As he had been doing ever since the plague had been resolved, Colin was busy at work on some project of some sort. He'd been in a very poor mood for quite some time, and had been mostly keeping to himself. The movies nights that he'd set up had been a good distraction, and there would be another one this evening, but that was at least ten hours away.

In another couple of hours, he'd set out with someone for another salvage run. Until then, he works with his head down. Someone might be able to catch him by surprise, if they remember he's got a proximity sensor...

"Exactly. I haven't had need for them for a long time, but given the challenges of the Skyway... the one I'm thinking of is known as Hidden Machine Two, which teaches Fly. Golurk can fly anyway, but it's not reliable and incredibly erratic. With the HM, it could stabilize enough to let it carry people."

He pauses for a moment, before continuing. "Probably not me, but someone of a more normal weight."

Colin studies AZ for a moment, then he turns his head to look in the direction of the Pokemon Daycare. He contemplates this, and he nods to himself.

"Golurk's strong, I wouldn't put it past him to be able to carry you as well," he says softly, the wheels of thought clearly turning in his head.

You'll have to give him a moment, he's pondering the implications of this...

"He could, but it would be more of a strain."

Oh, he knows that look. "What are you thinking?"

"I'm wondering if Golurk is the only one, actually," Colin says, his expression thoughtful. "Speed is one of our biggest restraints at the moment, keeping us from reacting to incidents faster. If we want to get anywhere fast, we pretty much need to rely on Paarthurnax or Tobias. And the latter can only deliver messages. If we could get a few more methods of fast travel, we would be in a LOT better condition..."

"Most Pokemon with wings and some that don't can fly. We can train a few of the younger ones to fly. Maybe we can make some kind of recording system that's lightweight enough for them to carry, since writing won't work. And as they get older and stronger, they can likely carry some of us."

"The young should enjoy their childhoods for a little longer," Colin says, shaking his head. "A little training is good to get them used to it in advance, but they're still developing. No sense in pushing them too hard."

He finally looks back to AZ, offering him a gentle smile again. "But this is all very useful information to have," he says. "Have you got the shards you need for the machine?"

"True. But most of them should have at least some instinct to train and battle. It's something that's common to most species." He thinks for a moment, and then nods. "I should, though I'll check with the others to make sure they don't have one."

"Good, good," Colin says, nodding right back at AZ. "The pokemon seem quite eager to help, at least the older ones do. ... Besides poor Ditto, anyway. The more we can find for them to do, the better we'll all be."

"Exactly. I see no reason why we shouldn't let them. They're companions, not lesser creatures. Legend has it that humans are just another form of Pokemon, anyway."

"That's one heck of a legend," Colin says, sounding impressed. "With some interesting and disturbing implications for science, if the pokeball tech is to be believed. But I suspect scientists in your world grappled with that for quite some time..."

He pauses, and he shakes his head. "I'm getting off-track," Colin says. "Sorry."

"It's fine. It's difficult to tell for sure, since there's only so far back we can verify. Even for someone as old as me."

"That's what legends are, eh?" Colin replies. "Just old stories, passed down and distorted with age."

"Pretty much. I know that from experience."
