Anyone who happens to be at the pool on Day 221 will see Bon there. Instead of his usual workout, he decided to go swimming.

If you catch him in the pool, he'll be swimming laps. Outside of the pool, he'll be sitting on the edge, dangling his feet over the side and into the water. The latter is probably a better time to go talk to him, actually.

Though racing him is also an option.]

[ SO GUESS WHO DECIDED TO GO SWIMMING.

Well, rather, her going to the pool today was for the sole purpose of making Tirtouga happier by putting him in a larger body of water. And also possibly getting him to socialize a little more, because shy baby is shy. There doesn't seem to be many people at the pool today, though ...

Now there's a Hilda on the other side of the pool from Bon, placing a turtle Pokemon into the water and watching with a huge smile as he swims around happily. She'll get into the water in a moment, she just wants to keep an eye on Tirtouga for a moment.

She does look up at the other guy at the pool, though. You know. The one sitting on the edge of the pool? She waves at him a little. ]

You don't mind if he swims around a little, do you? The pond we have back at the house isn't that big.

[Oh look, it's Hilda and a pokemon! Bon does not recognize this one, because he is not as familiar with the pokemons as some of the other residents, but he figures he'll find out soon enough. They all say their names anyway, so he jut has to pay attention whenever it tries to talk.

But yes he will wave in return.]

I don't mind. It's free for anyone to use, right?

As far as I know, yeah! Just wanted to make sure. I think most people here are okay with the Pokemon, but you never know.

[ Tirtouga is now staring at Bon for a moment before hiding his face and most of his body under the water. Oh noes there's a person here! Hilda sighs and makes her way into the water at this point, patting the little one's head under the water. ]

Tirtouga, it's okay. He's really nice.

[Bon stays up on the side of the pool for now, watching Hilda and Tirtouga. He might be smiling just a bit, too.]

He's a shy one, isn't he?

Yeah, the most shy of the bunch of babies. He seems to have taken a real liking to Aoi, though.

[ She laughs a little and tries to encourage him to come up to the surface. ]

Tirtougaaa ... say hello? It's fine, I promise!

Well, Aoi's always in the water, so that makes sense.

[Bon will stay at the side of the pool, but he leans over a bit, so that he can reach over with a hand and stick his fingertips into the water.]

C'mere, I don't bite, I promise.

[ Tirtouga inches away, but Hilda catches him and keeps him from going any further. He looks up at Hilda, who smiles at him gently. ]

Come on, you'll see it's okay ...

[ Okay, Tirtouga is listening now. He slowly, cautiously inches toward Bon's fingers. ]

[Awwww what a shy baby

When Tirtouga is close enough, Bon holds his hand in front of his face, so that the turtle-thing can smell him first. Dogs and cats do that, so turtle pokemon totally do too, right?]

[ Tirtouga gets up close to Bon's hand for a moment, then bumps his hand with his head. ]

tou!

There, you see? It's all okay. You made a new friend! And you're swimming in a huuuuuge pool.

[It's a good thing Bon was just swimming, or else he might still smell vaguely like the snake demons who hang around his apartment.

The snake demons who have tried (and failed) at least once to eat the pokemon eggs.

But Bon just reaches over to pet the top of Tirtouga's head, as soon as Tirtouga bumps into him.]

It's probably not as deep as the lake, but it's a lot cleaner, so you can see where you're going.

[Then he looks up at Hilda.]

Is this the first time you've brought him here?

[Of course Rin is there. She's not swimming nearly as intensely as he is, but she's there. That's what counts, right?

Except when he said he was going to go swimming she was expecting something a lot... funner than this. Not watching her (admittedly stare-worthy) boyfriend do laps.

So once he's out of the water sitting on the edge he'll find his girlfriend rubbing her wet head in to his arm and whining.]

Ryuuujiiii... are you just gonna swim laps all day?

[Geez Rin, it's not like they have pool noodles in the apocalypse or anything.

Though he is contemplating tossing her in, for laughs.]

Well, not all day, no. Did you want to do something else?

[He is not sure if Aoi keeps anything inflatable near the pool, she seems more like the type to just swim laps.]

[WELL MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE POOL NOODLES IN THE APOCALYPSE.

And don't you dare, she will grab you with her tail and drag your ass back in with her.]

... maybe.

[It would be worth it.

By the way he's snaking his arm back around Rin's back and shoulders.]

Like...diving?

[Awww. Just going to snuggle on in there.]

That's not much of a pool game, is it?

Well, if it's a game you're looking for...

[Yep he's totally knocking her in now.

He doesn't care if he gets dragged along either.]

Wha--

[SHRIEK

Rin goes right in with a splash and a flail, her tail naturally lashing out to snag him by the wrist and hopefully drag him down with her.]

[YEP a moment later Bon is dragged in, and he nearly chokes on water because he's laughing as he falls in.

At least it's shallow enough that they can touch the bottom while keeping their heads above the water?]

Jerk!

[She's laughing even as she says it, though, and there's a playful splash at him for his pool-dragging efforts.]

I shoulda known you were gonna do that!

And yet somehow you didn't.

[He makes a face at Rin before splashing back at her.]

Clearly that just shows how much I trust you or somethin'.

[Hmph. Rude, Bon.]

There's a difference between trust and gullibility.

[And now, in an entirely different train of thought.]

Want me to toss you in the water?

... I ain't gullible.

[You are a little bit, Rin.]

Eh--... yeah, sure.

You are so gullible.

[But it's okay, he likes Rin anyway.]

...though you know, I bet we could get some pool toys, for something to do in the pool. They can't possibly cost that many shards, right?

[Still gonna stick her tongue out at you.]

... yeah, probably not. What would we get?

[So the pool's a popular place today. Oshawott spends a lot of time following Yukio around the hospital, so when normal working hours are over, the little otter has a fair amount of energy to burn. Sometimes a run or even a long walk is enough, but seeing as he is a water Pokemon, the pool just makes sense.

Yukio's in swimming trunks and a t-shirt, looking as laid back as the young exorcist seems able to and offering Bon a smile and a small wave when he spots him. Oshawott, however, doesn't seem to take notice of Bon at all, ignoring him completely in favor of diving noisily into the water.

Hope Bon wasn't counting on peace and quiet. Yukio has the good manners to look sheepish for the both of them, dipping his head in apology and walking around the edge of the pool.]

... Sorry. Would you mind some company?

[The Bon of six months ago would have complained, but nowadays Bon actually prefers the loudness to quiet. A lack of noise just reminds him of how empty the world is.]

Not at all, Okumura-sen- er, -kun.

[Whoops he sure did stumble over honorifics. It's not something he hasn't done before though, and especially now it can be hard to tell what one to use. But he does pat the ground next to him, so Yukio can sit there.]

[It's happened enough that it doesn't seem to phase Yukio. He just smiles again and settles himself at the edge of the pool with Bon, letting his feet dangle into the water.]

We're not in the classroom, Suguro-kun. The 'sensei' isn't necessary. Though I suppose there aren't really any classrooms here anyway.

I know, I just gotta get used to it.

[There's a lot to get used to here, actually.]

You gonna go swimming with your little otter-thing?

[Sure is, some things weirder than others.

Yukio nods and looks over to where Oshawott is splashing in and out of the water. The little guy is pretty graceful... when he's not trying to paddle above water or nearly smacking into the sides of the pool.]

I think I'll let him burn some of that energy first. What about you? Did you come for the exercise, or for fun?

Exercise, mostly. I thought I'd switch it up a bit and try swimming for once.

[It's not too bad, really. It's been warm enough to go swimming, at least.]

...say, do you think we'll have winter here? Or will it always be like this?

[Swimming's a good way to get that exercise. Works out the whole body, and with less stress on the muscles in most cases. Excellent choice.]

It's hard to say. I've been told that even the cycling of day and night wasn't something the Bastion started with, so anything's possible.

Looking for a change?

Change is what we need around here. Not just for everyday stuff, but for everything.

[He's noticed how everyone's been just surviving, and not really living beyond each day. Which they kind of have to do most of the time, they're one accident away from being killed off, but it's draining on everyone.]

Back before you showed up, there was a festival devoted to the gods of the first people here, the ones who built the Bastion. Everyone was so damn happy then. We need something like that again, to give everyone a bit of good to go with the bad.

[Yuki can understand that pretty easily. He's on the medical end of the potential accident problem, after all, constantly worrying that someone will come back from the Skyway with injuries that he can't treat. Or that Haruka's heart condition will take a turn for the worse and Yukio will be forced to preform surgery with no practical practice, an absolutely terrifying idea.

Alright, maybe Yuki's worries are more personal than Bon's. A little selfish, even, but still.]

Hm... So what's stopping us from doing it again?

[After getting tired of the heat, Angelo sees the pool and immediately decides to go swimming in it. But he doesn't have a swimsuit! So what's the next best thing to that? Stripping completely naked. Thus if Bon decides to notice, which I'm sure he will, Angelo is stripping down till he's completely naked except for a few things still on his person. Those being his hair ribbon which he usually uses to tie his hair up on his wrist, a golden rosary around his neck, and a silver ring on his left hand. Once all of his clothes are off, he dives right into the water for a swim.]

[THAT.

THAT SURE IS A NAKED GUY IN THE POOL.

Bon is going over to the side of the pool to yell at Angelo as soon as he sees Angelo stripping.]

Hey, put a swimsuit on!

[Angelo stares at Bon.]

Why? I don't have one and want to swim.

Then wear your underwear or something, or go buy one at the monument! This is Aoi's pool, she could show up at any moment!

Why would I wear my underwear in the water? It'll get dirty. Besides, there's no rule that says I can't swim in nothing.

There may not be a rule now, but if you get caught there probably will be next time.

[Really, it takes all of five minutes to go to the monument and buy something.]

If you need the shards I can give 'em to you, I've got way more than I'll ever need.

What is it with people and rules? And what's shards? Why do I need them?

[Today is a pool day—days where Aoi craves sound and sunlight are lake days, but today she needs the structure of lanes and laps (and okay, maybe, maybe she thinks she might be putting on a pound or two and she needs to boost up her exercise routine to keep up with the extra couple of donuts now regularly in her diet). So she puts on her swimsuit, grabs a towel, and heads to the pool for her daily swim.

There's already someone there when she arrives, which isn't unusual, but it isn't often she finds others doing actual laps. This place is lacking in other swimmers and her attempts at pulling together a proper team...could be going better, anyway, so of course this piques her interest.

Instead of diving in right away, she takes a seat at the pool's edge to watch. She'll challenge him to a race after she's done critiquing his form, of course.]

[His form is shit, by the way. Bon's extent of swimming knowledge is "you move your arms and legs and that makes you not drown", so he's not going very fast. He's physically strong, but there's only so much physical strength can do when someone doesn't know the right moves. Also, he's kind of muscly, which makes him not so aerodynamic in the water.

But eventually he does take notice of Aoi, so when he finishes a lap on the side she's at, he'll stay at the edge and hang onto it as he looks up at her.]

Hey. Hope you don't mind me swimming for a bit, it seemed like a good idea today.

[Goddamn it, Bon, you got her all worked up about swimming for nothing.]

Of course I don't mind! The pool's for everybody! Do you get to go swimming much?

Not usually, but I thought it would be a nice change of pace. Back before the Calamity, I did more weightlifting.

[He can't justify spending the shards to get equipment here, especially since most people probably wouldn't use it.]
