Day 298 (Open)
Who: Colin Starfury, and anyone else who wants in.
Open: You bet'cha
When: Day 298, all day
Where: In various places around the Bastion
What: Keeping the moving parts moving
Format: Starting with prose, but good for whatever.
Warnings: Colin. Also, Colin's still fairly surly. Also, PUNS.
Ever since the time travel revelations a few weeks back, Colin has pretty much devoted himself entirely to his work. With Yukio's disappearance, that devotion has expanded into areas where Colin would normally not tread. When he's not been working on practical problems and projects, he's been studying. To say that he hasn't made much of an effort to seek out social interaction is something of an understatement.
Today is no exception. After the morning chores Colin immediately retreats to his workshop where he sets to work on repairing the mechanical Pyth that had been so badly damaged before. It's looking much better now, perhaps almost ready to be reactivated. He's going to need a large shard for that, though...
Shortly before lunch, Colin leaves the workshop and heads to the monument. The holographic information terminal is his destination, and he's going to spend a half an hour or so working on it. It hasn't seen as much use as he'd hoped it would, but he supposes that's not terribly surprising. Most people probably don't even know what it is, and he can't change that without making it intrusive, thus defeating the purpose of making it approachable in the first place.
When he's done with that, and after grabbing some lunch, Colin will return to his workshop to finish one of the jobs he's been eager to finish for quite some time. The flying craft that they'd brought back from the observatory just needs a few final touch-ups, and then it will be ready to go. He's tested this thing thoroughly, made improvements where he'd seen fit, and replaced any number of outdated technological concepts with things that will work better and more efficiently. It doesn't even look Caelondian any more. Which is probably for the best, given that it's going to be the fastest way to get to the Ura settlement from here on out, to say nothing of any other destination on the Skyway.
If anyone feels like bothering him at any point in the day, he's certainly not going to turn down the company.

"Uhm. He likes salty things? Might have to dig around to see what's available right now..."

That said, Takane's going to continue to be quiet and kinda hide behind Colin because how does she people.
no subject
no subject
"Might help if it comes from you."
no subject
But she looks at Colin, then looks at Rin, then stammers out a response.
"U-Uh, I ... guess so."
no subject
He turns his attention briefly back to Rin, and he nods. "That was my plan," he says. "Bring him over with food from me, then let Takane give him a piece of two. Hopefully I'll be able to extend a little of his trust from me to her."
He gives a friendly little grin to Takane. "If she's up to it, of course," he adds. "I'm not about to force you into anything."
Except, you know, dragging her to meet a squirt in the first place.
no subject
Rin twitched visibly, but her thoughts stayed internal despite the overwhelming urge to call Colin on it.
"Go for it. Just don't overfeed him. He gets all sluggish and can't float well if you do that."
no subject
"You've already forced me to come here."
When she said she might be up to meeting the Squirt, she didn't mean right this very second, bro.
no subject
But there was no point in protesting it. He glances to Takane, smiles, and gives a simple nod. "Ah, we misunderstood each other then," he says. "Sorry about that. Just let me know when you want to do it. I'll just head back to my workshop then."
He gives Rin a parting nod, then, and he turns and walks out to head back to his workshop.
no subject
"... well that was fuckin' awkward," Rin muttered once Colin was heading out, letting out a sigh and rubbing the back of her head. She turned to Takane, shaking her head slightly.
"He does shit like that. You gotta speak up or he's just gonna drag you in to whatever insane thing he's doin' that minute."
no subject
"... My boyfriend says I should talk to you and try to make friends."
She's just. Not very talkative.
no subject
"Heh, you don't have to if you don't want to. Ain't like I'm the easiest person to make friends with here."
That token would probably go to Ibuki.
no subject
"You ... gave him a fitting nickname."
That's actually funny. And gets a small smile out of Takane. The smile disappears and is placed by a bit of a red face and an awkward stance.
"I probably ... should try to talk to people. I'm just not exactly a people person."
no subject
And Haruka had walked out of there with a smile and a cheerful "Thank you for the meal!" as though he hadn't just ingested a truck load of food.
"Not everyone is. Hell, I didn't used to be. Then again most people were scared of me..."
no subject
Takane sighed.
"Sorry he did that."
no subject
"I used to be a lot meaner than I am now. Most people don't wanna be around someone who sends kids to the hospital on a regular basis..."
A fact she's not proud of, but it happened and she's come to accept it as a part of herself same as the demon heritage she holds.
"Eh, we aren't hurtin' for food like we used to. Still, I'd like some warnin' when he's gonna do that..."
no subject
"Still, he doesn't need to be coming in and hogging all the food when there's a lot of people here to feed ..."
no subject
"That's true. Does he seriously always eat like that?"
no subject
Takane sighed.

Poor, Poor Takane.
no subject
She knew what she was getting into when she told him she liked him.
"... I should probably get back to him."
