying to take on an apprentice, but... I'm not really sure who here would be interested in that sort of thing.

Prolly some spices an' such for her cookin'. Maybe somethin' t'help her work on her harp too if we can find anythin'.

[All in all he wasn't all too sure on this. Zia had been fairly scarce since their last encounter and he hadn't had any time to discuss things with her of any nature.]

You seen her at all lately? Feel's like I jus' keep missin' her 'round t'house.

[Kaoru has, not-so-stealthily, made off with a few bottles of the nicer-tasting spirits to bring to Seimei and Hikaru. Sorry Georges. He knows full well he will likely have to give them back at some point, but being all freshly-out-of-hospital made a certain twin of his rather more than concerned about his alcohol intake the last time around, making last party had rather been more a tasting party than one with actual drinking involved. Which was just as well, given that he had had to attend other matters.

In return, he has offered up some bottles of their own plum and anzu wines - gotta do something with all the fruits they have on their property.]

She's been about, just busy like we've all been. I had to fairly drag her out of the Bastion when the Monument was failing, you know. It was only when she saw everyone else that she was a bit more cooperative.

Sounds about right.

[He wasn't all too surprised, Zia had shown very clearly that she cared a lot more about other people. Perhaps not with the same reckless abandon as him, but certainly enough to be notable.]

Yer lucky y'got her out at all.

[It's a start, though her goal is to get him separated from it entirely.

Though she does make a bit of a face for a moment when she remembers the cliff. That is somewhere she plans on never going back to.]

Ah, well, you gotta do what you gotta do, right? Someone had to go, so...

It turned out to be for the best anyway, I wouldn't have been able to handle that bird.

Well, if you think of the qualities that would make you willing to follow someone...

I imagine someone who listens and doesn't decide rashly, who considers themself in service to everyone and not the other way around.

[Zuko's not really here to be social either, but she does take the time to track Rin down-- which isn't hard, considering the food available. She stops to lean against the doorway to the kitchen]

[Yeah, that less than stealthy snagging of booze does not go unnoticed. She doesn't especially care as long as he's not taking her bottle, but that doesn't mean she's going to keep quiet about it.]
