[Day 230] We're still not dead! Time to get drunk until we are

So, in the morning, Georges makes sure to stop anyone before they can go out onto the Skyway or get a bite to eat, or basically attempt to carry on with their lives like normal. With the most recent near death experience, he seems to be aiming to be more insistently friendly, apparently.

"Hey there! I got everyone together for some drinks, well, last time since we all needed one after that and I figured why not do it again? Come over to the Distillery later today, and I'll have some things whipped up! Oh- and by the way. That Ura fella, Zulf, he wanted folks to meet up and try and figure a few things out, get a bit more organization 'round here I suppose. If you could pass this around, that'd be great!"

And, sure enough, at around noon-ish Georges has once again set up some things. There are tables just outside the distillery, the largest he could manage (which is just a couple pressed up against one another) done up specifically for anyone who wants to sit around and be responsible.

For those who don't care about or don't trust themselves with responsibility, there's a couple smaller tables scattered about both inside and outside. As usual, Georges is behind the bar with a row of bottles on display. Ask him about them, chat with one another, or just focus on getting utterly and completely smashed, do as you like.

Maybe if you're chatty enough, you might even get roped into something.

[ She smiles a little. ]

[Yeah no, that's not going to work.

Nanaki isn't much of a drinker herself, since she's way underage, but a notebook? Really?

So she will go ahead and go right up to him, and find out what's got the nerd so bothered that he would nerd in public.]

[ Shing pauses as he holds her in his arms, laughing a little in embarrassment. ]

I don't think I'll start, though... I sneaked a bit of Grandpa's alcohol once and almost coughed my lungs out.

Yukio's distracted enough by his book that he doesn't realize Nanaki's coming until she speaks up. He doesn't startle, at least, just blinking at her once or twice before smiling.]

Ah, just some medical notes.

[And by 'medical notes', he means 'progress he's made on trying to turn himself into a self-taught surgeon'.]

That's fine, then! We'll just enjoy ourselves with water. We might have to get a little more of that soon, though, if we both keep drinking it this quickly ...

[ She sighs a bit and leans more against him. ]

I've been thinking ... I want to see if there's anything I can specifically do to help this place out more. I mean, I can hold my own in a fight, so whenever skyway trips happen I can offer myself for that, but what about in-between those big trips?

It's kinda strong. If you don't drink alcohol a lot then it's probably going to be really weird.

I see. What I've gleaned so far seems to be that they all do and most folks just drink them for the alcohol content. Not that I can always blame them.

[ Shing eyes the glass; it's getting pretty low now.

He closes his eyes, leaning into her in kind and listening for a bit before he starts nodding in agreement. ]

That's a really good idea, actually... I approve! It's part of why I went out every so often to check on everyone while the others were out on the Skyway. It would be a good way to make sure everyone was doing okay in this place.

[ He pauses. ]

... maybe the clinic? Since you can heal people, right? They'd definitely appreciate your help, I'd imagine.

Well, some of them are worse than others.

[Granted she's only tried two, but the "squirt extract" was just that bad.]

Oh, no, not just now. [Technically. Sort of.] This is mostly research. It's always best to be prepared, right?

[Hello fellow sober person! Yukio's not headed anywhere in particular, so he stops when Kokaku waves at him, offering a pleasant smile.]

I'm doing alright, Kohaku-san. How have you been?

[Because he really hasn't talked with her much since before the plague.]

[ She laughs a little. ]

Neither of us can ever really stay away from trying to help people, right? But that's not a bad idea ... I think Rin's brother works at the clinic, maybe I can talk to him about it.

Pretty good, all things considered. I'm glad you're doing okay.

[ She gestures to a nearby seat. ]

Do you want to sit down?

So you have someone you're with?

[ She means romantically. ]

[yeah no, Nanaki is frowning now.

Ever so slowly, if she can do it without Yukio fighting back, she'll try to gently slip the notebook out of his hand.]

There's a difference between being prepared and burying yourself in work.

Ahhh. I wouldn't know what that's like.

[ She's kind of madly in love with her boyfriend, and they kinda haven't done the do just yet. But hey, Anya! Thanks to you, they'll be prepared when they go that far! ]

That doesn't sound that bad, honestly. Well, hopefully it's strong enough that I'll forget the taste, I've heard that most of these drinks don't taste very good.
