[Day 308-309, closed and open] They say ignorance is bliss.
Who: Ibuki Mioda, Ippo, Colin, and others???
Open: Open and closed like a door that has no idea if it's a jar or not.
When: The night of day 308, and day 309
Where: Everywhere
What: Ibuki remembers things
Format: Action but ok with changing
Warnings: Dangan Ronpa spoilers, bad feels and probably lots of mood whiplash because Ibuki. Also, ice cream cake.
[Locked to Ippo, night of 308]
[At their house, Ibuki can be found sitting on the couch and clutching a pillow to herself; clad in her pajamas. Her piercings were already taken out for the day, though she hadn't let her hair down just yet.]
[She felt sick after everything she remembered... and she was worried. It'd be well within Ippo's right to turn his back on her if she told him. But ... still, he had to know, right? It wasn't right to keep that from him. She took in a shuddering breath, waiting for her boyfriend to return.]
[Open to all, day 309]
[The next day, Ibuki can be found doing her usual duties around the bastion. Cooking, taking care of the cows, and ... napping?]
[She took naps now and then, sure, but usually never where people can generally stumble across her. For that matter, her naps don't seem to last long as she suddenly awakes with a jerk and a miserable expression.]
[Also notable is the fact that she hasn't bothered to do up her hair or put in her piercings...]
[At some point during the day, she can be found going to the smithy to hand back the revolver she'd gotten there some time ago. Maya was long gone... and then Raile disappeared recently, too. And besides that, she wasn't sure she could trust herself with a weapon anymore... not with those memories floating around in her mind.]
[Locked to Colin, day 309]
[Eventually, she'll be wandering into Colin's workshop...]
[Ibuki's not looking any better than earlier that day]

Working on the network necessities for a surveillance system now. There've been a couple of jerks getting away with things for far too long. Next time that saboteur shows up, I'm going to catch her. Or him. Could be either...
I'm glad that you slept well. I'll do what I can to help you with that when you need it. But...
[Okay, now he turns his head to look at her.]
It's still something you're going to have to face and learn to live with. I can't just whisk it all away every time it comes up.
no subject
...
And, ummm... Ibuki doesn't suppose you have any sage advice on how to deal with the nightmares without magical dancing, then, otousama?
no subject
[Colin shakes his head.]
I need to get the parts for this from the monument, and what I'm designing is going to be smaller than most people here will be used to. I'll be happy to show you what I'm doing, of course, but the tech is going to be beyond what you're used to.
... Of course, vigilance will be very useful. If you see anything out of place and suspicious, let me know.
[He smiles a little sadly as he moves onto her next question.]
Talk about it with people you trust. Don't run from it. Face it with the support you've got. I'm more than happy to listen and lend a hand where I can. But I suspect Paarthurnax will be better suited to actually helping you move past it... Possibly someone else, I don't know everyone's relationships with you. I imagine that Ippo will be able to help some.
no subject
[She nods a bit at Colin's advice. Well, she'd already gotten a good amount of support. Ibuki would just keep going to them then whenever she needed them, then.]
... Soooo... you wanted to know about the simulation Ibuki was in before she showed up here, right? Ibuki's not sure how much she can help describe it but...
no subject
[At least complex enough to be worth his attention...]
no subject
Anyway um, they hooked Ibuki and her friends to this machine that basically downloaded them into the thing. It was supposed to overwrite Ibuki's memories of despair when it was finished.
no subject
[Colin nods.]
I'm familiar with it. Was it expansive?
no subject
[badum tsh]
But um, the simulation itself was just with Jabberwock Island... well, Ibuki guesses islands? Since there was more than one but they were all connected by bridges.
... but because of the virus, Ibuki only got to see four of the islands. Maaan, Ibuki heard that one of the islands had an amusement park on it, but that one was still closed off before the Calamity hit...
no subject
Limited area, then. Not surprising. You all thought it was real, I assume?
no subject
[... she paused at that... remembering that that had been Peko's alibi for... well, there was no point dwelling on that]
But yeah... Ibuki's memories were wiped right after getting put into the thing, so she thought it was real. ... well, actually, there was some whacky stuff that happened but ... we never really thought too much on it. We were kinda more worried about what the virus did...
no subject
Can you define "Wacky stuff"? Or would you prefer to tell me about the virus?
[He'll let her decide where to take this. She'll be more likely to tell him more if she takes her own route.]
no subject
First of all, our teacher in the simulation was this funny stuffed bunny animal thing. Monomi-chan-... wait no, her name was Usami-chan before Monokuma-chan showed up and changed her.
Um, anyway, when we first showed up, we went to this classroom, right? And then the walls just dropped away and whoa! We're on Jabberwock Island just like that! Ibuki heard from a couple of her friends that Usami-chan turned a chicken into a cow, too!
How did I lose track of this? GAH.
A stuffed rabbit for a teacher, that's definitely an interesting avatar choice.
[He watches her, his gaze steady. He wants to pay attention to her face and her shoulders, just for hints of that tell-tale tension indicating he should steer a conversation elsewhere.]
So what was this virus?
so cruel
[Ibuki's an open book. If she was too uncomfortable talking about this, she would've told Colin right away. A lot of the virus business she dealt with post-mindwipe, so it's easier for her to talk about something she's already coped with]
The virus was ... well, it was an AI of Junko-chan, more or less, and... she basically took over the simulation, though she took on the form of Monokuma-chan. Anyway, she messed around with the thing so that it turned into one of those killing games that Ibuki told you about earlier. I'm... not quite sure how it was supposed to work... but eventually she was going to upload herself into our bodies.
I think whoever died in the simulation would have their minds... completely wiped.
Malice, or memory problems? YOU DECIDE!
[It's a disturbing thought, but Colin doesn't think it sounds accurate enough. Too many variables, and not cruel enough of an end-game. He could come up with about a half dozen more despair-inducing things off the top of his head. Still, no sense making Ibuki consider those.]
I almost wish I could have met her. She sounds like she was skilled with computers. Probably would have had to have killed her though, when you can't play well with others, there's really no room for you in society. And if she's got no problem with setting up a killing game, then she's already proven that she's lacking the base behaviors responsible for societies to function.
[Colin likes dueling other hackers. Most of the time it's friendly. And when it's not... well, that's why he's got Merton.]
iyan
A-ahaha... in the end she's just a teenager like Ibuki so um... if you wanted to beat her up you probably could capture her pretty easy, if she doesn't have all her other stuff to back her up.
It was Izuru-chan that put together the virus. He probably made the AI, too? That guy was ... like, pretty much the Super High School Level Everything. One of the reserve course students that volunteered for some messed up project at Hope's Peak Academy to get all smarter and everything.
... Junko-chan, and the rest of us... we all had our reasons for falling into despair. I'm... not defending what she did, because that... that was terrible but... we all had totally messed up pasts. Junko-chan probably had the worst of all of us.
no subject
[It's true that he hadn't asked, but he still has ideas. Killing someone, even if it's just to take over their resources for future goals? Too short-sighted. Not enough pay-off.]
It's my wife that likes beating people up for no reason. The only time I want to see people suffer... well, I don't really. There's no point to suffering if you're just going to snuff someone out. All that does is increases the likelyhood that their spirit won't find rest. A quick death, that usually sends someone to the next world just as quickly.
[Colin shakes his head then.]
Everyone has reasons for what they do. Everyone. Cause and effect is what makes the universe work.
no subject
Except... we all had our special talents. Sonia-chan, the princess. Kazuichi-chan, the mechanic. Gundam-chan, the animal breeder...
...
... if we were just normal people, there's no way we could've done as much damage as we did.
no subject
[He smiles at her, proud and beaming.]
Never underestimate what a normal person can do. Everyone is different, everyone has areas they excel, and everyone has no idea what they can actually do.
To live is to have limitless potential. If more people realized that, what a universe we'd live in.
Don't think I'm making light of what you know you can do... I'm just saying... think of what you DON'T know you can do. Now multiply that by everyone. Everywhere. Ever.
Ah, but I'm getting off track here... Sorry, I'm old, I'm allowed to do that every now and then.
no subject
It's okay.
Ibuki knows what you mean, but... you know, we were all like... top of our class at what we do. We... actually caused a world-wide revolution of despair... how many people can actually do something like that?
... but in the end, Makoto-chan brought down Junko-chan and... he didn't really have any special talent that was recognized by the school. He was only in Hope's Peak because he was randomly selected, as part of their research into Luck, or something? And he didn't even beat her with luck... he just kept pushing for the truth until he and his friends escaped. [... the surviving ones, anyway]
... so, yeah, you're totally right.
...
[She gives him a hug]
Thank you for being here, papa.
no subject
Now, I'm 200 percent right. You've amplified my possibility of being correct beyond the universal norm.
That's a heck of a thing you did.
[He smiles, and he hugs her right back.]
no subject
Ibuki's discovered a new talent! She's now the Super High School Level Correctness Amplifier!
no subject
Did...I come at a bad time? Should I...leave?
Whoops, missed this one... DUR.
You leave now, you're not gonna get the full treatment Ippo.
[His eyes twinkle with mischievous delight.]
You planning on making an honest woman of my little girl?
no subject
Now papa gets to be protective and say stuff like, "You better treat her right or else", at you!
