day 220 | it's a piece of cake to bake a pretty--wait, that's not right.
Who: Kohaku Hearts, YOUUUUU.
Open: Open
When: Day 220 (late afternoon/early evening)
Where: The Kitchen and then around the Bastion
What: COOKIES.
Format: I will match to you!
Warnings: Lots of nummy cookie goodness.
[ in the kitchen ]
Kohaku had been spending a lot of time with Shing. So, naturally, she was in a pretty good mood.
And, in her good mood, she'd made a decision. She was going to do something nice for the residents of this place. She knew not everyone was in as good of a mood as she was, and while she couldn't do too much to help with that, she could at least do something. After talking with Rin a little about it, she decided she was going to use the resources the kitchen gave her to make a whole bunch of cookies for the residents of the Bastion.
She'd already made one batch of chocolate chip cookies and set them out to cool while she worked on making another batch.
Oh, and be rest assured, everyone.
She didn't put miso in them.
( feel free to come bug her while she makes cookies! )
[ around the Bastion ]
After making several batches of cookies, Kohaku managed to pack them all up enough so that she could go out into the Bastion and give cookies to the people she hadn't seen already while she was in the process of making them. Everyone needs cookies!
So, whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you're doing, you will likely be greeted with a smiling face today.
"Hello! Would you like some cookies?"

"Hello! Would you like some cookies?"

no subject
"... Sorry. Didn't mean to interrupt."
no subject
"Oh, it's fine ..."
She eyes the cookies she'd just put out to cool.
"Ah, if you'd like, you can have a cookie! I'm making a bunch for everyone here. These just came out of the oven, though, so you might have to wait a few moments for them to cool ..."

"Ow! ... Oh. ... Where's a rag, I'll clean that up." Never mind that his fingertips hurt. That's his own fault.
no subject
"Are you okay?"
She moves to get a rag, wets it, and then hands it to him.
"Do you need ice or something for your fingers?"
no subject
no subject
"Just give them some time and they'll be cooled down."
Kohaku went back to her mixing bowl, but she turned around enough so that she could keep talking to the new guy.
"I'm Kohaku, by the way. I don't think we've met before."
no subject
"I'm Tobias. I kind of... keep to myself a lot."
no subject
Kohaku's obviously doing better now, though.
"Well, I'm glad I got to meet you today, Tobias!"
The girl's practically beaming. She is really in a good mood.

'part-time human' is the best descriptor

Because this obviously has to do with food, Shing ends up following the smell right to the kitchen, spotting Kohaku and the cookie batch as soon as he arrives.
... she hadn't seen him yet, right? ( Though considering that he was very loud in approaching the kitchen itself she probably knew he was here anyway... )
Not that it stops him from approaching her from behind, giving Kohaku a hug as he grinned at her. ]
Guess who~?
no subject
[ She looks back at him and grins a little. ]
I knew it was only a matter of time before you got here. Wanna help me make cookies for everyone?
no subject
[ He doesn't even hesitate as he stations himself next to Kohaku, getting a few things ready to help out. ]
What do you want me to do?
no subject
[ She hands the bowl to him, along with a spoon. ]
There should be 12 on a cookie sheet. We don't have many cookie sheets on hand so we may have to do this a little at a time.
no subject
[ Shing's already working on that batch, spooning out the dough... or attempting to, at least, because the dough keeps falling out of the spoon and back into the bowl. Oops.
He does eventually get 12 lumps of cookie dough onto the sheet, though they are somewhat uneven. That and he also has a bit of dough stuck to his hands as a result. ]
This is a little harder than I thought...
no subject
[ She'll let her boyfrando handle that. ]
Don't forget to put on an oven mitt when you go to get a tray of cookies out of the oven, Shing. You don't need a burnt hand.
no subject
[ Yeah, don't mind him as he goes ahead and - after putting on an oven mitt - swaps out the baking trays, pulling out another fresh batch of cookies with a grin. ]
Oh, this smells so good...

Care to distract him with cookies, Kohaku?

She looked up from her book from a moment. Honestly, she couldn't be too frustrated by this kind of generosity. Plus, at least this has a purpose, unlike the last thing she was given by a generous person.
"That is completely unnecessary," she remarked, however. "But... thank you either way."
no subject
"Oh, uh, sure."
Because really, how can anyone say no to cookies?
no subject
[He might be staring at Kohaku as if wondering why the answer would ever be "No" at any point in time. ...He may also be staring with the expectation that this is a (probably successful) attempt at bribery for some task, and he's now just waiting for an explanation.]
