[Day 205] It's the end of the world, get drunk

What: The Cael way of celebrating everyone not dying involves booze, so drink up! (Fun fact: the Cael way of mourning may also involve booze.)

Warnings: Drunken shenanigans, likely. Also feel free to treat this like a mingle thread and not just talking to Georges! (Although he'll try to chat with everyone if he can)


So, just to double check: A cure has been found? Everyone's recovered? No one's dead? It's safe to leave the house now? Excellent.

With this fact well known, one can find Georges starting off his morning not hanging about the bar (as is his custom as the only bartender in the Bastion) but in fact setting up something in front of the Monument. Tables, chairs, some blankets to sit on when those inevitably run out... There's also something of a makeshift bar area, a variety of liquor in fascinating bottles set up along with some glasses.

Everything is all finished up around the afternoon, and Georges goes behind his little makeshift table-bar to cup his hands around his mouth so he can yell-

"DRINKS ON THE HOUSE!"

...What do you mean he technically never makes anyone pay for booze at the end of the world? Just come up and have a drink, Georges will be happy to recommend something. Or maybe bother someone else having a drink?

[That was a relief to hear, but all the same Ippo felt a compulsion rise in him that he hadn't felt since his last time in the ring. He got to his feet and without any preamble, gave Zuko a very deep and formal bow with both hands clasped to his side.]

[He hadn't really thought about where he was going to go, he'd just picked a direction and started walking.]

Everything out there is so strange and different from what I'm used to...and sometimes paths would just come up from underfoot as I walked. This really is a fantastical kind of place...

What. Is. That? Hikaru's attention is quickly drawn by the - tiny, yet ridiculous - set-up Zarina has going on.

"The bugs here can draw now?"

...Considering the donut trees, actually, he should probably just stop expecting anything normal from the Bastion.

[There are a lot of depressing things, that's why she doesn't need Zuko's help getting there.]

...I don't know that it's always that simple. [Speaking as a reformed villain.] But most of the trouble you find on the Skyway.

[She may have gotten that kind of treatment before for being royalty, but not for being herself. Feeling awkward just sitting there, she returns it with a short bow of her own, fist to palm.]

I... just did what I could.

[flails his arms uselessly for a moment. All right, you got him.]

…but a lot of people would think you're only saying it because you think you have something to prove. Isn't it nicer to just… glow privately over it?

[this is actually a genuine question, though he suspects that this too varies from person to person. He has not yet smooshed the person he wants to smoosh yet. Perhaps he will feel differently after the smooshing has happened…]

[Whatever that even means really. Will there be glowing with Saix's moon powers? That could be interesting.]

Heh, well we didn't have dragons here either before Paar showed up!

Paar came here a bit back, he's been here the longest I think. Real calm guy, everyone seems to look to him. I see him sometimes with some of the others, teaching them how to talk dragon. [That's definitely the name for that language. Probably.] Definitely a good head on his shoulders from what I hear. I haven't heard of anyone having any problems with him.

I could tell you the names of the people that know him better, if you'd like.

All right, all right. I guess you kind of convinced me.

But you're still not getting your shoes back.

That's good news, at least. I'm used to fighting but I'd rather not do it anymore than I have to. It's absolutely exhausting.

[It is that simple when you're Edea. And so she hits her limit for the time being on talking about negative things. Time for a shift. She folds her arms on the table and leans forward.]

So, my name's Edea. May I know yours?

[Zuko quirks her eyebrow at that; not that fighting can't be exhausting, but that's never been her complaint about it. She doesn't comment, though, just nodding at the other girl's introduction.]

[It's not like Haruka minds. He never seems to mind, really.]

Mhm. I figured now would be a good time.

[Colin smiles and grabs a seat next to him.]

[Wherever Kaoru and Seimei are these days, Hikaru's not far behind. He's got a careful eye on both of them, and it's a bit hard to unwind when you're still scared someone is going to drop dead at a moment's notice.

As usual, Hikaru's uncertainty gets translated into obnoxiousness. He'll be hanging over people's shoulders and getting in the way of just about everyone, and that includes the guy at the bar. Hopefully Georges won't be too upset by a red-haired brat winding up on his side of the bar, poking at the drinks.]

[Hikaru is not even making a secret of keeping an eye on Kaoru. Subtlety, what's that? In fact, he's just gonna outright drape gently across Kaoru's shoulders and just. Kinda. Stay there for a bit.

Good to know you're alive, bro.]

You should try that one.

[He doesn't know what 'that one' is but you should try it anyway.]

[Although, really, Georges isn't as annoyed as he probably should be. He'll just try to gently nudge the kid away from the drinks. Those bottles are important, after all.]

[Um no why would he want to drink any of this. He allows himself to be nudged away, but still hovers within prodding distance of the bottles.]

You people actually drink this stuff?

Of course! I told you, it's healthy and good to have when you're in a fight.

...Well I mean most of it is healthy. A couple of them make you feel like you've been kicked in the face by a horse. But they're in the minority.

True. Mine seems to work just fine, since I don't drink that often.

Right, right, you already told me. How could I forget? [Tone as dry as the desert.]

Who the hell came up with these, though? What kind of person looks at a squirt and thinks "oh, hey, I really think you'd taste good in a drink"?

Soldiers and miners who really needed a drink.

Although, to be fair, Fetching Fizz started out as a prank, and then the miners and scrap workers took to it.

Just because I'm starting to like you, doesn't mean I'm going to ignore the fact that you waived that right when you threw them.

They were a gift, and you can't just go around taking back gifts.

'Fetching Fizz'? That doesn't sound so bad. What's wrong with it?

[gives a small smile - he doesn't even have to see it's Hikaru to recognise his weight. To say it was comforting would be an understatement]

You realise the majority of these seems to be made with fermented extracts of Skyway creatures, right?
