Day 309 [Open]

Who: Anya, Ibuki, Patchouli, and anyone else!
Open: Open! Mostly.
When: Day 309
Where: All over the Bastion
What: SNOW!
Format: I'll match
Warnings: It's Anya.

[For Ibuki and Patchouli]
[Sometime after lunch, Anya takes off to look for two of her best lady friends with a spellbook under her arm and some key ingredients in her pockets.

She's quite cheerful about it, a little oblivious to whatever else might have been going on lately. Cheerful, and insistent. She will track you down.]

[Open to All]
[Later in the day, Bastionites may be surprised to look up and notice that... it's snowing. Not only that, but the temperature has dropped.

At least in the more southerly parts of the Bastion. The farmlands might get a few sporadic flurries, but it isn't cold enough there to stick.

So if you've been missing snowmen or snowball fights or any of those activities that require winter to happen, now's your chance. It's probably not going to last very long.]

((OOC: And feel free to just use this post for mingling!]

That's good, on both counts.

[He smiles at her, and turns to look back at the farmland.]

I think I'll keep working just the same. I'm not a fan of the cold.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-16 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Not often exposed to cold.

Weather is meaningless, given a controlled environment. It requires intention.

Only when I go camping on my homeworld.

I really don't like camping in the snow, but mom and my sisters enjoy it.

[He smiles sadly and he shakes his head.]

I prefer climate control, nice and warm. Occasionally rain in the arboretum.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-17 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
[River slowly draws her arms in closer to her body.]

She's a sister.

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-05-18 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[He watches her for just a moment, then he looks skyward. He suspects she wouldn't appreciate being watched.]

Brothers and sisters, the eternal tale. Sometimes we get on each others' nerves, but there's almost nothing I wouldn't give right now to be with them again...

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-18 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Who would you give it to?
freedom_engineer: (Irritation)

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-05-18 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
A djinn, perhaps. Possibly Chronos, though I suspect we're beneath his notice. Maybe the Dark Lady. She isn't able to find me though, first thing I tried.

[He rolls his eyes at that one.]

Damn divine spheres of influence.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-21 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
They're not real.

[Surely you should know this.]
freedom_engineer: (Humorous)

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-05-21 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Boy, that was one hell of a hallucination that paid me to investigate one of her captains finances a few months back...

[His eyes twinkle with delight for the first time in ages.]

She paid well, too.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-22 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Doesn't make the money divine.

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-05-22 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't have taken divine currency anyway, too many places wouldn't honor it. Kilocreds and favors are much more valuable.

[He smiles.]

Whether she's a goddess or not, she is a trans-dimensional, immortal, nearly supremely powerful being capable of creating life with a wave of her hand. At that point, the topic of divinity versus sufficiently advanced being becomes purely academic.

And like I've said countless times before. Gods are still people. The only difference is the amount of power they've got in their wells.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-22 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Call it academic, semantics. There's power in a name, it just isn't supernatural the way some people believe. The belief itself, that's real, irrational, hard to quantify, but it's real.

Men around the multiverse have been revered as gods. Didn't make 'em gods.

Gods have walked among mortals. Didn't make 'em mortal.

Then there was the whole time of troubles shenanigans, which is better left up to theologians to debate.

It's just another form of life. Names, classifications, it's all important, but in the end, it's all just a matter of where the dart hits the dartboard.

The fun is when you transcend it. THAT'S when things start getting interesting.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-22 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think you're teaching her something?
freedom_engineer: (Default)

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-05-22 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm always teaching. Always learning, too.

Whether people listen or dismiss me is their choice.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-26 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Not necessarily.

Might consider lessons in listening. Always talking, making noise, never shut up and give anyone your full attention.
freedom_engineer: (Humorous)

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-05-28 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
In the line of work I'm in, if you can't talk and listen at the same time, you're going to get left in the dust.

[He shrugs and smiles.]

The day anything requires my full attention is the day I'm staring death in the eye and trying not to blink.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-05-31 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You aren't looking over your shoulder.
freedom_engineer: (Default)

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-06-01 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not. I've got eyes in the back of my head. Makes things much easier.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-06-01 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[River sits up. Apparently she feels this statement requires proof.]

Turn around.
freedom_engineer: (Head cocked)

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-06-02 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[Colin chuckles quietly, and he does as he's asked. He doesn't know whether she's going to test him somehow, or if she's just going to look for actual eyes on the back of his skull. His sensors, at the very least, will let him pass just about any test she throws at him.]

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-06-02 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
How many fingers is she holding up?

[The answer is zero. Her hands don't move from her sides.]
freedom_engineer: (Head cocked)

[personal profile] freedom_engineer 2015-06-03 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Zero, at present.

Unless you're just waiting for me to answer to lift your hands.

[personal profile] countingthunder 2015-06-04 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
The correct answer is eleven.

[River you don't even have eleven fingers.]

They're invisible.

You didn't specify the spectrum of light to count under, but then, I never asked, so I suppose it's a mutual default under an unclear contract.
