(Day 70) [Open; like so!] Apple Gels; almost like candy but fixes those bruises.
Who: Lady"Duke" and hopefully everyone else at somepoint!
Open: Open
When: Day 70
Where: Near the monument -> Some space near the apartments, facing over the river
What: Duke would like to know things about any intended structure among the bastionites, and hopefully get some help for those people who can't fight.
Format: Action, GO HAVE FUN WITH THREADJACKING.
Warnings: HOPEFULLY LOTS OF TALKING??
[ So it probably really wasn't Duke's place to try to figure this out, but after all the missions, and the people showing up - and Seimei's comments - it was feeling like a bit of a good idea.
There was no real need for a rigid structure, but some sort would be nice. So the knight is in armor as usual, although the sword is left behind, and trying to catch people after breakfast. Hopefully Duke can gather a group, because this really ought to be a group discussion. But it all starts similar enough- ]
Excuse me. If you wouldn't mind sharing, what's your opinion on a loose structure of order? At the very least, a system for keeping track of where everyone is. And if you can't fight, are you interested in learning, or simply learning something else?
[ Because they do not need missing teenagers, or people running off alone, only to end up confronted with a creature they can't deal with on their own and someone to protect. Sorry, Rin. And really, the knight's just worried about all these teens... ]

It doesn't hurt any less after three days, but in the beginning, lest he make a spectacle of himself, he had confined himself within his small apartment. Only once he could put together a passable public face did he venture out to explore, and even then did he rarely stray far. The nights were a unique torture. He had tried all manner of things to make the bed feel less... empty. But Hikaru had always been the one to fall asleep first and without the sound of his breathing like white noise in the dark, Kaoru was left sleeplessly tossing and turning until morning.
He's tired of being tired, of snatching an hour here and there. He's tired of dwelling on the situation and desperate for a distraction.]
[It takes him a second to realise he's being addressed and carefully backtracks to the person who spoke]
My opinion on... what, sorry?
no subject
A semblance of order. At the most basic, just a place to tell people where or when you headed out. Or if you'd like to learn how to fight.
no subject
But she was having a hard time finding a way to bring up that always difficult question, 'are you okay?' when she knew the answer was probably... no, not really. And being a guy she assumed he wouldn't want to talk about it. That's how guys worked, right?
But an odd opportunity of sorts arrived when she passed by just as Duke had gotten his attention, and she figured what the hell, might as well get in on the conversation.]
Whaaat about a bulletin board? ... sorry. Thought I'd chime in.
no subject
[he steps aside for Rin and laughs a little awkwardly, trying not to let it sound too strained]
Well, you know... I wouldn't be of much use to anyone outside. I don't know much about fighting, or about anything outside for that matter.
But for the ones who do fight, it might be good to know where they are. If someone got stuck outside, or worse...
no subject
If you want to change that, I can try to teach you. I've never taught before, but I've been a knight for some time. It would be a good way to burn some time, if nothing else.
[ And a bit of a smile for Rin. ]
A bulletin board would probably work. Post it near the skyway so people can't miss it, make tabs for people to move onto the board for 'we left at a time to head out'. Maybe something for "things we'd like to see change in the Bastion", for ideas of what to spend shards on to make things easier.

I don't see why not! And it'd be easy to build, 'specially with some of the materials we've been bringin' back.
[To Kaoru:]
I was gettin' sword trainin' before this, too. And I need to practice with my new blade anyway so I'd be happy to join you in gettin' lessons, if you'd rather not do it alone.
no subject
I think... that I would be interested in trying. I should do something to keep busy... and the company would be welcome.
[he was beginning to understand that he needed to make himself useful, and not a hinderance.]
Ah! [another realisation... gosh, this is weird for him.] I forgot to introduce myself, I'm sorry. My name's Kaoru.

If you want to start thinking, I'm better at melee than anything ranged; like Rin, I focus mostly on sword. I know how to handle other things, so if you like the look of something else, I can at least help you not hurt yourself. Unless you want a gun, and then you need to talk to Osahar.
no subject
[She nodded in agreement with Duke, smiling faintly with it.]
Or Bon. He was trainin' to be a Dragoon back home. That's uhm.. an exorcist class that deals with guns, mostly. But yeah, we're totally cool with helpin' you out. I know fightin' ain't for everyone but...
[But it's life or death out there]
no subject
[thank you, Rin, for the unspoken reminder] ...but being able to make one of those things fall over and die would be a good start.

There's some damn useful kinds of bows though. One brigade had a bow called a 'transform bow'. I never learned how to use it, but it would twist about into a sword about ... so big. [ The knight indicates something a little longer than a forearm. ] Really useful, archers don't tend to focus on being able to defend up close. Not that crossbows don't pack a mean punch, they're just a tad bit trickier.
I know a few different sword styles - basics of, if not as well as the way I usually fight - ax, things like maces or clubs in basic theory, as well as spear or halberd, and things close in theory.
[ An unhappy shrug. Duke sure would love to be able to use more magic a day without tonics. ]

I just know how to use a sword, and I only started a year ago. And if my sister was here she'd be kickin' my butt all up and down the Skyway for not keepin' up on my trainin'.
no subject
[Rin's comment draws his attention and he glances at her. He's been so wrapped up in himself he forgets that there are people here who have come from their own worlds and left their own friends and families behind.] ...you have a sister?
no subject
[ The knight studies Kaoru again. ]
A big enough shield could work. You just bash it into them when they try hitting you, and they get off balance. You probably wouldn't be going out on the skyway alone, but as in a team, you'd be great help.
[ There's a blink to Rin, and a bit of a smile. Duke remembers that conversation. ] It seems a bit common, siblings.

[The question catches Rin off guard. Oh... right, she mentioned Yuki...]
Uhm. Y... yeah. Actually. Twin sister. Not that we're that much alike...

New thread get
Familiarize himself.
He didn't get far though before he overheard voices and he stilled to listen in. They were talking about the fact that not all of them had the same types of skills to offer, bartering and such. All very important topics for their survival to be sure, but... what could he do, it got him thinking. Nezumi at least could fight and take care of himself on those gathering type trips on the skyway.
Shion himself though?
Not so much. And he wasn't particularly skilled at cooking, though he knew how to bake thanks to his mother. It wasn't like any veterinary skills would be needed here it seemed either. He'd have to find some way to help out until they either found a way out of this "game" or... well... if this was reality...
He shook his head violently, not ready yet to accept that answer. His mother was back home still after all. Safe.
But the young man isn't hard to spot listening in, head craned to try and hear, but not willing to interrupt even if he had to agree that things had to be thought about and decided on. Add "not stealthy" to his list of "talents"...]
*gets!*
It kind of seems like he's trying to hide, but... well... Osahar walks up to him, plasma pistol resting in it holster on his hip and a slight smile on his face. At least he keeps his voice a little quieter than he otherwise would?] Excuse me...
no subject
A-Ah, yes?
no subject
[He waits to extend a physical greeting, though. His experience is that all cultures are different, so he waits to see what Shion does, and will mirror that. Unless he does nothing, naturally.]
no subject
Asahi Shion! I just arrived, yes. Three days ago. I think... it's still all a bit overwhelming and blurred together. [Especially seeing as what all this came up on the tail end of too...]
It's nice to meet you though, ah... Is it alright to call you Osahar, or is that too familiar? [He's realized that they all come from different cultures too in theory, so may as well be polite and make sure.]
no subject
Is... there anything I can do to help you get acclimated?
no subject
Have you been here long then? It sounds, well, I heard them talking, and it sounds like no one has been here very long...
no subject
Ah, and there's the question. Osahar shakes his head.] No, not too long. I think that no one's been here for... mm, no more than two solar months or so. The Bastion was never meant to be a permanent living space, after all. I'm not sure when exactly the catastrophe happened, but it was pretty recent.
no subject
[ Oops Duke has moved over to you, eavesdropper teen and Osahar. ]
Agreed, as far as I know, no one from other worlds have been here terribly long. Three weeks or so before me, and I've only been here... three days more than Osahar.
no subject
Ah, Duke! Hello, yes, Nezumi's the friend I meant. [He gives the knight a smile and then looks back to Osahar to explain.] We woke up here together on the Skyway.
But... doesn't anyone else find that odd? That no one has been here that long...? I haven't asked around after any others much yet, but are there any that claim to be from this world?
