Day 162 | [OPEN] Swing me these sorrows, and try delusion for a while
Who: Rin Okumura, a certain exorcist, and you
When: Day 162
Where: The Skyway Entrance/Exit
What: It was only a matter of time before some one fell...
Format: Action
Warnings: Character death
[It shouldn't have gone this way...
It shouldn't have happened...
Some one may have gone down for good eventually, actually taken out on the Skyway instead of just vanishing like so many others, but it shouldn't have been her.
And yet it had happened.
A Gasfella of a different color, bigger than any Rin had seen before. Faster, stronger, hitting harder than even two demon exorcists could handle.
And it wouldn't listen to Rin, no matter how much she tried to talk it down. That was what Coin had been encouraging, right? Too bad it didn't work.
They tried to run. Tried, and failed. They were on the end of a losing battle. Night was sporting multiple gashes across her body, and had been knocked around several times. Rin had nearly lost her right arm, making swinging her sword difficult. She had been tossed through two stone walls hard enough to break both of them. So they ran, trying to get back to the Bastion before this two on one battle became even more messy.
But one wrong turn, one poorly chosen direction, and they were cornered.
That's where it had all gone wrong. Night had put herself in front of Rin in spite of her screaming protests. She couldn't fight back, there wasn't enough room, and burning the bastard wasn't working. She put her sword up to block the swings of that massive axe. Hit by too powerful hit, the sword began to crack.
Rin screamed. Begged for Night to stop, to put her blade down so they could run.
Night looked back at her.
A sad smile.
"You've got some one to go back to, don'tcha kid?"
The blade shattered, and Night collapsed in front of her, body still.
Rin could barely remember what happened after that. For several minutes she just... raged. Out of control, howling with anger and tears as she launched herself at the Gasfella. Her fire didn't do much more damage than Night's had, but her frenzied attacks must have gotten to it because eventually it did flee, floating off in a manner that was almost limping.
It took her a long time to calm down after that. Wounds were healing, but her head was spinning and her eyes burned with tears. She eventually found enough strength in her legs again to return to Night, but her body was cold, and the sword lay in shattered pieces around her. Rin touched a piece, but it was as if the demonic enchantment on the blade had been shattered as well. The steel felt just as cold, and the edges were no longer sharp.
She couldn't be dead she just couldn't be dead. Rin refused to believe it. She had to get her back, back to the Bastion. Some one there had to help her.
Slowly, she gathered up the shards, and though she trembled and sobbed, she lifted Night's body in to her arms and stumbled away from that corner they had hidden in. She limped her own way back to the Bastion, taking the pathway back to the Bastion where she landed with Night still in her arms where she fell to her knees and screamed.]

taking care of the body :<
She glances after them, towards the hospital, and then looks to Zulf.]
...where should I take her until the funeral?
[Colin clearly said to take her to the hospital, but that seems strange to Zuko. In her family, this burden fell to the Fire Sages.]
no subject
[He has no idea what Colin could want to do to the body but as of right now, he's one of their more intelligent residents.]
[With no small amount of reluctance, he points in the direction of the hospital only to hold his hand up in the almost universal gesture of 'wait'. They don't want to go there too quickly when Rin is still in the state she's in. Just a moment, and then they'll follow to find a place to gently place Night in one of the hospital's many rooms.]
[Following the 'wait' gesture is another one, two fingers held up before they snap together and point in the direction of the shrine again.]
[How good are you at charades, Zuko?]
no subject
Zuko thought she was following until that last gesture, but now she's about back to her original question. Make up your mind, Zulf.]
What was that about the shrine?
no subject
[One finger, this time, and then pointed towards the hospital. Next, two fingers go up, before they come together to point at the shrine. Get it now, Zuko? Because words aren't happening.]
no subject
First the hospital, then the shrine.
[She's still not entirely sure why the hospital detour, but she can't exactly ask for an explanation from this man, so she just nods. She waits until Rin and the others are out of earshot before adjusting her hold on the body and following.]
no subject
[They should probably go the opposite way from that, after all.]
no subject
She picks a room along that wing, and finally goes to set the body down.]
no subject
[Zulf keeps close behind, making sure Night is handled properly. Once the body is set down, he comes close just briefly to press his fingers along her pulse point.]
[Nothing. No pulse, no heat- he thinks of Urazendra Gate.]
[Looking exhausted, he pulls a seat up next to where she is, hands folded in his laps. Looks like they're stuck waiting here for a bit.]
[Want to have a staring contest, Zuko?]
Guess who's out of bed Zulf :3
Eventually he stumbled on the room Zulf and Zuko were in, and the minute he looked in and saw Night's body...well he'd seen enough of those to know what was going on. He simply came up behind Zulf silently and placed a comforting hand on the man's shoulder; heck, even his voice seemed to be coming back into good standing, even if it was a little hoarse.]
you okay?
no subject
She looks up when Raile walks in. Another patient, huh. It's only at his simple question that she finally thinks to ask the both of them:]
Did you know her?
no subject
[Although honestly, Zulf is just lost in his own thoughts even though they're not very clear at the moment. It's nothing but a spiral of depression and hopelessness. He'd almost thought things were actually turning up when they managed to drag Rucks out from the large plant, but then Raile and now Rin and Night...]
[He nearly starts right out of his own skin when he suddenly feels a hand on his shoulder, shoulders jerking up against Raile's palm and his heart nearly stopping. The look he sends up at the young Mason probably answers the question well enough. The bags under his eyes show the most sleep he's probably had is when he was drugged the other day, and, well... It's probably a bit reminiscent to that first meeting in the Hanging Gardens, the look on his face.]
[Before he can answer, Zuko is speaking up, and Zulf shifts his attention back to her. He gives a nod- whether to Raile's question or Zuko's is hard to say.]
no subject
[He kept a hand on Zulf's shoulder...partly for support, but partly just to give him something to hold onto mentally; something real and physical the man could use to ground himself, anyone with a brain could tell he was suffering.]
She'll get her proper respects though, she deserves that much.
no subject
She gives a nod herself to Raile's remark.]
Yeah...
[After a moment, she hesitantly reaches out to the body, and starts to collect the shards of sword which Rin had carried wrapped up with her, placing them on a nearby table. Zuko doesn't know what significance the weapon had, more than any weapon has to a warrior, but arranging the pieces gives her something to do.]
