The library's door was kinda heavy. As usual for a library, really, as far as Megaera could tell. Some historic implication that seemed to be across multiple worlds, perhaps. As if to emphasize that what was within was Important and Sacred, somehow. Which, to be fair, it was, as far as the redheaded devil was concerned.

Perhaps this was why she'd thought it worth ducking in to chat with the building's master, and exchange ideas. Or possibly other things. It all depended on how the conversation went. But one thing was certain: Megaera liked Patchouli's concept of priorities, and she wanted to make it better.

As she set foot in the library, she let her heels 'click' distinctly against the floor, so that her approach could be heard as she started looking around for Patchouli Knowledge.

Patchouli wasn't expecting a visitor this late. However, fortunately for Megaera, she was currently on the bottom floor of the building and easily heard her entrance. Two things were immediate about it: a. it was an entrance that was meant to be heard; and b. it wasn't Ibuki. This in mind, Patchouli approached slowly and carefully. Whoever it was wasn't going away any time soon, that much was certain.

She wasn't really surprised to see Megaera at the door; she seemed like the sort who would be interested in visiting the library, she thought.

"Hello, Megaera," she greeted the redhead, in an unusually cheerful manner. So far, she hadn't done anything to really irritate Patchouli.

Megaera nodded politely, then bowed lightly before walking in towards Patchouli. "Hello, Patchouli. I figured I'd finally take some time and give this place a proper look," she explained. "Proper libraries were... Not the norm where I lived before, so this is really.... Honestly, nostalgic to when I was a student."

"I feel as though I should have expected to see you come here much sooner," she noted, "even without knowing that much.

"How have you been, though? Is there something I can help you with?"

"I've been well," Megaera observed. "Besides how much has gone on the past few days. Colin's work has gotten me thinking about what this whole place needs... And Ibuki's, in turn, about what it wants."

She stopped a couple paces from Patchouli, finally taking time to look at the wizardess. To try and appreciate her form, having witnessed her abilities so many times...

"I mean, I have a lot of shards, so I was kind of here pondering ideas, as much as anything else."

"So, you feel you must put them to use? ... I suppose, though, I do have a fairly large supply myself, which I could put to some use. This one library alone is not nearly enough for me, and Colin did suggest getting an annex for all of his information in hard copy form... Maybe I could even almost rebuild my original library!

"Still. Tell me your ideas, Megaera?"

Megaera calmly moved to sit down where she could easily face Patchouli.

"Pooling resources to expand this place seems like a very practical choice for me, for one," she observed. "It'd be a good thing for me, as well, of course."

Patchouli... Definitely liked comfort over looks. That was clear from how she dressed. Still, she was definitely rather pretty.

"How many shards did you spend on this place?", she asks after a quick thought or two.

"Only eight hundred," Patchouli stated. "I still have at least three thousand, I think. I could build about four more buildings just like this, by my resources alone. I'm not entirely sure if I could maybe form the all into one building, though, but I'm still not perfectly certain of some things regarding spending shards."

She hasn't had much need to spend shards, really.

Nor Megaera, really. But now she wanted to...

"This place is a good start, but I do think we want larger, and I think we can make that. You shouldn't have to use only your own shards for it, either. You're not the only one interested in this place, after all."

Megaera looked around a bit. "Wizards and libraries. It's just a thing."

"Certainly. And even if it's just us two spending on it...

"Between us, imagine what we could be capable of." She could create something far more impressive than the Scarlet Devil Manson. Granted, that probably meant most of it would end up collecting dust, but it was a nice idea.

"You and I think much alike," Megaera said with a chuckle, leaning in a little.

"You're cute, you know that?", she then continued, looking to see how Patchouli reacted to that.

"Oh?" She'd been told as much before, but not by Megaera. Besides, what made her so cute, anyway, she wondered.

"Why, that's quite kind of you to say, Megaera..."

Megaera smiled, leaning in as if to hug Patchouli - though, in reality, she was carefully observing the purple mage's reaction, to see if she was receptive to this - if she was attracted to the redheaded devil on some level.

"It's true, though. And you've got confidence, too."

Patchouli leaned back a little. Not nearly as much as Megaera leaned in, though. She welcomed closing the distance, but at a careful pace.

"You're quite the adept flatterer, Megaera."

Megaera stopped approaching as she noticed Patchouli start back, though she was definitely closer to Patchouli than she had been. "Perhaps. Though I'd definitely be lying if I said there wasn't actual attraction I'm thinking of."

"Megaera..." Patchouli wasn't really used to having others being actually attracted to her, as more than just a friend.

"Well, I didn't expect to hear that from you, I must say."

Megaera chuckled a bit, leaning in a bit more. "I mean, it's your choice. But I figured having someone might be nice for you. Especially someone who respects libraries as much as you."

"Well, I guess I am alone all the time, and that's not that healthy, right?

"Well... I guess it'd be better if I were with someone I shared a common interest with, indeed." She even smiled a little at this! She also didn't back away as Megaera leaned in.

Megaera smiled, finally making a move to out-and-out hug Patchouli - nothing particularly sensual, but more just pulling in close to her.

"Yeah. It's... It's something I've kind of realized as late, myself. Being alone just isn't a good thing. It's not what people should be..."

Patchouli didn't react, but she didn't seem to mind, either -- she didn't withdraw, her expression did not turn sour.

"I suppose so, you're correct. It seems normal to me, I guess, because I've spent much of my life alone -- of my own volition, mind you."

"... I was the same way," Megaera observed. "And... Really, I guess it took worlds literally ending for me to realize that I didn't like that."

"I knew when I arrived here I'd have to change my patterns a little. I... didn't really ever think I'd get very attached to anyone here. I didn't think I'd really like anyone, I guess. That said, though, I certainly have become fond of some who reside here -- you included."

Granted, that was primarily as a friend at best, and yet...

"To know you can trust others is not always the easiest thing... But it's worth it. To genuinely care for people is special - it's what makes sentience worthwhile."

Megaera smiled, nuzzling in just a bit - still holding the hug, as if hoping Patchy might reciprocate.

"I suppose so, yes. Like I said..."

At this, she finally did, if only slightly, return Megaera's embrace.

"Like I said, I do value you."

Megaera giggled a bit, smiling as she looked into Patchouli's eyes. "Thanks... It honestly means a lot to know my feelings are reciprocated," she responded after a few seconds.

She wasn't sure what to say next now... Funny, given her kind were supposed to be the supremely confident seductresses...

"You're welcome, Megaera."

Patchouli, though, wasn't sure exactly where to go with this, either. Well, that was more because she tended to not take the lead in any relationships. She would let Megaera set the pace while she slowed it down.

... After a few seconds, Megaera figured that out enough to give Patchouli a quick kiss on the cheek, then slowly break off if she didn't make a move of her own.

"... Mind, that's definitely not all I came here for. Not when there's what we have in common to really work out."

Patchouli's cheeks turned very, very red at the kiss. It wasn't even remotely disliked, but it felt a little unexpected.

"Yes, I... think it might be best to talk about your primary purpose for being here, lest this situation become too awkward."

"That's unless, of course, you'd find it more fun to get more awkward," Megaera said with a chuckle.

It was pretty obvious she was teasing... Though it wasn't too hard to believe she'd go along with something if Patchouli wanted it.

"That won't be necessary," Patchouli responded, as dry and serious as ever.

Sure, she had a basic idea of what they would be doing, but that was it.

Megaera nodded politely, stepping away with a smile as she switched gears.

"Suffice it to say, I've been thinking on that too. I think a lot of the initial shelf space for the library, by necessity, might be be better off starting empty, so that we can bring in useful collections over time via further use of Shards, based on what knowledge the Bastion could use. That'd let us focus on expanding it. It might, just in case the Bastion ever comes under attack, also be wise to build the place out of sturdier materials, such that it could become a defensible point in a pinch."

Practical thinking was key to Megaera's existence...

"I don't see it ever coming down to that," Patchouli noted, "but I don't see why we can't reinforce the future building. As for the other part... certainly. As I'd stated, the idea of an annex to contain Colin's information had been passed around; I don't see why having even more space would be an issue."

"A library should be open to all who seek knowledge... But to protect against those who would seek its destruction is also important," Megaera observed. "A sad lesson my world's history has learned."

She shrugged. "Space for the database and other things seems a wise choice, though."

"Most certainly," she responded. "Emergencies must be planned for as much as possible. I suppose that things could change, and we might need to worry about an invasion of the Bastion.

"Much as I'd... rather not think of said invasion being possible."

"Me neither, trust me... But if I fail to deny the possibility, then I feel that I will regret it..."

"If we don't prepare for it, it will happen, right? A common sentiment, and... honestly, not unfair.

"Perhaps we should be taking notes, yes?"

"I've got all the key points memorized, but perhaps. Have anything handy?"
