[Sometime after lunch, Anya takes off to look for two of her best lady friends with a spellbook under her arm and some key ingredients in her pockets.

She's quite cheerful about it, a little oblivious to whatever else might have been going on lately. Cheerful, and insistent. She will track you down.]


[Open to All]
[Later in the day, Bastionites may be surprised to look up and notice that... it's snowing. Not only that, but the temperature has dropped.

At least in the more southerly parts of the Bastion. The farmlands might get a few sporadic flurries, but it isn't cold enough there to stick.

So if you've been missing snowmen or snowball fights or any of those activities that require winter to happen, now's your chance. It's probably not going to last very long.]

What if he's one of those people who don't approve? And he's Aoi's friend, he's going to take back all those thank yous and tell her to stay away from her. She didn't really think they could hide it since Aoi kissed her in front of like six other people including her sister, but she still didn't have to say anything just now. She just thought it was okay but it's not.]

W-well, maybe. I think.

[They haven't really talked about it, what if Aoi isn't actually her girlfriend but just someone who kissed her once and holds her hand sometimes? Can that be something else?]

[ Meanwhile Naegi is more or less unaware of Zuko's quandary at the moment since, well. The last he knew Aoi had turned Zuko down, so... unless something changed, he's assuming something else. ]

Do you enjoy being in their company and being there for them regardless of good or bad? If so, then... I'd definitely say that you and the other girl are girlfriends.

[Naturally it doesn't occur to her that Aoi would have talked to her friends about that at all. Despite, y'know, the fact that Zuko talked to her friends about it.

So his lack of enthusiasm is clearly because he knows it's Aoi and doesn't like them being together.]

[She still worries that there is, but she's not alone in this. He's not allowed to call Aoi wrong, too.]

[Zuko's only had this crush for like three months. That's not long, right?]

Yeah... it could be just me, but it seemed obvious that there was something between you two...

[Yeah there were definitely some other people telling Zuko it was obvious. Apparently she wears her heart on her sleeve, despite not wearing sleeves?]

Maybe you're right, considering the situation.

[ Naegi nods quietly, understanding as he grinned. ]

. . . take care of Asahina-san, okay? I have no doubt that you'll continue doing so! It's just that... even though she's my friend there's times where I might not be able to be there for her, so... I'm counting on you, Zuko.

[ Naegi smiles sadly at Zuko before nodding in emphasis.

You make it sound like you're about to go and do something stupid.

[You're not, right? That's more Zuko's territory.]

I'll look after her. I just hope I... don't disappoint her.

[Because she's not pretty and she's not good with people and she does do stupid things. She can't expect Aoi to have as much patience with her as her uncle did.]

I don't plan on it anytime soon, trust me on that. Still... with how unpredictable things can be in this place, even I can't say that I'll be able to stay away for long.

[ Naegi can't help but smile sadly, sighing quietly as he unconsciously hugged himself. ]

Trust me, Zuko... when Asahina-san finds someone she cares about, she's not going to let go. Even when things get rough, she'll stick by your side no matter what. That's the kind of person that she is.

[Maybe Aoi can do better. Okay, Zuko's pretty sure she can do better, but she's trying to give herself the benefit of the doubt. A little.]

I'm trying not to be. But it's not like I've had any practice, and I've never been that good at anything the first time around.

[You mean her speech about failure? Where she kind of expects to fail a lot but she tries anyway because maybe this time she'll be wrong?]

[ Naegi sighs quietly, knowing that feeling - even if his terrible luck weren't a thing he still had his fair share of moments of being frustrated at himself for failing... ]

Even with all the practice in the world, no one's ever truly ready for anything... I think all we can really do is just keep moving forward regardless.

The only way we truly fail is if we stop trying, isn't it?
