Day 158 : Return from the Observatory
Who: Everyone and anyone
Open: Day 158
Where: The Monument + some other locations
What: The group returns from the Observatory with one core, one rescued person, and a lot of salvage.
Format: whatever you like
Warnings: science
[On day 158, two days after they left, the salvage crew returns from the second trip to the Mancer Observatory. This time, instead of answers, they have loot. Lots and lots of loot. Also, they've brought a new person with them!
There is a lot of discussions to have, so have them in here.]

Lacking the rich memories of their more human-looking masters, the lesser Nobodies have an even harder time actually feeling things. But it has picked up on "curiosity," and it might say it feels curious about the man it helped to rescue from inside the plant.
Rucks may have noticed the odd-looking creature earlier with a short blonde boy on the fringes of the Observatory group. It seems no more inclined to approach too closely now, but despite the lack of any apparent eyes, it is definitely looking at him.]

You got a name, there, stranger, or you the quiet type?
[ He ain't got a problem with the quiet types, to be honest. Kid was one of 'em, after all. They can be as useful and kind as anyone. ]
no subject
No, it doesn't have a name. It's been told to think on that, but so far it's been at a loss to come up with a name for itself that its master considers "suitable."]
no subject
You goin' lookin' for one?
[ Might as well ask. Rucks's a storyteller - he can help the Nobody find a name if he wants one. ]
no subject
After a moment, it points at Rucks. He must have a name, right?]
no subject
Happen to be a storyteller, so I've got a broad range of names if you're lookin' to get one. 'Course, takin' names from history ain't always the best choice.
no subject
And it totally thinks his name is spelled 'Rux.' Xs for everyone. It tilts its head at that statement. What makes a name a good or bad choice anyway? It hasn't figured that out.]
no subject
Got a question to ask? [ He smiles, thinking for a moment, before - ] Lemme guess... Don't understand why a name's important? Don't know how to proper pick a name? Don't know if you wanna take a name from history?

All of 'em?

//uses a ton of key kingdom hearts terms because he's a jerk
Lot to ask about, but we've got time, seems like. A name's the thing that makes you you. If someone you knew asked you to just call 'em "Stranger", you'd keep thinkin' of them by their name. It's that kind of thing. Your name's who you are, right 'n proper. Ain't nobody without a name, in the grand scheme of things. It's just decidin' what kind of name fits you and makes you somebody.
[ You won't grow a heart from just having a name, though. Sorry, Samurai. ]
Pickin' a name's not a choice everyone gets. Most parents name their kid from birth, to make it easier for 'em. But when you pick a name for yourself, best to make it mean somethin' to you. Somethin' important. 've heard of men changin' their names to heroes who inspired them, or ones that meant things they took as tenets in their life. That kind of thing.
Names from history're good if there's one story in particular you admire. If you're just pickin' or choosin' a name, then it ain't gonna have any heart in it, is it? That's why you gotta be careful what you choose.
Y' understand me?
yes perfect
Although, its master would probably agree with him. He's had pretty strange ideas about Nobodies from the start. Maybe he wants the Samurai to have a name precisely because it means all these things Rux is talking about.
But the Samurai puts one of its clawed hands over its chest and shakes its head. It doesn't have any heart to put into choosing.]
no subject
No heart?
[ He chuckles; he's not taking this entirely seriously, but rather as a concept. ]
Do ya care about things? About people? Wanna protect 'em?
[ He's taking a guess. You seem like a guardian, Samurai. ]
no subject
After all, part of its job is to protect its master and its master's allies. Part of its job was to rescue this man. And considering the attitude of its master, the Samurai could probably refuse without facing any consequences. Does that mean it does any of this because it wants to, or is it just habit? Would it "care" if its master was defeated? It certainly has a preference for him over the other members of the Organization.
This is a lot more thinking than it's used to doing, but at last it does hold up one finger. One. There's one person it might sort of care about, possibly.]

Ain't that kind of feelin', no matter how small, the kind of feelin' someone with a heart would have?
Even if it's just the bare scraps of emotion, you've sure got somethin', then.
no subject
The bare scraps of emotion, huh? It doesn't sound like much, but it's more than the nothing it's always been told that it has.]
no subject
Alright, then. Y' got any more questions for me?
no subject
Don't expect any attempt at a thank you, though. Its master doesn't have the best manners, so it hasn't really caught on.]
no subject
Hope I was helpful, then. You have a good day, now.
[ He shifts to stand up, giving a little stretch to make sure his back's in the right place and settling his cane so he can support himself with it. ]
