[Day 153] I understood the meaning of love... [OPEN]

What: The past few days have been difficult, but Rin is in a surprisingly good mood today. Apparently that's enough to warrant randomly singing??

Warnings: Rin being Rin is a given by now.

[The past few days had been a whirlwind of emotion. Some good, some bad, but all of it actually fairly exhausting. In it, though, Rin had gotten out some much needed things that had been bottling up for some time, and in a stark contrast to the anger that had nearly destroyed the kitchen, she found herself in a surprisingly good mood this day.

Like. Really good mood.

Good enough to apparently sing. Which she didn't do very often at all. Sometimes she could be caught humming a song while working, but actually singing something?

Well, she did used to be in the church choir growing up, so it wasn't that far fetched of an idea. But it had been years since then, and her voice was a little out of practice.

Still, something about that good mood compelled her to make her way over to the gazebo where the piano was. She couldn't play (Yuki could, but even she had fallen out of practice with that in recent years, too) but she knew enough to strike a note and start from there. She wasn't singing to anyone in particular, and the song that came out of here surprisingly wasn't a church hymn.]

sugu ni sugu ni mirai wo yobu...

[It didn't quite sound the same without some accompaniment, but she still got rather in to it. Enough that she probably wouldn't notice if some one stopped to listen...]

No, it's Japanese. It's just sort of... uhm... like the meaning isn't direct in the words, I guess? Kinda like poetry. Or somethin'.

Oh. That makes sense. Poetry's hard to work with.

I'm no good with it, that's for sure! But I ain't very good with words anyway...

I tried it once. [And that's all that's going to be said about Crona's poetry attempts.]

Different people are good at different things. You're good at cooking. Someone else can be good with words.

That's true. My sister always was...

... I didn't know you had a sister. That must be nice, having a sister.

She's-- ... Yuki isn't here. But...

[No, it's better if she doesn't get in to how difficult their relationship became. Crona doesn't need to hear about all that.]

... it was nice. Yeah.

What... um... what is [is? was? maybe it should be was...] she like?

I just... I didn't really have... a good family. So it's nice to hear about other people's...

[Well. In the that case.]

Yuki... well she was a total pain in the ass! She nagged me all the time and was constantly getting on my case about everythin' ever!

[But that sounds horrible, doesn't it?]

... but she was a genius. Youngest exorcist ever. Everythin' she did, she did it amazingly. I was really proud of her. I swore I'd surpass her some day, some how. I wanted to be as amazing as she was.

[Between Maka's "my mama's like a hippo!" and Rin's assessment of Yuki, Crona's realizing that maybe families are stranger things than the meister had ever considered.

"Surpass", says Rin, and the word makes Crona think of Black*Star, grinning brightly, one arm thrown over Crona's shoulders, the other hand pointing at Death the Kid. "See that guy? I'm gonna surpass him!" ]

You would have, probably.

And... I'm, um, I'm sure she'd be proud of you. When that happens.

... yeah. She would be.

[Not that she'd ever show it, but that's what Rin has come to expect of Yuki.]

M-maybe you'll see her again. [That's the closest Crona can get to comforting.]

[Rin knows it, so she tactfully doesn't bring up finding the statue out on the skyway all those weeks ago.]

... maybe! I bet she just got lost or somethin'.

.... maybe. That would be the best thing. If she's lost she might find her way here.

She will. She's really resourceful like that.

... I'm sure. [Maybe Miss Marie and Rin's sister found each other out there on the Skyway. Maybe there's another place where people found each other.]

[It is possible, even if Rin still has doubts.]

How uhm... how have you been doin'? I know we don't talk much...

Things... um... things are better now. Maka's here, you know. Not the first Maka, but a different one.

... oh. Yeah. I... think I saw her, a little while ago.

[blackblooded]

["Saw her", not "talked to her". Not to this Maka. Rin doesn't want to talk to this Maka.]

She... um... I'm sure she would talk to you. If you wanted.

[Yeah she has kind of been... subconsciously avoiding Maka. For good reason. She had been really close to the one that was there before.]
