[Day 190] I work until it's late [CLOSED]
Who: A dumbass teenage couple Bon and Rinchan
Open: Closed
When: Day 190
Where: Tower Apartments
What: So Bon went a little trigger happy yesterday with a Bazooka courtesy of the other Okumura. Guess who gets frequent migraines even without repeated concussive explosions? Guess who has a migraine today? And guess who gets to take care of him?
Format: Action
Warnings: Again, Rin is a warning unto herself. Also for Yukio's sake: likely chance of non violent face contact.
[Rin getting up before Bon was a fairly common thing anymore, if only because her duties at the kitchen usually required some degree of "being awake before most everyone else". She hadn't quite mastered Yukio's skill at only functioning on four hours of sleep, but she had managed to drop down from her usual 11-12 to something closer to 6. Zulf had been busy with mapping with Zayna (and probably dealing with a good deal of his own grief given what was happening with those locations) and Mireielle was spending most of her time with her newborn, so Rin had silently taken up the slack in the kitchen.
Not exactly the best way to spend a whole lot of time with one's boyfriend, but she justified it by saying that it "kept her out of trouble".
Ironic, considering just the day before Bon and Yukio had decided target practice with high explosives in the Dragonfield was a good idea.
Rin had let them go about it after a bit of yelling, but as she was about to find out, Bon wound up paying for it not in injury but in a massive migraine.
Of course Rin didn't know this when she had gotten up before him and gone to work. It wasn't until later when she realized he hadn't come down for breakfast that she hurried back to the apartment after cleaning up.
The apartment was quiet, as quiet as if no one was home, but she hadn't seen him anywhere else on her way there. Moving towards the slightly cracked door of the bedroom, she peeked her head in and called out.]
Ryuuji?

Bon has pulled the curtains shut and taken to laying on the bed at an odd angle. The blankets are simultaneously on and off of him, since he has decided that it is too warm to cover his feet, but too cold to not cover everything else. Moving hurts too much, so he is trying to keep the moving to a minimum.
When Rin opens the door, Bon flinches away from the sudden light and noise. His head is throbbing so much that he can barely think, let alone have an involved discussion with anyone.]
Hey. Close the door please?
[His sudden use of the word 'please' should show how out of it he is.]
no subject
[She has seen them a couple of times since being here, and even before the it had been mentioned by Shima, during the one rare time Bon was actually absent from class.
Careful not to make too much noise, she slipped in and pushed the door until not even a sliver of light was coming through the crack. She moved to the bed then, crouching down next to him and putting a gentle hand on his head.]
I knew yesterday was a bad idea, even with ear plugs.
no subject
Yeah, probably. But I gotta learn it, it might help us someday.
[Even if it means being useless for a day or so until the throbbing in his head goes down.]
no subject
Okay not really, but it's good that something like that can help, even a little.
She gives him a sympathetic smile, pushing hair away from his face in a gentle motion.]
You still need to be more careful than that. Maybe ask Yukio next time if there's somethin' better you can wear.
[For now, though...]
What d'ya need?
no subject
But for now he thinks for a second, trying to figure out what might help.]
Something cold.
[He frowns.]
Not ice. That's too cold. Like...a wet towel.
no subject
Okay, I can do that. You're gonna need to eat later, even if you don't feel up to it. I'll see if Yukio has anythin' that can bring the pain down some at least.
[Yeah, she wasn't going to be getting back to the kitchen today...]
I'm gonna go talk to a few people, too. You gonna be okay for like... an hour? I'll get the towel before I go.
no subject
Mmn. Don't gotta be babied.
[Not that he minds the attention, but if Rin has other things to do, he can handle himself.]
no subject
It's not "babying" you. I'm takin' care of you 'cause you obviously need it. You'd lie in bed and do nothin' all day if I didn't, and that ain't gonna help you any.
[She'll give him a kiss on the forehead before going to get that damp towel at least, returning with it to put it on his head a moment later.]
Now shut up and lemmie help you.
no subject
Kinda wish we had painkillers here. They'd take the edge off.
no subject
[He did come with his jacket and guns. He could easily have something on him for pain that he hasn't had to use yet.]
I'll be back as soon as I can, okay?
no subject
[He won't protest when Rin leaves, since trying to chase away the pain takes up a lot of his focus and energy. But just before she can duck out the door, he'll say one that thing, while actually turning his head and lifting the towel a bit so he can look at her.]
Hurry back?
no subject
I will.
[And she does try. She tracks down Colin first to speak with him briefly about the kitchen, and let him know that if he wants to do renovations now is the day to do it. She also asks him to put out some of the food that won't go bad right away for people to ala carte their meals until tomorrow.
After that it's an easy job of hunting down Yukio. explaining the situation and getting some basic pain killers from him as well as a little advice on how to help Bon further.
So she was gone closer to a half an hour than an hour, and returned as quietly as she could, going to get some water from the kitchen and bringing it and the pills to Bon.]
Hey.
no subject
When Rin comes back, though, he will poke his head out long enough to take the medicine from her and swallow it down with some water. He grimaces as he does so, though.]
That's disgusting. Just what did you get from him?
no subject
But, she won't say that.]
It's all he had on him, and unless you want somethin' you might get addicted to, don't complain. Also, you should drink that whole glass.
no subject
With that done, he'll set the glass down on the bedside table and shimmie back down into his cocoon. Once he's settled, he finally lifts up the edge of the blanket, so that Rin can crawl in with him.]
no subject
Yukio said he'd look in to makin' some of the medication in the hospital better for things like this. He said somethin' about it all bein' really... early medicine? Somethin' like that.
no subject
Bon's not sure if it's the medicine or having Rin right there, but already he's feeling better. The migraine's not fully gone, but the edge is going away from it, and he can actually think more.]
Makes sense. This place is kinda old anyway, so they'd have old stuff. Probably heroin or opium, I'd guess.
no subject
Ew. Isn't that shit like... super bad for you?
no subject
[Somebody paid attention in their doctor classes. Apparently Rin did not.]
Hopefully we'll never need it, but it would be useful for emergency surgery or something like that.
[Also, soup would be perfect for lunch. food that does not need to be chewed = easiest and best to eat.]
no subject
... maybe that's what they used on me.
[She hasn't thought about that day much since she had recovered, but the scar was still there on her shoulder - a slightly pinkish discoloration in a star burst pattern going down to her chest and creeping just so over her back. Given that she had tugged off her over shirt and left herself in a camisole before climbing in to bed with Bon, the scar could be seen easily.
It was hard to forget it entirely anyway. It was the first time she had ever been injured so severely that her body couldn't recover completely on it's own, and the first time she had ever needed any sort of surgery.
The whole thing had been pretty damn scary...]
no subject
She doesn't even have to explain that, Bon knows exactly what she's talking about. He was there, after all, and he had seen the scar just before she had climbed into bed.
Bon reaches over and slips his hand through her hair, until his fingertips are touching the side of her head, to gently pull her closer, so that her head will rest on his chest. But he'll leave his hand there, and his thumb rubs over her temple gently.]
Probably. I didn't see what they gave you, but it had to have been strong.
no subject
The motion draws out a low rumbling in her chest, not quite a full on purr but certainly a content noise. She didn't want him to be in pain, but she had done all he could for that, and if nothing else at least she had the rest of the day to be with him like this.
It was nice. They hadn't been terribly affectionate since the funeral...]
Mn... I'm glad there was somethin' there for it...
no subject
The reason he's letting it slide today is that having a migraine really limits the number of fucks he gives about other people's opinions. If Yukio burst in that room right then, Bon would be yelling at him for other reasons besides interrupting the cuddling.]
How's it feeling, by the way? Does it still hurt?
no subject
Like this, though... she realizes how much she missed it. Yukio could rage all he wanted about the situation, her feelings for Bon came long before he arrived in the Bastion.]
Sometimes. Mostly when I'm sleepin'. Surprised you didn't hear me the other day when I rolled over on it.
[She'd let out a pretty good number of swears at that between her teeth.
That was the other thing, too. Her want to hide the wound from her own eyes also hid it from Yukio, and yet if she went to him now about pain killers for it, she would have to explain what happened.
And that was something else she didn't want to deal with...]
no subject
Sorry, I was out like a light.
[Since the migraine is becoming more manageable, he lifts his other arm off of his forehead, and moves it down to lay across Rin's back in a lazy half-hug sort of thing.]
I'll need to find something new to deal with these migraines anyway, I could ask Okumura-sensei for something for you too.
