[Jay's been bored, but he's found a way to alleviate that: he has decided he'll take up music again. This means he's been going around to people's houses and knocking politely.]

[Upon the door being opened, he'd put on his best smile and speak up.]

Darling! You wouldn't happen to have any musical instruments just, ah ... lying around unused, would you?

[Or something to that effect.]

No, but I'm not going to assume on appearances here of all places. I wouldn't have thought that a duck could use magic and attack people with it, but I've seen it happen.

There are numerous worlds, each with their own peculiarities. [Saix gives a slight shrug.] I became aware of that even before coming here.

There was also a dog that could use a shield and a mouse that had a giant key as a sword.

Um. Are you ... sure, darling? You're not talking metaphorically or about false-dreams, are you?

[Saix rubs at his temples.]

I'm not. It would be considerably easier if I was, but no.

[Jay snorts with rather undignified laughter.]

You're from a very strange place, sweetness.

Don't I know it. [Okay, that is perhaps a slight huff.] Although, to be fair, none of them were from my World.

Visiting different Worlds isn't... too unusual where I'm from.

[Jay narrows his eyes.]

Really, now? How?

It depends. Most people are stuck with the task of gathering a rare material called "gummi blocks" and creating ships out of them. There are a few others who can create portals between one world and the next using what are called "Darkness Corridors".

Oh. Hrm. Are those portals ... hard to create? It sounds like they should be easier than using ships, darling.

It does take a... particular bit of know-how, I suppose. I'm not sure if anyone besides Roxas and myself can create such things here.

How do they work, then, dearest?

[Oh, this is going to be a fun conversation...]

In your World, are Darkness and Light elements of any sort?

What? Of course not, that's ridiculous! Light is a type of energy, not a chemical element! And darkness doesn't exist. There is only the lack of light.

I mean in a more... magical sense of elements. Fire, earth, lightning.

Considering that was your first response, I'm going to hazard a guess at 'no'.

No! Not at all. We have regular elements. Like, er, iron and oxygen.

[This is not his strong point. He's a biologist, not a chemist. Well, a sort of biologist.]

Well, we're speaking of more magical elements.

Darkness and Light are two such elements, forces of nature that are responsible for a great many things. All sentient beings such as yourself have both in their hearts, although a very few and unique individuals have nothing but pure Light.

Uh-huh. What are you getting at here, darling?

[Jay rather suspects he'd have nothing but Darkness in his heart.]
