Day 141 | Open (BACKDATED)
Who: Colin, anyone who wants to help or see the new building.
Open: Open
When: Day 141, all day. (Backdated)
Where: Northwestern Bastion, at the brand new workshop.
What: Moving in and getting to work!
Format Can match.
Warnings: Typical Colin Warning, he may say something horribly stupid or offensive without realizing it.
It had been less than thirty days since Colin arrived in the Bastion, barely a flash to his perception of time. And yet, here he was with a large, well-equipped workshop. Three stories, with a vehicle bay, workspace aplenty, a clean room, a chemical lab, and large residence. Getting this place built up had been done quickly even by his reckoning, though it still needed a lot of work to be up to his technological standards.
He still wasn't going to trust the Monument with that most delicate of work, but otherwise it was certainly coming in handy. From here on, he'd be using it less for material objects and more to enhance his amulet. This workshop would let him build his gear back up with his own two hands, and he'd be able to trust the stuff completely. Furthermore, it would offer a significant boost to the manufacturing ability of this small pocket of civilization.
Early in the morning, the workshop would be filled with noise as Colin began testing equipment. After that, Colin would be spending much of the day moving salvage out of his apartment, and all of the other places that he'd been stashing it over the past month. He had a brand new storage room that he had to fill.

[He beams proudly at Zulf.]

I'll keep that in mind.
You said Stewart had the journal, didn't you? Isn't he Anna's father?

[And yes, he's quite aware of how often he instills people with that reaction. It makes be beam even more proudly.]
That's right. Nathan wanted him to work at getting it translated. I don't actually know how far he's gotten, though.
When I go see Stewart, it's usually for forge matters.

I only met his daughter not too long ago... If you could introduce me to him properly, it would be quite appreciated. I don't want to see demanding or pushy, having just arrived.

[Colin hooks his thumb back towards his workshop, and he grins. Colin, did you even TELL Stewart about this?]
Anna's a sweetie, though, isn't she?
no subject
Yes, she's a good child. Her and Zia will get along well, I think, considering they were both raised in Caelondia. I hope this whole event hasn't been too hard on her..

She lost her mother to the calamity, but Stu's been doing a bang-up job with her. She... well, I don't know how much of it is an act, but she seems like she'll grow big and strong to me.

[Colin nods slightly.]
What's your family like?
[Zulf opened the door, Colin's gonna peek in.]

My parents were quite energetic, from what I can remember. I believe they were soldiers during the war, but that's far too back for me. I simply remember that they had to put their halberds in a high place so that I couldn't get to them. [He raises the hand holding the pipe.] This was my mother's, as a matter of fact.

Sounds like you have lots of good memories about them. I'm glad to hear that. And you've got mementos? That's even more wonderful.
I imagine that without my family's guidance, I probably would have turned out a lot worse than I did.

[There's that same regretful smile on Colin's face.]
I mean, I've got thousands, maybe tens of thousands of letters and images and other media that my family's sent me, but nothing physical. And... yeah, I wish I had something solid.

[Colin shake his head.]
We weren't in my home dimension when the Calamity hit us.
We were investigating a world that had some of the strangest temporal distortions we'd ever seen. In hindsight, it was probably forewarning that the calamity was going to hit the planet like a bomb from an empty sky.
I was there to set up and calibrate the temporal monitoring beacons with my team. Temporal-Dimensional stuff is still highly classified and dangerous work, only a handful of people across the empire have the authorization to handle that kind of stuff. Especially when it comes to extra-dimensional expeditions are involved. For just this reason, actually.
[There's another sigh.]
