[Colin has been positively hyperactive today. He wolfed down his breakfast like a man possessed, snagged a couple of fruit to eat in the field, and made sure to get his chores done far ahead of schedule. After that, he grabbed several wooden stakes and set himself to the task of analyzing the ground beneath his feet. Unseen, his eye has been taking detailed measurements of all of the buildings in the Bastion, and he's been setting out the stakes to mark an outline of a new building. Anyone feel like approaching him?]

[Colin studies N for a moment, curiosity coming to him as he considers N's words.]

You actually followed what I was saying?

Matter-energy conversion, the energy emitting properties of the shards and cores? Even a little bit of comprehension?

[He's not used to people in his own world being able to keep up with him. Even if he's keeping it basic here, it's a bit of a surprise.]

[Oh no, Colin. Don't get him started. Poor Hilda is just going to be left behind in this conversation.]

Enough to understand the basic concept of it, yes. As I said, the study of Pokemon is as much a science as anything else. During my more isolated periods growing up I did little more than read everything I could possibly get my hands on. The idea itself is a bit foreign to me, but I'm sure if I heard and read enough it would become simple enough to comprehend fully.

I also find mathematics to be quite elegant and beautiful, and would often solve equations in my spare time. I wasn't allowed outside of my castle for much of my life, so I had to keep my mind sharp some how.

[ Simple-minded girl just gonna awkward Tirtouga here for all of the smart-talk, yep. She listens to N explain his younger life, and how he was confined to the castle ... Hilda found herself leaning a little against him. She considered herself to be among the few in their own world who understood him, just based on their own history together. She might not have understood him entirely, but ... enough to know where most of what he does now is coming from. ]

I'm going to grab you a little later on, then.

[Colin gives him a warm grin.]

If you actually like numbers, I've got some things you might enjoy. And honestly... I could use another egg-head around here. Between you and Nathan, we should have a sufficient brain-trust.

Paarth too, but I'm not sure if his world's actually advanced enough to comprehend Calculus, let alone some of the stuff I need input on...

For now, though, don't let me distract you two. I'm going to be busy with this, and blue-printing, for a while yet. My original workshop was going to be smaller, but then came the expedition, and I was able to get my hands on more shards, and.... yeah, it goes on like that.

[All of that just sounded wonderful to N. He often tried to restrain himself around Hilda more, knowing that so many of his rambles simply went over her head. It didn't bother him that she couldn't understand, but he longed to find that one person he could actually bounce ideas off of as opposed to simply talking at endlessly without input.

He was free now, to do as he pleased, speak to who he pleased and if he had to contain his love of elegant equations any longer he might very well explode.]

You may keep Zoroark as long as you need to then. He can understand you just fine if you speak to him as you would anyone else.

[ She's being polite and not butting into the conversation between the two of them. It's actually really nice to see N making a friend who was on his level of intelligence. Hilda felt a little bad that she couldn't quite grasp a lot of the things he was interested in a lot of the time.

Still Awkward Tirtouga-ing it up over hurr. ]

That sounds quite helpful, thank you all.

[He gives human and pokemon alike a grateful smile.]

I'll try not to bore you too much, Zoroark. But I can't promise a lot of activity. Mapping and surveying are pretty boring even by my standards. But the reward will be worth it, and I'll make you something for your troubles when everything's all set up.

[Talking to Zoroark as a person doesn't seem alien at all to Colin.]

What about you two? Just touring the Bastion today? Or am I interrupting a hot date with all my tech ramblings?

[And there's the mischievous grin again.]

[No matter how awkward you are, N will still love you.]

Zoroark says he doesn't mind, he likes helping. It's been a while since he's had a chance to do much more than be around me.

[The question gets a confused blink from N, and a tilt of his head.]

We were just walking around. Where would we even go on a date here?

[There's no Ferris Wheel :c ]

[ Good because she's pretty awkward. Wait huh what date?? She wouldn't mind going on a date with N, she guessed, but it wasn't exactly the first thing on her mind ... ]

I-I'm ... sure there are things we could do that might be considered a date? But we're not on one today, no, we were just ... walking around ...

Well, a picnic at the waterfall would be a sight that you'd never be able to get anywhere else in the galaxy.

[Colin grins wider, and much more warmly now.]

I'm just finding it healthy to keep busy.

Ah... I suppose that's true. The only date we ever went on was to the carnival in the summer in Vatheon, right?

[N supposes the normal teenage thing to do would be to rectify that. Also N you hadn't even kissed her yet by then that wasn't a date you dope.]

Huh? The Carnival? Was that a date ...?

[ She has to stop and think. ]

Well ... ah, we weren't really together at that point but I guess it could be considered a date?

You two are adorable, I hope you realize that.

Tell me I'm wrong, guys.

[He looks at Emboar and Zoroark for vindication on thi one.]

... I suppose it wasn't. I didn't think about that. In that case we haven't had a date yet. I--

[Wait what was Colin saying? Adorable? Him?!

They're very adorable!]

Z-Zoroark! Don't agree with him on something like that!

[But it's true, N! It's really true!]

[ Hilda's going to be here blushing. And Emboar just huffs.

I guess they are.

Hilda is going to ignore the 'adorable' comment. She's been called that before, especially by people who underestimated her prowess in battle. ]

I guess ... maybe we could find some time to have a date, then?

[Colin looks between Emboar and Zoroark, and he just GRINS. He doesn't need to hear them to recognize those reactions. Ahhhh, vindication.]

I encourage this. If we can't keep ourselves busy and occupied, to say nothing of happy, we'll go nuts.

Well, all of you except Hilda.]

I suppose there's truth in that...

[ The way she sees things, while the idea of a date is nice, she doesn't necessarily need to go on dates with N in order to feel the way she does about him. Still, what Colin was saying had some truth to it, too. She looks up at N and smiles. ]

We can talk more about it later?
