[Day 182] Boys and girls it's time to look ahead [OPEN]

Who: Everyone!
Open: Open
When: Day 182
Where: Skyway
What: More places have arrived, and one of them is coming with a little extra
Format: Any
Warnings:Talk of blood re: Hope's Peak Academy location

[There really seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why these places are showing up, nor does there seem to be any set schedule. Days can pass between the next sighting, or they can be one right after another. Either way, it's keeping the Bastion survivors on their toes.

As the announcement goes out yet again that there are more places to explore, Zayna admits something strange: she thinks she saw something moving about at one of the locations. She can't be completely sure, though, and more than once place so far has had something potentially dangerous in it - so be careful, she warns. Now more than ever they need to be careful and diligent...]

[When Aoi loops back around to reconvene with the others, her steps are far less springy.] No luck... [And Paarthurnax would have spoken up if he saw something from the air, which means she'll have to go search that classroom down the hall—and that blocked-off room, if she can find a way to it. Drat.

She glances towards the others—and oh, right, she didn't think about how completely off-the-wall this would be to the rest of them. Frowning, she looks away.
] It's...it wasn't really a real school... [Is there a good way to explain the situation? Probably not.] Anyway, we should check inside, too! Paarthurnax, if anything happens, then it's definitely okay if you bust down a wall! It's fine if this place gets...well, more wrecked.

Probably a good idea to warn us before it's done, though, so we can get out of the way if we need to.

[ It wouldn't be good for any of them to be hurt in the process of figuring things out. Emboar seems to agree, despite being the major wrecker of Hilda's team. If it hurts the humans, it's probably bad. ]

It certainly doesn't look like one, unless education has changed massively since I was a child.

I will proceed with caution. I assume you would know your way around here better, though, Aoi.
amphibian: (that's no use to me now)

Right, right, of course! [She's already jogging down the hall, carefully scanning the walls as she goes, as if something might be hidden from her.] Mhm. I can't remember if we ever used this hall, though...

[In a stunning display of thoughtlessness, she sticks her face right up against the rubble pile at the end of the hall, trying to see through the cracks, but they're too thin.] I can't tell what's behind there. C'mon!

[She ducks into the classroom, and when she doesn't see anything but overturned chairs and school supplies, Aoi goes straight to the teacher's desk at the end of the room.

Instead of going around it like a reasonable person, she leaps over and, lying stomach-down on the table with her feet kicked up, leans over to look under it.
]

Nothing, unless anyone wants some...eugh, dusty calculus textbooks. [As she lifts herself up and turns herself over to sit on her desk, she wipes dust off her face with her sleeve—has this classroom ever been used?] Think there's anything useful in here, though?

[Patchouli follows after Aoi. Well, okay, once she sees Aoi dive across a desk, she just stops, crouching down to see what she found.

Oh. A bunch of textbooks. Patchouli takes one and goes through it quickly. Nope, nothing new to be gleaned from these calculus textbooks. She knew that well enough.]
I assume these are the students' copies, since they seem practically untouched. I guess that means, though, that if we need to start a fire...

Actually, even then, I wouldn't trust the ink to not give off some kind of toxic fumes. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if we don't find anything else of value in here. Even then, it might still be worth searching, as nothing is certain yet in that regard.

[ She looks around the room. Hilda herself hadn't been in school for a pretty long while, seeing as she had been traveling for a while before landing in Vatheon. And then she just. Never had the chance to go home. But if she had, she wouldn't have been going back to school. She had other priorities.

Seeing a classroom was pretty nostalgic ... ]

Eh, I'm sure we could find other things to start a fire with ... I have a firestarter right here, even.

[ She gestures to Emboar, who grunts and shows off his muscles. Never mind that she wasn't referring to his muscles at all, and was more referring to his flames. ]

I guess we should probably search the area thoroughly, though. You never know, we could find something else.

[Aoi manages the slightest of grins at Emboar's bravado, though it's nothing like her usual bright beams.]

Yeah, yeah. Think anyone could get some use out of the pencils and pens and stuff here? [With a sigh, she flicks half a broken pencil off the edge of the desk. It stirs up a thick cloud of dust and, cringing, she hops off the desk and away from it.] Groooosss—oh!

[Finally, her tunnel vision fades enough for her to notice the gap in the other wall. There's no sight of anything on the other side, but no wall or pile of rubble, either.] Maybe...

[And she's off, sprinting down the hall without waiting to see if the others are following her. At this little spot of hope, that there's one more place one of her classmates might be, energy surges through her so intensely that it isn't until she runs into the room that she realizes where she is.

Surprise makes her shout, and she clamps her hand over her mouth. There are still bloodstains all over the room and baseballs scattered about the floor inside the batting cage; Monobear didn't even have the courtesy to clean up after himself.

She'd made herself forget about his place, stopped thinking about the deaths of Leon Kuwata and Sayaka Maizono and all the others because Hope's Peak was gone and so was everyone else, she had to move on...

That the others are likely to follow doesn't even occur to her; wide-eyed, she glances desperately around the room for or away from something, although she isn't sure what.

[Patchouli takes a moment to search through the writing tools, tossing them all aside as she decides that, no, these just aren't good enough. Eventually though, she notices that Aoi is running off. She follows after as fast as her flight capabilities will take her -- but that's not too fast, honestly. Eventually, though, she catches up to Aoi.]

What's over-- Ah!

[Yeah, it's not the easiest to make out in the relative darkness (just making an assumption here), but those bloodstains and baseballs are pretty noticeable. She doesn't have the same kind of connection to this as Aoi, but she definitely feels a bit of a chill over seeing this.]

There's... too many for this to just be an accident... Aoi, what kind of a school did you even go to?!

[ Of course, seeing her friends start running only made her want to start running, too ... but she wasn't about to leave Emboar on his own right now. Her follow is slightly slower, but eventually, she does make it to the room that Aoi and Patchouli now find themselves in. She's instructed Emboar to stay outside of the room, to keep a watch for anything else that might come near them and alert them if anything does.

She slowly makes her way into the room, eyes widening as they adjust and see the blood and the baseballs. ]

... So I was right about it being a prison?

[ This wasn't even a prison, though. Not even a prison would look like this, would it? Hilda certainly didn't know, but she did know that the sight of all of this made her feel a little sick.

She'd never had to deal with something like this before. ]
