[Day 209] it's morphin' time!;

Who: Tobias and anyone who wants to play with a dolphin.

What: It's been stressful lately. It's time to be silly.

[Maybe it was due to the stress of dealing with the whole cure thing and the having to go find Ura and get back to the Bastion. Maybe he was just tired of thinking of how much he missed Rachel and the others. Or maybe he was just done with the weird animals here.]

[Whatever the reason, Tobias did something he didn't normally do - he morphed dolphin, splashing around in the lake in Dragonfield and nosing at rocks and basically making a bunch of noise. It is entirely possible for him to be seen flailing around, or occasionally in hawk morph resting. Is he going to use all of his morphs today on dolphin time? Yes. Yes he is.]

Woah!

[He's as much surprised by the jump as by the voice.]

Tobias? I didn't know you could turn into a dolphin. [...no reason to think he couldn't, though.]

[He swims over to the shallower area near Roxas, flopping down and grinning up at him.]

<I can turn into a lot of things. I don't usually like being in the water, but as a dolphin it just... doesn't seem to matter at much. It's like being a little kid again.>

I kind of.. grew up on an island. [It's a weird and complicated "kind of."] Hard to imagine not liking the water.

[notachickenhawk]

<I grew up next to one ocean or another. It's kind of hard to not like the water, but... look, you watch horror movies with sharks and learn about how the ocean can crush you like a grape and suddenly the ocean's not so much fun.>

[... Well.]

<Except when I'm like this.>

Sharks are pretty scary.

[He says this from semi-personal experience.]

But, I don't think there's anything scary in the lake, unless you turn into it.

<Well, I could. But being a dolphin is a lot of fun. You get the instincts of the animal with the morph, and dolphins are like five year olds, pretty much.>

[He rolls over into the water more and submerges for a second, before popping back up and spraying Roxas with water from his blowhole.]

Ah- hey!

[Roxas tries to shield his face from the water with limited success.]

I don't- think you've gotta be a five-year-old for that.

[notachickenhawk]

<True. But it's funny.>

[He lets out another squeaky laugh. He really needed this.]

Funny, huh?

[Roxas could probably use this kind of fun, too. He pulls his shoes off and wades in, kicking water back at Tobias.]

[He laughs a little, and extends a fin to Roxas. Want a ride?]

[Well, this is kind of familiar. At least, he has the memories, but he's never gotten a ride from a dolphin himself.

Sure, he'll take Tobias up on that.]

[It's not a huge lake, but it's big enough to fit a giant dragon and so it's big enough to do a short lap in. Tobias tugs Roxas along, trying to make sure he's not going too fast. It's pretty much a gentle ride, since he's not going to try to do dives or something with someone 'on board'.]

[A short, gentle ride is still pretty fun. Roxas even finds himself laughing as they splash through the water.]

[He chitters happily, making a sharp turn and pulling Roxas in for a spin. Whee!]

Woah!

[He is not minding that in the slightest.]

I don't know why you don't do this more often!

<After spending so much time in hawk morph it's weird to be other things for a long period of time. It also makes me a lot hungrier.>

[And then he has to find food which usually means either Skyway trip or picking some kind of meat out from Colin's meatlab. And 'dead' meat just doesn't taste right.]

[Now there's a strange thought.]

Does it- matter which form you eat in?

[notachickenhawk]

<Not really, but it's kind of weird for me to eat with my hands now. It'd be like if you could eat with your feet. Sort of.>

I wasn't even thinking about that...

[He was actually thinking about how he must eat less as a hawk, so wouldn't it be easier to fill up? But then he probably takes smaller bites...]

[notachickenhawk]

<... Oh.>

[That's slightly awkward.]

<Even with the thought-speech, I'm not a mind reader.>

I'm glad. That'd- be kind of awkward.

[He hasn't experienced full on mind-reading before, but some of Vatheon's curses were bad enough.]

<Yeah no. While I wasn't on that mission, the others ran into some actual mind-reading aliens. It was... bad.>

...I guess it'd be even worse with someone you were fighting.

[notachickenhawk]

<Well, there's the fact that the people we're fighting don't know that most of us are human. They think we're an alien race. We'd like to let them keep thinking that.>

[Roxas takes a minute trying to figure out why that would matter. Where he comes from it pretty much boils down to whether you've got a heart, not what race you are.]

You mean... so they don't have a reason to attack other humans?
