When: Day 64
Where: Around the apartment.
What: Night tries to recover from the news she was dealt the day before.
Format: Action log, but I'll follow whatever format.

[After everything that happened yesterday Night found it nigh impossible to fall asleep and wound up staring out her window until the sun rose. By that point she was already outside, her coat left behind in her room but her red sword case slung over her back, like always. She kept her amulet hung around her neck, one hand idly toying with it as she walked around the apartment building.
Not too long into her explorations she finds herself at a river. Normally this wouldn't give her reason to pause, but two things happen here: 1) the familiar glimmer of fish scales tempt her from under the water and 2) her stomach growls. So to answer the siren's call of both her stomach and the river's invitation Night sets down her sword case off to the side and steps closer to the water.
She climbs up on a rock and peers into the water and pulls back her long mane of dark hair so that it doesn't touch the water. With eyes wide and pupils dilated she raises an arm and with lightning-quick reflexes she dives her hand into the water and pulls out a small fish, caught in her grasp. She looks pretty excited about this.]
Hell yeah-! [Until the fish smacks her in the face, surprising her enough to let her drop it back into the water. Damn.]

[She moves back to the water to wash off what was left on her hand. At Maka's question she looks up at him.]
Huh? Oh, yeah I am. And I guess we do. It's a little weird, huh? Does that make you nervous?

[Rin is Rin, Night is Night, facetwins is not the strangest thing he's encountered in Bastion.]
It's not...that weird. There are two other survivors from my world, they say I'm supposed to be a girl.
[...And that still makes him flush horribly because seriously? A girl? How much worse must her life be having an idiot father like his?]

Oh? A girl? [Curious look.] Man, everyone seems to be taking this whole end of the world thing pretty well, huh... [She says it mostly to herself, voice wavering.] Did you all arrive here together?

[Granted this is a guy that trusts everyone that seems nice at first. He sighs, tugging at some grass and tossing it into the river.]
No, they arrived after me...one of my friends was so upset when he saw that I wasn't "his" Maka, he attacked me. That was scary, but at the same time I understand...I'd be upset too if someone I thought I knew turned out to be...well, not them. [even though his friends are his friends no matter how their appearance changes.]

But she smiles briefly.] You seem pretty cool yourself.
[Hands washed she sits back on the rock, legs crossed under her.] That's still very strange. How can you be different from what they remember? Hm... [There were still many things she still doesn't understand about this place.] Are you on better terms with them now?

Ugh, Maka wasn't going to think about this again, it just makes him depressed.]
--Hmm...because they know me as a girl? I don't know how it is with demons, but humans tend to, uh...place different expectations on you depending on your gender. People expected me to be like my father back in my world--even though he's a perverted asshole and I hate him--I should hope that expectation wasn't put on my female counterpart.
[That sounds like it'd be a lot nicer, actually, but girls have different troubles to contend with and he's well aware of that.]
I think...things are about as "well" between us as they're going to be. They know that just because I'm a guy doesn't mean my soul is any different from the Maka that they know, so...that's something?
[Still awkward, though.]

Ah, I've noticed that! I mean, how humans look at gender... It's still really strange to me. Where I'm from it doesn't really mean anything unless you're looking to breed, but... [A shrug.] You also have a strange way of looking at romance too. It's so weird! [At this she laughs a little.]
Gender doesn't change someone, but I doubt that means much coming from someone who's never seen it as something as an important factor. [She reaches down to pluck some grass next to the rocks.]
That's something! I'm glad you're doing well though. Especially in a situation like this.

But that sort of talk aside, Maka smiles sheepishly.] I'm doing what I can, that's all I can think to do.

It isn't that all uncommon for halfbreeds to go into the Order business, like Rin! But I guess I'm a strange case. Not a lot of demons have a change of heart like I did.

Actually it sounds like a couple of books he's read--a creature that's alienated from its own species for one reason or another meets with a very kind human and falls in love with them. Swearing vengeance and/or protection against any demons that would seek to harm this loved one.
Who knew, it happens in real life.]
I suppose that's how it is when you find someone special like that.

She saved me. I owe her my life. [She would die for her if it came down to it - never mind the chance that Monaka is already dead and gone. The idea doesn't even strike her, mainly because she's forced herself to not think about that chance. It just isn't possible to her right now that her most important person is probably dead.]
