[Day 205] It's the end of the world, get drunk

So, just to double check: A cure has been found? Everyone's recovered? No one's dead? It's safe to leave the house now? Excellent.

With this fact well known, one can find Georges starting off his morning not hanging about the bar (as is his custom as the only bartender in the Bastion) but in fact setting up something in front of the Monument. Tables, chairs, some blankets to sit on when those inevitably run out... There's also something of a makeshift bar area, a variety of liquor in fascinating bottles set up along with some glasses.

Everything is all finished up around the afternoon, and Georges goes behind his little makeshift table-bar to cup his hands around his mouth so he can yell-

"DRINKS ON THE HOUSE!"

...What do you mean he technically never makes anyone pay for booze at the end of the world? Just come up and have a drink, Georges will be happy to recommend something. Or maybe bother someone else having a drink?

[she skulks a little bit closer. It would be a lot more stealthy if she were actually underground but… no tunnelling in the Bastion, or her mama will get mad]

[and she will gently bite the toe of his shoe. Not hard - again, mama, taught her better than that. But if there ever was a call for attention…]

[glances left and right, then whispers conspiratorially-]

[and he holds back on making a joke about being able to clone himself]

[Jay stops swinging that foot and jumps off the bar to closer inspect the anklegator]

[He reaches out his hand, palm outwards, towards her.]

Well! What are you, darling?

[Tama-chan is Tama-chan, and Tama-chan likes everyone. She comes a little closer, gently rubbing his arm with the side of her horn. And what are you, strange, colourful person?]

[ 'Sup Edea. Hope you don't mind an ahoge derptagonist joining you nearby. After a few moments, Naegi speaks up, glancing at her curiously. ]

Hey... did you just arrive?

[ Well, Naegi'd had enough of being cooped up in his apartment after the initial outbreak to the point that once he's learned that people are feeling a lot better now, he'd decided to just come out to relax a little.

Though part of him feels bad that he hadn't really done much of anything during that time... should he be here? This thought is probably why you'll just see him being a quiet wallflower just watching all the people having fun, really... ]

[No. No wallflowers allowed in the bar. Or, if you're going to be a wallflower, at least get drunk so you have an excuse.]

[That may or may not be why Naegi will find himself being joined by an older man with a wide grin.]

Not feeling social? Might as well have a drink to keep you company.

Eh--? Ah, no, it's nothing like that!

[ GEEZ YOU SURPRISED HIM Naegi just laughs a little awkwardly, raising his hands in a defensive position before he relaxes. ]

Really... it's more like I don't feel like I really did much of anything to help, aside from trying not to get sick from whatever was going around these last several days...

So I guess I'm not sure if I should be here?

[Jeez, how long ago was this posted? Patchouli is, herself, keeping her distance. This isn't really her idea of fun, honestly.

She's kind of surprised, though, to see Naegi there. She hadn't really seen him since almost blowing him up. This puts her in a fairly... awkward place. What do you say in a situation like this? Really, if she hadn't nearly blown him up, this wouldn't be a problem and she could just waltz through this like she was following a script. But this time, nope.]

[Georges' smile seems to ease up a bit, going from "we are going to be friends if you like it or not" to sympathetic.]

Hey... don't worry about something like that. A LOT of us did just that. When something like that comes around, if you try to help, you'll just get in the way of the professionals, right? Like that young doctor.

Sometimes the best thing TO do is nothing! That's what I did. I didn't want to get either my wife or my son sick.

Even if you didn't do anything this time, there's always the future, right?

[ Indeed. When Naegi spots her he makes an awkward noise like his first thought is to run away, but he manages to keep himself from bolting right then and there.

Maybe he can just. Make small chat with her or something before leaving? ]

Yeah... that's true. I was just worried that I'd end up causing more trouble than needed...

[ Even if he did manage to keep people together back home when the killing game was going on, this was a bit much! He's not quite SHSL hope yet... ]

I'm glad that your family's all right, though! I can imagine it was tough on all of you, seeing all of this happening...

[ Ah... now he misses his own mom and dad and little sister... at least he's starting to relax a little more now? ]

Yeah, we were all really lucky. He's still only a few months old- I'm not sure if he would have made it.

[Georges frowns at the fact, rubbing his arms a bit, before he gives a quick shake of his head and tries to steer the conversation in brighter direction.]

I'm Georges, by the way- the bartender. I was being serious about the drink, too- it might help you relax a bit!

Ah... nice to meet you, Georges. My name's Makoto Naegi.

[ He grins, reaching out for a handshake, but then pauses. ]

Is it okay? I'm not... well... you know. Of age.
