[Day 205] It's the end of the world, get drunk

What: The Cael way of celebrating everyone not dying involves booze, so drink up! (Fun fact: the Cael way of mourning may also involve booze.)

Warnings: Drunken shenanigans, likely. Also feel free to treat this like a mingle thread and not just talking to Georges! (Although he'll try to chat with everyone if he can)


So, just to double check: A cure has been found? Everyone's recovered? No one's dead? It's safe to leave the house now? Excellent.

With this fact well known, one can find Georges starting off his morning not hanging about the bar (as is his custom as the only bartender in the Bastion) but in fact setting up something in front of the Monument. Tables, chairs, some blankets to sit on when those inevitably run out... There's also something of a makeshift bar area, a variety of liquor in fascinating bottles set up along with some glasses.

Everything is all finished up around the afternoon, and Georges goes behind his little makeshift table-bar to cup his hands around his mouth so he can yell-

"DRINKS ON THE HOUSE!"

...What do you mean he technically never makes anyone pay for booze at the end of the world? Just come up and have a drink, Georges will be happy to recommend something. Or maybe bother someone else having a drink?

[Not drunk? Tris you are killing him here. But no, give Georges a second, rubbing his chin as he goes through the least.]

Well, Hearty Punch and Leechade can get you drunk, but you'd have to go through quite a few bottles before you would feel it! Like something hot or something sour?

Pleasure to meet ya! You got real good timing, just got over a little bit of trouble.

Anything I can help out with? I know a few people since I've been around here since the start, and I'm more than happy to get you all settled in.

The bartender just gives a laugh at that, and makes a swatting gesture in Colin's direction. "You can't make that kinda joke, not when I've moved everything outside to begin with!" Still, he grabs the deep purple bottle of Dreadrum with one hand and a glass with the other.

"'Fraid it won't be too fancy, especially since it's not really something I've made in a while, but if you're fine with that, I can give it a try." Something seems to hit him and he raises up the bottle as he gestures. "Actually, this might be the perfect drink to celebrate with now that everything's been taken care of."

[ Good, there is an Anna perching on it now. ]

[Ippo felt a small twinge of regret that he hadn't been around to help, but considering how disjointed he had been overall...well, he either would have been sick himself or just gotten in the way. He gratefully took the bottle and drank deeply from it, feeling the warm sweetness work its way down his throat; after two weeks of berries and vineapples, this tasted better than he'd ever remembered it tasting.]

Ahhhhh~ Thanks for that! I'm glad to hear everyone pulled through okay...but honestly, everyone here is pretty amazing, so I'm not surprised.

[With all the bright minds they had to pull together, Ippo was confident that now more than ever, they could accomplish anything.]

Sour sounds fine. Sorry for the odd request, but the only time I've been drunk, there wasn't the building I went drinking in when I woke up.

[Riiiight, some of you folks have weird powers, how could he forget? Still, Georges grabs one of the tiny little blue bottles and pours a glass for her, some of the bubbles popping on the surface.]

This is a good drink to have if you ever go out onto the Skyway again, you know.

That's true! And from what I hear, we got a few good doctors and the like with us so that just helps all the more!

[Let him just... shuffle back underneath the table to his spot, then.]

Although sounds like the group that went to get the cure ran into a bit of trouble.

I do, but... [Alright, hold on, let him just look around real quick. It'll be fine, right? Definitely.]

So Mender's Mead, then. [And yep, sure gonna pour you a glass there Duke.] Just the thing for when you need to feel better.

[Ippo took another swig of the alcohol, but kept his gaze on Georges. What kind of trouble could they have gotten tossed into this time? If someone was bringing it up...well that just couldn't be good at all.]

Colin beams, totally used to being swatted at by various people. "I'm not too worried about fancy, just as long as it's cold and sweet," he says. "There a story there?"

He nods his head to the Deadrum, curious about Georges' statement.

[Rob's voice has gotten a bit louder. It's still a bit quiet, but not so quiet that it's hard to hear.]

[...And he's not sure what to say now. If Roxas feels like he's leading the conversation... that's because he is. He might have noticed that Rob isn't very good at this.]

[ Totally alright. ]

Yeah.

[Georges' face sinks into a worried expression once again as he rests his elbows on the table surface.]

Apparently they got attacked. Ahime- the blonde lady, the one who helped drag off Kelly when we learned about the Calamity? I hear she got hurt real bad.

"I'd recommend the Bourbon, personally, if you'd want sweet. Dreadrum has a pretty bold flavor." His grin is perhaps only slightly shit-eating. Georges holds off on getting a drink ready until he's done explaining, however.

"Anyhow, Breakers and their lot, other military folks, they really used to fancy this stuff. When you're at your best, a bit of this-" He holds up the bottle. "-helps you go a bit past just that when you're in a fight."

What?!

[Ippo's grip tightened on the neck of the bottle so hard there was the sound of crunching glass, and the boy was off in such a panic that all that was left behind was a knocked over stool, a bottle of hearty punch now missing its neck, and a few drops of blood. Ippo had to get to the hospital and fast!]

Yeah. You know- [Georges makes a vague hand gesture about the place.] After the Calamity first hit. Us Caels, we've always been told that the Bastion is the place to go in case something bad happens, so those of us who were here, well, we did just that.

Ended up getting a few other folks here too, and now it's just grown and grown.

Not like there's much else out there, you know. This is the only place you're really safe at as far as I know.

[ Curiosity nearly killed the cat. And satisfaction hasn't brought it back to full health. ]

.. Mead's that stuff usually made from... honey. [ At least, home it was.
And that idea isn't that weird, so sure, Duke takes that glass and sips. ]

"Bourbon is all right, but I prefer fruity flavors," Colin explains. "Something cold and sweet with a lingering kick of energy. Hits all the right notes for me."

He listens to the explanation, and he nods. "I get'cha," he says. "Probably ain't gonna be feeling the effects of that, then. I'm rested now, but I barely slept that whole time. And I'm getting ready to hit another expedition here in a day or so."

He sounds amused at his own schedule, well aware that he's pushing himself here.

No, no- [He gives a small chuckle and waves his hand.] I meant more like warm. It's something you drink after you've warmed it up a bit. It's something called Hearty Punch- I can only give you a little bit, 'tho.

[It doesn't usually get most folks drunk on the first glass or even the second- that would take some really impressive alcohol intolerance- but he doesn't want to take too many risks with a tiny little thing like Anna.]

Hey! [WELL THAT SURE IS ALARMING. This time Georges really does just hop the table, somehow managing to avoid knocking over much- or at least any of the good stuff. He points behind him as he takes off after Ippo.] NO ONE STEAL ANYTHING, JUST POOR A GLASS! AND NOTHING FOR KIDS!

Ippo, hold on!
