Day 137 | Open
Who: Colin and anyone curious about what he's doing.
Open: Open
When: Day 137, around midday
Where: Northwestern Bastion, open ground
What: Colin's surveying for a new building
Format Can match.
Warnings: Colin's deeply engrossed in his survey. He may be more of a socially impaired derp than usual.
[Colin has been positively hyperactive today. He wolfed down his breakfast like a man possessed, snagged a couple of fruit to eat in the field, and made sure to get his chores done far ahead of schedule. After that, he grabbed several wooden stakes and set himself to the task of analyzing the ground beneath his feet. Unseen, his eye has been taking detailed measurements of all of the buildings in the Bastion, and he's been setting out the stakes to mark an outline of a new building. Anyone feel like approaching him?]

Still, there are certain things that I can't help but imagine would be useful. If the shout is dependant upon volume or projection, a vocal amplifier could do amazing things to increase the potency.
And of course, the possiblity of giving you some mechanical digits to allow for mechanical manipulation down the line.
[He chuckles quietly and grins.]
None of this is anything I'd force on you, mind you. Just thinking aloud.

[But back to the talk about the Thu'um, since that will forever hold his interest.]
An amplifier... I assume that would make me louder, correct?

Oh, I know that our resources are limited. A lot of my early creations are going to be along the lines of necessities, and refinements to a couple of older technologies. Older to me, anyway.
Where I'm from, though, we know how to make things only as big as they need to be.
And yeah, an amplifier can boost your volume. There's also systems I can make to enhance the range the sound waves can travel. And of course, speakers can relocate where sounds come from AND amplify them as well.
I'm just wondering how the nature of your voice will respond to technology. It could give you whole new approaches to what you do... or it could horribly destroy the devices in question.
If you're game, I'd LOVE to find out.

[After all, the Greybeards could be to be heard throughout a... decent portion of Skyrim. Paarthurnax is quite certain that even without practice, he could be heard throughout the whole of it.]
Greh, I would be very "game", as you refer to it. We can start with the less... violent aspects of my voice first.

[WOO! Tangent!]
But that's much later.
[Colin smiles apologetically.]
For now, I need to get my workshop built first. The extent of what I can do without proper tools is sadly limited. Field repairs and barracks science projects, more or less.

[He can't do the delicate stuff, but... Y'know, he can move shit.]

The workshop's going to have a storage room for things that I can use, and I intend to fill it quickly.
Oh, and maybe in a week, I want to try and go back to the Mancer's facility. That hangar.... I need to do some work there. And we still need to deal with the plant there. I can't think of anyone I'd rather have with me on that than you.
[Some day, SOME DAY, Colin will help make it so he can do delicate shit...]

[Ah yes, the Mancer's facility... Paar has heard about what happened down there where he could not go. He's been thinking about that himself.]
What variety of plant is it? I can breathe frost and fire- either would kill it, if it is not used to such things.
no subject
I suspect that we could hurt it with extreme cold, but without knowing how long it's been growing underground, that's pure conjecture. I have no idea what it's subsisting on, other than whatever meals are stupid enough to get too close to it.
I'm hesitant to use fire on it, since it seems to have taken up residence in the archives. I'm HOPING that some of the files there survived. But I think that's unlikely. Removing that plant would just be a goodwill gesture to whatever's still living there, as well as a safety precaution for us.
