[Haruka and Takane had some time to recover, though they had been instructed to get far more rest in the hospital for a little while longer before being let go to find their own apartment and settle in properly.
But being in the hospital was never fun.
Well, never fun for some one who didn't sleep for fifteen hours a day.
Like Takane.
For Haruka, though, he was beginning to get restless, and curious. He wanted to know what this place looked like beyond the walls of this hospital. Colin had given him a sketch pad, some pencils and even an iPad sort of device that he could do digital coloring on, but he could only draw Takane's face so many times before she threw a pillow at him and told him to draw something else.
So he waited until she was asleep (which meant he wasn't waiting long) and shuffled out of his bed, finding his legs shaky but strong enough to stand on. Items under one arm, still in his hospital tunic and pants, he made his way out of the doors.
There he stopped for a bit, just to stare at everything that was around him. There was evidence of the ruined world that Colin and the others had talked about, but there was still something amazing about what the Bastion was. The moon was high in the darkened sky above, illuminating the many buildings scattered across the massive hovering chunk of land in a pale glow. It was so pretty!
But he had seen something else out the small window in the hospital room, and after a bit of searching (and slow walking so he doesn't wear himself out) he came across the Dragonfield and the lake, that same moon shining silver against it's gently moving water.
Perfect place for a boy in a hospital tunic to drop down and start drawing, right?]

[ ... Had a nightmare. A scary one. But she didn't want to tell him that. ]
Just ... get back to the hospital before the doctor notices you're gone.
[ IT'S NOT LIKE I CARE IF YOU MAKE YOURSELF MORE SICK :T ]
no subject
But... Takane, it's so pretty out here!
no subject
[ Her voice was a little raised during that, whoops. She looks away, though, her voice quieter as she speaks again. ]
Just. Before the Doctor notices.
[ She's sure Yukio would probably give him one hell of a lecture, too. She could kind of understand him wanting to be out of bed, though. She was sleeping so much that being out of bed wasn't too big of a deal for her, but Haruka wasn't her by far. He was curious about things. She couldn't fault him for that.
She was worried about him risking his health to be here, sure, but ... she could understand how he'd be restless. ]
no subject
Oh... alright. But Okumura-sensei won't be awake for a while, right? Everyone is asleep!
[Oh Haruka if only you knew.]
no subject
He's a Doctor. Do you really think he's going to be getting proper sleep while he's got two patients in our condition?
no subject
But... aren't we his only two patients? It's not like it's a super super busy hospital!
[Quit trying to logic him, too. Gosh.]
no subject
Since we're his only two patients, he'll be paying more attention to us. He's going to be up at all hours of the night, checking out vitals, making sure we're not dying, making sure we're comfortable ... he's going to be checking on us more often.
no subject
Eh--... s... so he might be in there right now? Looking for us?
no subject
[ Because she's a realist. ]
no subject
Alright... I'll come back inside...
no subject
Guh. Takane was so frustrated with herself. Why couldn't she just drag him back without feeling guilty about it?
She sighed, putting a hand to her head. ]
Well, we're probably already in trouble ... might as well go as far with it as we can.
[ And as if to emphasize her point, she plops right down where she is and stares out at the water, arms crossed over her chest. She refuses to look at him. Her face is so red right now.
Why was he so cute?!
Why was she so weak against him??
Oh. Right. She's in love with him. Of course he's her weakness. ]
no subject
Are you sure... ? Do you feel well enough to be out here with me?
[Haruka why are you asking her that, you're the one who got your heart cut in to!]
no subject
J-Just sit down and don't worry about me! Besides, your health is way worse than mine. If you're out here and you're fine, then I'm definitely not gonna keel over anytime soon.
[ Just sit down and draw, dumbass. ]
no subject
Really? Thank you, Takane!
[Why are you thanking her dumbass.]
no subject
Nope, she's just gonna. Refuse to look at him while her face is so damn red. Instead she'll just focus on the water.
... Nice water. ]
no subject
Which Haruka will go back to sketching quietly, completely unaware of Takane's red face.
After a while though, he does speak up, not really looking away from what he's doing but talking loud enough to indicate he's not simply muttering.]
Takane? What do you think happened to the others?
no subject
Didn't you hear them before? They're gone. The world blew up.
[ Saying it made her feel worse than she already felt. Just knowing what had happened was enough to send her into the depression she was in now. Admitting it even more just cemented that realization and made things worse. ]
no subject
I know. But we made it, right?
no subject
[ And next he'll say that it's possible the others survived. And maybe it is, but until she sees them, she'll continue to believe they're dead and continue to mope about it and be afraid of the one remaining close person in her life leaving her too. ]
no subject
[That's... sort of what she expected him to say. But he shrugs a little, glancing up with a smile.]
I'm glad I made it here with you, Takane.
no subject
[ She hugs her legs close to her body and stares out at the water. ]
M'glad you're alive, Haruka ...
[ Especially considering how, on top of everything else, she still feels guilty for not noticing how he was having an attack back in the classroom ...
Why did this world even think that she was worth saving? Not after he nearly died and it may as well have been her fault ... ]
no subject
But for now, Haruka is grateful that they made it. He knows he'll miss Shintaro and Ayano, and even their teacher but... there's little they can do about that now.
He stops drawing, closing the pad.]
We can go back inside if you want.
no subject
You want to stay out here, so stay out here and draw.
no subject
[Haruka you're the one out here in a hospital tunic.]
no subject
[ Srsly Haruka. ]
