Day 213, A New Hope (Open to All)

For the past several days, Colin has been busily at work in his shop, preparing... something. Well, that something has been completed. It's a projection screen large enough for a good sized audience, and some mountings for sound equipment. He's already conferred with Anna to borrow her projector for this, and he's been working in secret out at the Dragonfield all day, keeping quiet about his plans. Though, anyone with half a clue what a movie screen looks like could probably figure it out.

After the sun goes down, the Bastion will be greeted with some booming sound and music from out on the Dragonfield. A familiar little jaunt for anyone who's ever been to a movie theater before...

"Let's all go to the lobby, let's all go to the lobby, let's all go to the lobby, and get ourselves a snack."

It seems Colin wanted to get things started in campy style. He checked with Rin earlier, a necessity for this to actually work, and there will be snacks available for anyone who asks.

Once the snack bar advertisement has played and gotten peoples' attention, several movie trailers begin to play, one after another. Some may be familiar to people, some will be completely alien. But Colin's planned this so people can have a wide variety of choices as to what they want to see later, if this actually catches on.

So... who wants to see Star Wars on the big screen?

(OOC: Oh, and since I forgot to mention it, Colin will be reading aloud the scrolling text, since he knows not everyone can read it.)

"So his dad was a hero, too?"

Roxas is not used to thinking about people's parents, much less them doing anything special because there are no parents in Kingdom Hearts. Sora's dad was a fisherman.

"Um... it's complicated." For a kid who grew up knowing the big spoiler it's not such a big deal, but if Roxas doesn't know then it's probably better he see it for himself.

"Oh. I guess it's in the movie, huh?" Roxas doesn't really understand the concept of 'spoilers,' but he can understand not wanting to explain something that he might be about to find out anyway.

"Yeah. Some of it is. More of it is in the next movie, which I bet he's going to show some time soon." He grins a bit and looks back at his sketchbook. A lot of the drawings are of... well. Birds.

"I hope so. It'd be- nice to have movie nights like this."

He glances curiously over at the sketchbook, but tries not to more than glance. "Is it okay if I look?"

He clutches it tightly for a moment, before nodding and handing it over. It's... pretty good. Not professional, but pretty good.

Roxas doesn't even have amateur talent as an artist, so he's not about to be critical. He takes the sketchbook gently.

"These are really good," he says, looking it over with a slight smile. "A- friend of mine used to draw all the time."

"... Thanks. I'm not as good as I used to be, but..." He scratches the back of his neck. "And yeah? What sort of things did they draw?"

Explaining the memories thing seems a little too complicated right now, so he's going to leave that part out.

"All sorts of stuff. People and places she knew. I think- she liked to draw friends."

"That's... kind of nice. I don't really draw people much. Mostly animals. Birds, usually."

He manages to grin a little bit at that.

"I kinda noticed. Are they- any easier to draw once you've been one?"

[notachickenhawk]

"A little. You get a better sense for the biology under them, how everything connects and joints move."

[coolerthansora]

"Huh..." These are things he's never thought about the few times he's attempted to draw.

"Then I guess you could get an idea how to draw- all sorts of animals."

[notachickenhawk]

"Yeah. I know birds the best, obviously, but... well. Some of the things I've been trying to draw I'm not... as familiar with the biology."

He flips the pages in the sketchbook until he comes up with a very rough drawing of a - well, the legs are horselike, but there's a human-like torso rising from it, with a curved blade on the tail.

"Who's that?"

It looks like it should be a who and not a what anyway.

[notachickenhawk]

"I haven't filled in the details... I was trying to draw Elfangor, but I know what his brother looks like better."

[coolerthansora]

"Are they friends of yours?"

[notachickenhawk]

"Elfangor..." His grip on the sketchpad tightens a bit. "He was the one who gave us the ability to morph into animals. He was killed in front of us. Ax... we found later, and he's been fighting with us ever since."

[coolerthansora]

"Oh. Sorry, that's- really hard."

He knows from experience how rough it is to watch someone die, but he's not sure what more to say because he's never taken the time to properly deal with it. Luckily that's when the opening score of the movie finally starts blaring out at them.

"... It is, but it's not like I haven't seen - ah."

He looks up at the movie screen and his features relax some. This is... nice. Normal. He'll have to take a break to demorph, but this is... kind of fun.

Roxas gives him a wry smile. It's probably a good thing to be interrupted, Tobias came here to watch a movie he really likes, not talk about sad things. Roxas didn't come to think about sad things either, so he turns his attention to the screen, too.

"Oh, there's an introduction..." That is a big wall of text.
