What: Ryu has some difficult questions for people.

Warnings: Possible mention of death/war/other upsetting topics. His questions today are running on the existential side.

After all the excitement of the day, Ryu is still left with questions. He just doesn't understand why people hurt each other, or go to war. He doesn't understand why people have to fight. None of this makes sense. And his heart hurts at thinking about all of these things, so there's really only one thing to do.

In the evening, Ryu approaches people, gently clearing his throat or tugging their sleeve if it doesn't look like that will provoke violence. It doesn't really matter the age - he knows he's one of the youngest in the Bastion anyway, even if he doesn't look it. Still, the worry in his eyes is evident as he speaks softly.

"... Do you mind answering some questions?"

"It's the same with people. That is the price you have to pay in order to have emotions at all. You can't always control them. In some of those cases, you end up hurting others. Whether from anger, or sadness, or fear, or even love... That is what happens."

Saix's stoic presentation breaks a little as he sighs and his hands go down to his sides. "Yet it's still better to have them, in the end."

"But... but they were hurting people... I wouldn't have hurt them if they stopped..."

Though that's not quite true, is it? Maybe their captain, but the soldiers didn't hurt anyone that he saw.

"I just... want people to not have to hurt each other..."

[croceamors]

"They always will." It's bluntly said. Saix, unfortunately, doesn't believe in coddling the truth. It is as it is. "But I suppose you can minimize the damage if you learn more about people in general and more about the things that cause them that sort of pain."

[amnesiadragon]

"But why? Why can't it be possible to live in peace? Wars just cause damage on all sides." Ryu is also not a big believer in anything but bluntness... but he's still very much a child.

[croceamors]

"Yet some people still believe that wars can be worth it. Whether to right what they believe was wronged or to get something valuable."

"... How can something that causes so many lost lives be worth anything?"

[croceamors]

"You've never heard of the phrase 'for the greater good'?"

[amnesiadragon]

He shakes his head. Nope.

[croceamors]

...Crap, is this what he had to inflict on Axel when he made him watch over Roxas?

"It's basically the idea that even though something might be horrible, it will be worth it in the end. For example, some might say that experimenting on a person could help find the solutions to horrible diseases. By sacrificing a person, you might help many more especially in the future."

"But - couldn't you just use a healing spell?"

Magic and science, how do they work.

Axel, he is almost sorry.

"Healing spells can't fix everything."

[amnesiadragon]

"Well, not if they're already dead."

"There are also some things that are just too complicated for them."

"Why?"

Healing spells do not work like that.

[croceamors]

"What do you even know about the human body? It's complicated should really tell you enough as it is."

Also, Saix is not Vexen and thus can't really go in-depth about this.

"... Which kind of human?"

The answer to all of these is "very little".

"...Generally, humans look much like I do only with round ears instead of pointy ones."

Generally. There's weird exceptions. Saix doesn't want to get into it because this conversation is already waaaay too long and sort of dumb now.

"Not where I'm from."

Get used to dumb conversations, Saix.

"Everywhere else, that's how it is, so you better get used to it."

He's now regretting this conversation fully.

"It's still strange to me."

"I repeat: you are going to have to get used to it."
