[When Nathaniel calls for one of the all-too familiar meetings regarding cores, he looks pretty unhappy. In fact, he looks like he has some bad news to give. Whatever it is, everyone should come listen, because it's pretty important!]

Both paths have their merits and potential dangers. Personally, I dislike both options, so I will go along with whatever the rest of you decide.

Just remember, if we do decide on the muddy path, tread carefully; the mud may be deep enough in spots to swallow you whole if you don't.

After being his usual quiet self the whole trip he speaks up.]

We should probably poke the ground ahead of us with sticks or something to make sure it's safe if we take that route.

Of course, poking could disturb beasts under the surface. But so would kicking them, so... We're kind of in trouble either way if there are any here.

The dry path might be the safer choice, as a result...

[Zee was heading towards the workshop? Well, Colin's been walking back and forth between the workshop and the hospital for quite some time now, so it seems likely that they'll bump into each other.]

Beside the masks and the potions, we shouldn't have very much, right? Those items shouldn't make running an issue.

All things being equal I would prefer not to fight in the mud.

[not that a bit of dampness would hinder her firebending that much, but it's the principle of the thing. everyone had brought up fairly good points about the lack of sight and mobility.

[Alright, it's not that Zulf meant to find this little party, but he is wandering out with a few Rattletails- they need their walks as much as anything else, excitable birds that they are.]

I'unno... There was a core hunt with some of those weird plants along the way a while ago, and it was really bad for the people who ended up breathing the gas in... [She was there for Jawson's Bog ages ago and it was some shit.] But! But we've made it through marshes just fine before, and that was with a ton of luggage and we got attacked then! I'm sure we can do it again!

[It's only a little mud, guys, quit being worried about getting dirty. Also her crush is backing her up, not that she's like... giving Aoi's vote more weight just because she likes her or anything BUT ANYWAY Zuko is not inclined to change her mind.]

We're a large enough group the small animals have been avoiding us. I think we'll notice anything bigger.

[Zuko draws one of her swords to help clearing the spots where the grass is thick and starts forward into the mud. High boots were an excellent choice here not that she has any other shoes.]

There's no problem with that, really. More than anything, Pokemon are friends.

I think Furfrou is happy just being with the people she cares about most. And one of them seems to be you, really, just by looking at how she reacts to you.

[ Furfrou happily nuzzles Nagei at that, proving Hilda's point rather nicely. ]

[An through the mud they go! Fortunately, the mud itself is not very deep. Even at the deepest parts it only goes up to barely enough to cover someone's toes. It will eat up any shoes that are not tightly affixed to a foot, though, so watch out.

The tall grass is indeed the biggest problem for the time being, though. Zuko cutting it down helps, but eventually the group will suddenly see large spikes spitting out of a patch of grass at them. Said spikes look big enough to do some serious damage, so watch out!]

You're not going to believe it. I actually found these by a box over by the edge of the Bastion!

[Anya looks slightly confused by their reactions. She was being completely sincere, she's honestly glad Megaera is not bleeding on things anymore.]

Oh no. You are not starting a food fight.

[Colin frowns, and he holds out his hands.]

May I take those? I need to look them over.

[He glances at Zulf. Does he trust Zulf enough to voice his suspicions?]

Any idea what they'd be doing out there? Nathan was looking for them a few days ago...

[Though she makes no move to initiate a food fight and just noms more of her ice cream]

[As the spikes start shooting, Megaera steps forward. Then...]

Mage armor!

[A glow forms around her body, helping to reduce the impact of the spikes hitting her - and thus not anyone else.]

Need to torch that source or something!

[azula does her best to get out of the way of the spikes. it's not as graceful as she might've been without MUD on this way she didnt want to go, but it's okay. torching is definitely her specialty but this whole limit has her wondering if they shouldn't conserve. she casts a look over at zuko.]

Sister - would you like to do the honors?

[Otoha darts out of the way, and draws his sword. If they want to conserve...}

I can take it out if we need to get up close.

[Speed's always been his thing. If he can go fast enough to dodge around gunfire, he can probably handle a plant.]

[Rob's general lack of speed, combined with his poor reaction time against fast ranged attacks and the mud, doesn't help this situation very much; one of the spikes grazes him on the left side of his rib cage, passing cleanly between two ribs and leaving a deep gash. He lets out a pained grunt but maintains his grip on his sword and remains alert for further attacks, wishing he had a decent ranged attack option.]
