[Sometime after lunch, Anya takes off to look for two of her best lady friends with a spellbook under her arm and some key ingredients in her pockets.

She's quite cheerful about it, a little oblivious to whatever else might have been going on lately. Cheerful, and insistent. She will track you down.]

[Later in the day, Bastionites may be surprised to look up and notice that... it's snowing. Not only that, but the temperature has dropped.

At least in the more southerly parts of the Bastion. The farmlands might get a few sporadic flurries, but it isn't cold enough there to stick.

So if you've been missing snowmen or snowball fights or any of those activities that require winter to happen, now's your chance. It's probably not going to last very long.]

[the dragon didn't seem to register the statement at first, but complicated emotions swirled inside of her momentarily. A human claiming motherhood of a dragon, the very idea upset her as the first thought that came to mind was that perhaps Zuko had slain the parents and claimed ownership but... created by that device in the middle of the Bastion, then?]

It creates life as well?

[... could she perhaps create her own child from it as well? She then turns her attention back to Kizuna, tilting her head slightly and murmuring comforting words in draconian]

[Kizuna only understands the tone, not the words. She trills back at Mitellux and approaches to touch noses.]

It can. Plants and animals.

...I don't think anyone's tried to- make a person.

[Mitellux gently bumps her nose against Kizuna's]

What sort of dragon is Kizuna? Will she grow intelligent?

[Nose bump! Kizuna huffs with some sense of accomplishment.]

Not like you and Paarthurnax. The dragons on my world were a little different.

[But that doesn't make her dragon daughter any less special okay.]

[Mitellux narrows her eyes briefly, noting the second question was avoided, but still... her maternal instincts overwhelm her irritation]

And how big will she grow?

[She puts her nose against the ground, hopefully providing an invitation for Kizuna to climb aboard]

Bigger than either of you, I think.

[What? What? Climbing? It takes Kizuna a second to recognize this as the same kind of invitation that Mommy gives her-- she's never climbed on Paarthurnax! This is so exciting. Yes she is absolutely going to climb on the big dragon, hello!]

[She didn't have much further to say at the moment, distracted by Kizuna's antics. When she's sure the youngster is in no danger of falling, she raises her head to give the younger dragon a higher view of the surrounding landscape]

[Wow. This is much higher than the view from Mommy's head. Kizuna is Impressed.]

I think it's good for her to be around other dragons. If you want to spend more time with her.

[Mitellux has done this quite a few times with her own children, so she's careful not to move her head too much as she replies to Zuko]

Of course it would be good for her. A dragon raised by a human is...

[she trails off, curbing the dull spike in anger she felt rising. Everything around here felt so wrong to her. Humanoids seeking to befriend her, humans raising dragons, and the fact that her entire world was destroyed-]

We've lost a lot from our worlds. I don't think we're getting most of it back.

I was the only one here from mine when I asked for her. Maybe I just wanted another firebender around.

You think it's selfish?

Whether it is selfish or not is irrelevant.

[She was certainly not innocent of indulging in selfishness, but she wasn't going to elaborate.]

... how long do dragons live in your world? Will you pass away from old age long before she is ready to survive on her own?

No. She may outlive me, but she'll be grown well before then.

[At least, judging from stories of her great grandfather Sozin and Avatar Roku, when Fire Nation nobility raising dragons was a thing.]

[she raises up her head again, letting Kizuna enjoy the high up view some more]

She views you as her mother.

[A statement rather than a question, but considering the circumstances, Zuko really was the mother of the younger dragon.]

I will assist in looking after her, then.

[she really... had nothing better to do. Not that she was going to say as much. If she was much, much, younger, she might have forcibly taken Kizuna away from Zuko...]

[Kizuna could recognize the mood got serious but when Mitellux lifts her head again, she's quickly back to being excited and flutters her wings a bit.]
