Day 240 - [Boxing Intensifies]
Who: Ippo and you!
Open: Open
When: Day 240
Where: The Bastion - The New Kamogawa Boxing Gym!
What: [Muffled Boxing in the background]
Format: Will match
Warnings: None that I can think of
[It was finally done. Ippo couldn't help but let a small tear slide down his left cheek as he stared up at the spitting image of the Kamogawa Gym; for all the shards he'd spent, every last one had felt completely worth it. The feel of the wall as he placed his hand against it, the smell that washed over him as he opened that familiar door, the sound of his feet squeaking against the floor as he entered...it was all exactly the same as he remembered it and in that moment, he couldn't have felt any more at home. Sure he was still on a tentatively floating rock in the sky, and sure nothing was ever going to bring back his world or all his friends from the calamity, but this was definitely as close to all that as he could get, and in that he was content.
He smiled with a sense of nostalgia as he climbed up into the sparring ring with a pair of gloves and closed his eyes; if he focused hard enough, he could almost hear the sounds of the gym come to life. The laughter, often muffled by the sound of leather meeting leather and jumping ropes slapping the floor in synced rhythm; the sound of constant movement and the coach's barking orders that somehow cut through the din like a sharpened knife. As he slipped the gloves on and strapped them up with his teeth, one might notice the most peaceful expression crossing his face in the 5 months he'd been here.]
"I'm home...!"
[Welcome, one and all to the Kamogawa Boxing Gym version 2.0! Not that it's really any different than the 1.0, but that's neither here nor there. Where is here are a multitude of things you can work out with! Heavy bags, speed bags, double-end bags, clothing bags! More bags than you can shake a boxing glove at! We've got lifting weights and jumping ropes! Or jumping weights and lifting ropes if you're into that sort of thing, no judgements! There's even a regulation sized sparring ring for all your training and dispute settling needs, complete with gloves and headgear for those tough to settle arguments like putting the seat down! So, to everyone who has any desire to get stronger, or is even just curious about the new building that's suddenly popped up, feel free to come on by!]

What's this place?
no subject
[Ippo was already floating around the ring as if he was walking on air, throwing jabs into the air with practiced ease; it had been a long time since he'd felt this comfortable and he seemed to be enjoying it for all it was worth.]
If anyone wants to come and use the equipment, or learn how to box, this is the place for it.
no subject
[He gets the sense that there's more to it but... he has no idea.]
no subject
[That was the basics of it at least, so it wasn't an inaccurate assessment.]
There's some more finesse to it though.

Most of the equipment is unfamiliar to her, but she can at least recognize the ring as something meant for fighting.]
A new training building?
no subject
Exactly! I was able to make an exact copy of my old gym, so if anyone wants to use what's here, they're more than welcome to.
no subject
[She walks farther in, coming up to one of the bags and giving it a light shove to see how it moves.]
no subject
[He pointed towards some of the other equipment, the weights and jump ropes might be a little more familiar.]
Heck, it would probably be ask around and see if anyone has ideas on other things we can put in here!

A boxing gym?
no subject
[Ippo was over to the side slightly, his right hand effortlessly batting a speed bag around even as he looked over to Rob with a smile and a wave of his free hand.]
Even if boxing isn't for everyone, this is still a good space for exercising and practicing unarmed fighting.
no subject
Rob starts walking around the perimeter of the room, looking at the equipment and getting flashbacks to gym class.]
Think I'll stick with trying to learn to use a sword before I look into unarmed combat again. Did kung fu for a few months when I was in high school, but I don't remember much from it anymore. Wasn't good at it anyways.
[He doesn't sound disappointed or upset when he says that, just resigned to the fact that it was yet one more thing he couldn't do as well as he wanted to.]
no subject
Well, there's more than enough here for regular exercises. Takes more to use a sword than just the sword itself, right?

Ippo, you in here? I assume this place is yours?
[Yep, he's going to walk in and look around for Ippo. He's been waiting for Ippo to make this place...]
no subject
[A voice called from the staircase near the back as the man himself came down them, giving his friend a friendly wave of the hand.]
That's right, I finally got around to purchasing it! A spitting image, don't you think?
no subject
[Colin gives Ippo a warm grin and walks over to him.]
I'm guessing you've been putting everything through its paces, eh?
no subject
[He said with a grin, giving a heavy bag he passed a few fond pats.]
I've just been getting everything set up more or less. Thanks again for helping get all the old equipment back to the Bastion.

He can't help but gasp a bit as he looks around, suddenly reminded of an old friend as he runs a hand over one of the dumbbell racks. ]
Was this always here before...?
no subject
[Have an overly happy boxer leaning over the ropes of the ring as he smiled down at the newcomer.]
You're the person we found in that creepy school; Naegi, right? What brings you here?
no subject
[ Naegi can't help but smile at Ippo and wave, though he does grimace a bit at the mention of Hope's Peak. That was unpleasant for everyone involved, to say the least. ]
Nothing much. I was... actually kinda curious about this place, so I decided to take a look around.

[He's been practicing on the Skyway to keep himself fit well enough, but... Well, he won't lie, it would be a reassurance to do such things in someplace safer so long as the Bastion is standing.]
[So here he is, glancing over the lifting weights to see just how high the go.]
no subject
Any of that work for you? Or should I think about getting heavier weights...
[Came a pondering voice from behind him. What was that about not sneaking up on people again?]
no subject
I believe they'll do fine for me. Still, heavier weights might be something to consider. I'm not sure what our strongest residents can lift, but we do get a wide variety of people. For some, these might weigh nothing at all.
I wouldn't say it's anything you should rush, however.

He had never bothered to do much to keep his body healthy beyond that, though. Medication, parents nagging him to "be careful" and "not overdo things" constantly... that was his "health care", and even the school was too afraid of the liability he posed to let him participate in sports.
But exercise (in heavy moderation) could aid him in his recovery from surgery.
It was worth a try, right? Even if he was being rather sneaky about it and not telling Yukio, Takane or anyone else...
As soon as he saw the gym he made his way over, hoping he did nothing to bring attention to himself. He poked his head around the corner, eyes lighting up at all the equipment.]
Wow...
no subject
Hi there! You don't have to be shy, come on in!
no subject
[Busted.
Though that was to be expected, really. He couldn't sneak around unnoticed forever.
Haruka flushed a bit and slid in to the gym proper, closing the door behind him quietly.]
