What: Not everyone is going to go search for the Core. Some people have to stay behind and tend to the daily things in the Bastion, after all.

[Regardless of the Bastion's current state, there are still things that need to be done from day to day. Some one has to attend to those things, and not everyone can just up and leave. Some people might not even want to leave, and there are even a select few that just can't.

So for those of you staying behind, make sure you're not strangers to your fellow survivors!]

N-No, I deserved it ... I shouldn't have taken out all of my anger on you.

[ She pulls away a little, wiping her face on her sleeve. ]

I understand it, though. I thought I was being helpful by trying to keep my spirits up for you, but I didn't realize I was only making things worse.

[He tugs his own sleeve down, reaching over to help her with her tears.]

... I wish I could keep my spirits up the way you do. All I can ever see is how bad all of this is. I don't know how you do it.

[ She sniffled again. And she hated herself a little more for it. ]

I spent most of my life knowing that I wasn't healthy and that I could die at any minute if something went wrong... as depressing as that is, it gave me every reason to not want to spend what I had of my life thinking about the sad things.

[There's a pause, and then he adds in quietly:]

But really, deep down... I did want to be like the other kids. I hated not being able to do all the things everyone else could, and being so tired at the end of the day I could barely sit up let alone do things like go to a movie or... or out on a date...

I think a part of me kept smiling because if I didn't, I would... break down crying and never stop...

[ Something within her had to have known that with his condition being so bad, he must have been really feeling awful. The whole smiling, happy guy thing ... that was all an act.

It broke her heart all over again, to know this. Right then, she felt she needed to do everything she possibly could to make him happy.

Of course, if he needed to cry, she wanted to support him, but ...

She'd rather she do what she can to make him genuinely happy. She grabbed his hands into her own, and before she could stop herself, she blurted out: ]

Let's go on a date!

[ ... wait did she just-- yes, she did.

and she wasn't going to take it back. not in a million years. ]

[WELL THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE.

Now it's Haruka's turn to be completely stunned in to speechlessness.]

[ .... CRAP MAYBE SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID THAT. Her face is turning completely red now. ]

Y-You heard me! You just said you wanted to go on one! So, let's go!

... I-If you feel up to it.

[In all seriousness though, he is excited about this. And a little nervous. He has never had a date before in his life, and this isn't exactly the most ideal place for it.

But he knows Colin would be willing to help make it the best he can for them, too.]
