Day 288

Who: Paarthurnax and you
Open: Open
When: 288
Where: About the Bastion in general
What: The daily life of a dragon
Format: Any
Warnings: None yet

Life goes on in the Bastion. Whether death, calamity, or simple misfortune, that is how things work. That is how it goes for Paarthurnax, as well.

In the morning, when the sun is still faint, he takes off to the Skyway and doesn't return for some hours, bringing back both shards stuck in his teeth and the meat of a mammoth to eat, or share.

In the noon and some hours following it, he teaches his class at the stone tablet with its letters in his own tongue, patient and careful for both new students and more practiced ones alike.

The only change to this seems to come in the evening. It's then that people might notice him at the Monument, drawn up high as he sits and inspects the device.

People are free to talk with him during any of these times. Paarthurnax has always made it known that he can be approached, after all.

"... It is. I've done a lot of different jobs over the years. I'm just glad I can help, since... I'm not the sort of person who's a fighter. I'm not even much of a battler anymore." And considering the Pokemon world in general... it's kind of a bad skill to not have.

"... I know. It just seems that the Bastion has a lot of those."

Torkoal stands up and plods over to nudge AZ slightly, and he smiles a little more.

"A lot of things at home are set up for battling... but there's ways for people who don't battle to do things, too. Pokemon can do a lot of labor, but often they need to have a Trainer who can help put things together."

There's a quiet noise as he thinks, something along the lines of a hum.

"Sigilyph prefers scouting. He's older than most but still acts like he's fairly young, so letting him have fresh air is ideal. Golurk helps me with heavy lifting and is the one I usually take with me for walks, since he and I usually go about the same speed. Torkoal just likes helping people, and helps me cook sometimes since his shell is always warm and he's more than happy to hold a pot on his back. Floette prefers spending time near the plants and avoid battling as a whole which... I don't blame her for. Eevee just seems to want to do... everything. She might be getting ready to evolve, since I've noticed she's got even more energy than usual."

"... Since I haven't gotten any evolutionary stones from the Monument, it's one of three options. It could be Sylveon which is a Fairy type like Floette, Espeon which is a Psychic type, or... Umbreon which is a Dark type."

He sounds a little more... uncertain on the last one. "I've tried to leave it up to her to figure out what she should become."
gianthobo: (oh who would ever wanna be king?)

"... I don't have very good experiences with them. I try not to... rule an entire group of Pokemon out like that... but the Pokemon I captured to use in the machine to bring back Floette was a legendary Dark and Flying type. I don't mind other people training them - I get along with Zoroark just fine. It's just when I train them... I've never felt very comfortable with them."

... And he knows he needs to get over that, but it's hard, even after all this time.
gianthobo: (couldn't believe what I'd become)

"Of course. I'm just... not confident that I'll be able to train her as much as she needs. She'll always be part of my team, though."

And as far as he's concerned, a trainer's team is part of their family.

"Maybe. N might be able to. He and Zoroark get along just fine."

He may just have to suck it up and get over it, but stubborn is as stubborn does.

"I'm sure. We'll just have to see how she ends up. It's partly up to her, after all."

He wouldn't want to push her, after all.
