[Sometime after lunch, Anya takes off to look for two of her best lady friends with a spellbook under her arm and some key ingredients in her pockets.

She's quite cheerful about it, a little oblivious to whatever else might have been going on lately. Cheerful, and insistent. She will track you down.]


[Open to All]
[Later in the day, Bastionites may be surprised to look up and notice that... it's snowing. Not only that, but the temperature has dropped.

At least in the more southerly parts of the Bastion. The farmlands might get a few sporadic flurries, but it isn't cold enough there to stick.

So if you've been missing snowmen or snowball fights or any of those activities that require winter to happen, now's your chance. It's probably not going to last very long.]

Ah, insulation. That makes sense. I think I remember Rosethorn saying something about that...

[He smiles at the memory, and smiles a little wider at her introduction.]

My name is Colin. It's nice to make your acquaintance, Myrrh.

[He bows his head to her in acknowledgement of her greeting.]

Would you care to assist me with gathering some compost for the plants? I'm afraid straw is in rather short supply...

I would be happy to. [Pausing, she glances towards the distillery nearby.] Are the kitchens public? [They seem like the most reasonable place to start, but she hasn't done too much exploring for fear of overstepping unrealized boundaries.] And may I enter your workshop? [As far as she knows, that would be where she'd be most likely to find wood shavings, but she isn't about to waltz her way in without permission if he isn't there.]

We've actually got a compost mound not too far from here. Rosethorn, our resident botanist, set it up before she vanished out onto the Skyway. Table scraps have been going there ever since.

[He smiles sadly at the thought of Rosethorn, he really misses her.]

And my workshop is open to just about everyone. There's one or two exceptions, but you're not on that list, don't worry.

Vanished...

[She recognizes that expression; her father had loved and bonded with humans so deeply, but they were human at the day's end and their lifespans were blinks against his. In her childhood, she heard stories about the five heroes, saw her father with that same smile.

At this memory and this sight of someone longing, something heavy grips her heart.]

...I think that's a wonderful thing to have left behind. She always keeps the plants tended this way. [She smiles, small and soft.] Thank you. If there are wood shavings there, they would be good to add as well—and perhaps a bucket I may borrow?

[He smiles a little wider, and he nods.]

One of these days, I'll find her. In this world or the next. I made her a promise, and I don't intend to leave it unfulfilled.

[He beckons for her to follow him then.]

We should have buckets in the barn. As for wood shavings... I know Rob's been working with the wood, I would imagine he's probably kept the shards and shavings someplace out of the way. Hopefully the compost pile.

[She flutters along behind him, mindful of her distance; those wings can get pretty unwieldy with others nearby.]

I could find it myself, I'm sure, if you don't want to waste time... Ah, but thank you very much.

[He smiles at her.]

Work is work, and I don't have grunts at my disposal to do the basic stuff, so one more task isn't going to break me. But if the wood shavings aren't with the compost, I'm afraid I have no idea where those are.
