Note: Some time ago, Seimei asked Zulf to write down things about the world the Calamity originated in, aka Caelondia and the Tazal Terminals. Since this information is available to everyone (although written in Caelondian and Ura), you can consider this post as a reference! It's also available as a request sort of thing, if you or your characters have any inquiries about culture, technology, or lore about either place. It'd also help me out with what to write for Seimei (and the mun of Seimei) since, when asked where to start, his IC answer was basically "everything".

Ever since returning from the sudden expedition a week or so ago, Zulf has been quiet. Not completely and utterly silent, like he's become on occasion- just quiet. There's been a lot of things to think about.

Today, however, at least he's out in public, seated by the Monument. There are papers by him, things written in both Caelondian and the Ura language. There's also some sketches of different outfits alongside them. He's steadily working on both.

Anyone is more than welcome to come over and investigate...

Assuming the large group of Rattle-tails doesn't try to swarm towards them first. Yes, they're here too, a mix of sizes. Yes, there's a tiny little Cubone on top of one of them, waving its bone around energetically. Don't worry, Zulf will give a sharp whistle when they start to swarm and they... should back off before anyone gets slammed into by a giant white bird.

After a day of writing, talking, and bird wrangling, Zulf finally finishes and goes to retrieve something. It's just a basket of things gathered up from the Skyway, vineapples and such. When he gets to a certain Ura abode, he knocks on the door.

And with that done... Zulf does the search for two of his most important people. Don't think he hasn't noticed some awkwardness floating around here.

[Hail to the bird swarm]

[The sound of Zuko protesting the bird swarm makes Zulf look up, and he sighs. Rattle-tails are much too excitable, sometimes, although he'd say that's part of their charm. He gives a kind of clicking-whistling noise, and the birds stop, a couple even backing up a little.]

Sorry about them.

[Zuko isn't quite sure how to take it, but at least they've backed off.]

Am I doing something they don't like?

[Or maybe they just don't realize that at their size they shouldn't be swarming people. It's fine when the turtle ducks do it.]

Oh no. They're just curious. If you were doing something they didn't like, they'd be rattling their tails.

...And possibling raining down rocks onto you, but they haven't done that to anyone yet so I think we should be fine.

[All right, so they're basically earthbending snake birds. Got it.]

Good to know.

[Now that they aren't in danger of smooshing her, she might try patting one.]

[Sure, let's call them that.]

[The Rattle-tail in particular seems pleased with this course of action, raising her head up to bump it into Zuko's hand.]

[Her petting becomes less tentative. And maybe headscratches? Do you like headscratches, snake bird?]

Actually, I wanted to talk to you.

[It does indeed! One of the others may get jealous and try to get in on this sweet headscratching action, however.]

[Zulf himself just raises his eyebrows.]

Really? For what reason?

[daughterofursa]

[She'll try to spread it around some, but slacks off a bit as she glances back over at Zulf.]

Well, about those other Ura.

I was with the group that ran into them the first time.

Yes, I heard about that from Tobias.

I went with a group afterwards to find them. It... went well.

[daughterofursa]

Did it?

You were able to explain that... we're not looking for any fights?

[fuckthemancers]

I'm not sure how much they believed us, but we brought something else- doses of the cure for the plague.

In another... week or so, I plan on meeting with them again with some shard amulets. I think both of us want to avoid another miscommunication like what happened before.

[daughterofursa]

[Zuko nods, still stroking the birds.]

Do you think it would be a bad idea for me to go? I'd like to apologize.

[fuckthemancers]

...Perhaps. You'd have to leave your weapons here.

[daughterofursa]

[She hesitates, and then nods again.]

I could do that.

[She'd still have her bending, and she's not a bad fighter even empty-handed. Hopefully she wouldn't need either.]

Then you should be able to come along. That makes three of us confirmed, then... Tobias wants to go back as well.

One more person is all we can afford.. I'll have to see if Colin or Tris wants to go back as well.

[Wait.]

You took Colin? And he didn't piss them off?

It helped that at the time, we assumed that they couldn't understand us and I would be the only person speaking due to the fact that I can speak Ura.

So he really wasn't given a chance.

[daughterofursa]

You might want to consider not giving him one now.

[fuckthemancers]

I was fully prepared to shove my hand into his mouth if I had to back then, don't worry.

[daughterofursa]

I don't know why I haven't thought of that.

[Well, probably not her own hand. Maybe a shoe or something.]

Well, it's really a last resort. Considering it's Colin, who knows what he would do in return...

...give me more reasons to do him harm, probably.

Mm. He's... actually not quite that bad, if you can ignore some of the things he says.

...Helpful, really. Don't tell him I said that, of course.

Not that bad, huh.

[Zuko looks doubtful, but maybe if she could ignore half of what he said... But Zuko isn't good at ignoring what people say.]

He's one of those people who doesn't necessarily mean to drive everyone mad, but it just happens... and Colin, of course, just thinks it's all in fun or for the better.

I think he does try to get along with people here, however.
