What: Duke has shard'd up a new building, and has finally sat down with the gift

Duke had been rather busy after finding the gift in the shrine. After opening it, the knight had more or less wrapped it back up, made a trip back to put it away, and focused very intently on cleanup.

The next day was spent scribbling in a clear patch of dirt, because why use good paper when the knight wasn't sure it could be done. But then Duke vanished with a collection of shards, heading off to the Skyway almost empty handed after that.

Which leaves today. Today, the knight is inspecting a new building - a moderately tall, plain looking one a little more rectangle than square, with a four foot fence surrounding the area between it and the edge of the Bastion. Duke looks a little pleased after inspecting it.

Bother the knight?

Or, alternatively, explore the building some hours later, closer to when the clouds move in for night, and find the knight settled in a corner of the second story, struggling to keep steady hands while mending an odd black and red coat.

[... another new building? There seem to be a lot of those popping up lately. Rin walks by it a few times during the day, but it's not until evening when she gets done in the kitchen that she finally pokes her head in to see what's up.

Ohh... training things!

... she really hopes there's no pitching machines in here. Those things like to have her head as a target.]

[ No pitching things. Duke doesn't even know what those are, so Rin is safe.

There are cabnets that hold a small variety of melee weapons, a quartet of wooden monsters in a corner - two lunkheads, two gasfellas, and what might be a collapsed windbag. A door on the long side leads to that fenced off area - a target range, it looks like. And there are stairs up!

Which is where the knight is, really. ]

[Good, good.

In that case, Rin is going to slip in quietly, currently weaponless herself since she had been working and not on the skyway. She walks around a bit, admiring the weapons and the targets until she finds the stairs.

Of course that's where she's going next. She's too curious not to]

[ The upstairs also has a nice high ceiling. Not nearly so high as the first floor did, but oh well. There is a tiny little kitchen area - a sink, a cupboard, sturdy cups - at one wall, some chairs and benches scattered around, and doors marked with what should be fairly clear "boys" and "girls". Those hold showers and bathrooms.

And there is one knight, settled in a chair, trying to stitch up a black and red coat. Seems Duke hasn't noticed that someone else is inside yet. ]

[This was a pretty sweet set up. Rin was thinking she would have to come back here at some point, when she wasn't worn out from work.

But she was still wondering, who had--

Oh. That... actually made sense.]

... hey.

[ Duke doesn't start, which is probably a good thing, considering how close that needle was to the other hand.

But up goes the knight's head, and the voice-

Ah. ]

You noticed the new building, I see.

[ The knight sounds a bit strained, but it is clearly getting shoved aside. Rather like how the coat is getting pushed out from under hands that might be shaking just a bit. ]

[Rin is grateful for that. She wouldn't want Duke to get hurt on her account]

Kinda hard not to notice. It's nice, though.

I thought something like this would be better than just the river bank. Maybe people would actually be interested.

[ But scratching under the ponytail for a moment. ]

I need to start collecting shards again, however.

This probably wasn't cheap, was it?

[Neither was the onsen, but donations had gone a long way that time.]

I could use it... I just gotta be careful not to burn anythin'...

The targets all together cost more than the building and everything that came with that.

[ This is what happens when you hoard shards for... forever. ]

That would be much appreciated. Just about everything is made out of wood...

... you must've had a lotta shards then.

[More than Rin had, but she spent most of hers on the onsen not that long ago.]

I'll uh... keep the flames from comin' out then.
