Day 138 ;; Open
Who: Princess Mopesalot Zelda and OPEN
Open: Open
When: Day 138
Where: the Memorial
What: Zelda is paying her respects and being lost in thoughtagain
Format: Action
Warnings: Zilch
--
[ Zelda had finally left the hospital a couple days ago and taken her scant belongings to one of the empty apartment rooms instead. Rather than lay abed for the entire day, Zelda was forcing herself to develop some sort of daily routine. It began when the cloudiness of "nighttime" subsided, at which time Zelda went to the memorial to pray. ]
[ There were no relics related to Hyrulean religion for Zelda to pray to, but she prayed anyway, kneeling solemnly. After her prayers, she sat on a wooden bench and began to write in a blank diary she had picked up at the Lost and Found. Anyone who sees her writing will be unable to read such a strange language. ]
[ Please interrupt her, whether during prayer or while she writes. ]

No, I have finished. [ She laid a hand over her chest and bowed to him in greeting. Dragons hadn't been seen in Hyrule for longer than anyone could recall, and all Zelda had ever read about them had been in ancient texts. He seemed rather like the ancient Light Spirits that protected Hyrule, with Lanayru's reptilian features and Eldin's sweeping wings. She felt somehow that he deserved her respect. ] If you wish to observe the memorial in private, I will take my leave.

[He means quite a literal father, as well, but that's a strange conversation for a different time.]
I am Paarthurnax. Have you been settling well?
no subject
I am Zelda, Princess of Hyrule. [ It is a practiced introduction, a habit she may need to break now that she is no longer a sovereign. ] I fare... well enough. [ From her tone of voice, 'well' is definitely not very close to 'good.' ]

It is hope that one lives for, I suppose. Anything may be possible as long as one still lives. [ It's a bit more difficult to carry that belief nowadays than it was when she was back home. She has yet to find her own goal to strive for. ]

In times such as these, it is often all that one can ask for.
no subject
To what goal do you strive, My Lord? [ She inquires, mindfully offering the respectful title she believes he deserves. ]
no subject
There is no need to address me so. My name is suffecient. I am not nobility. I am merely an old dovah.
As for my goal... I would see what new life the completion of this place would bring. Much has ended, this is true. This does, however, mean that much can begin.

A new world, do you think?
[ And what place would a princess without a realm have in a new world? It is difficult to fight back bitterness at the loss of her station. Without Hyrule, what purpose does she have at all? ]

It is exactly the powerlessness of mortals that plunged my kingdom into war time after time throughout history. Men of all races have always sought an ancient power left behind by the gods when they created our world. Mortals are far often too vain and selfish to know how best to handle the power to create worlds.

[Paarthurnax gives a shake of his head, remorseful almost.]
I would also say that certain mortals can do great things... I was once foolish and thought so little of them. Nords who I am honored to call dear friends of mine proved me wrong.
no subject
Then would you wish to take responsibility for the actions of the mortals here, without our gods to shepherd us? [ It was more of a rhetorical question, born of frustration at the power vacuum the end of the world had created. ]
So few and far between are born men of balanced hearts capable of guiding those who would otherwise be ruled by personal greed. [ And the selfless hero of her world had been stolen away by the Calamity. Although the people she had met here at the Bastion seemed like the good sort, who was to say that they would stay that way when the power to build worlds was revealed? ]
no subject
No God has ever taken responsibility for the actions of mortal creatures. They have guided and protected and taught. For if one took all to place in the hands of the Gods, then they would never learn. They would never grow.
Those three things I will do for those of this place, more as friend than any God I could delude myself into being.
Perhaps if you observe this place longer, you will find your answer for if there are true saviors here.
from a different canonpoint she could've argued in favor of divine intervention, but alas
[ But she misses the feeling that her gods were always there to watch over the world they created. Perhaps loneliness would not be so painful if she believed that some slight vestige of her world remained. But even if her gods had not been destroyed by the Calamity, Zelda felt certain that they had forsaken her. ]
I hope to see what you see, in time. As of late, the only hero I see is in my memories. [ And her nightmares. ]
alas!
