[ Day 210 ] When darkness falls and surrounds you... be brave, I'm coming to hold you now... (Open)
Who: Shing Meteoryte, Anyone.
When: Backdated to Day 210
Where: From the Skyway and right into Bastion itself.
What: GET TO DA BASTIOOOOOOOOOON
Format: Either or!
Warnings: Blood, injuries, the usual.
[ Shing could almost hear the relief in his tone as he'd noticed the Bastion ahead of him.
With a shout, he swung his sword in a wide arc - rushing forward and slamming into the monster in front of him and slashing it as distraction before using the momentum from his strike to propel him forward.
It was enough to help him dodge the rest of the monsters and run right into the Bastion itself, where he finally collapsed against a nearby building, panting and gasping. ]
Ow...
[ He winces as he glances at his shoulder, which was torn up pretty badly from when one of the monsters attempted to make him its lunch. Of all the times to not have any healing items on him...
Still... he could probably find something here, right? Wherever here was - it was only then that the full gravity of his predicament had hit him, especially since earlier he was more concerned about getting away from that monster mob that ambushed him when he'd first arrived. ]
Kohaku--?! Hisui--!? Beryl...?!
... anyone?
[ OW HE IS REMINDED THAT JACKED UP SHOULDER IS JACKED UP not that it really stops him from pushing forward and wandering around town a little more like the derp that he is. ]
... where am I?
( OOC EDIT: Just noting that

Placeholder for Kohaku thread
HER BOYFRIEND SENSES WERE TINGLING. or maybe it was just soma link. it was probably that.
She shot up into a rigid sitting position as she heard Shing's voice through soma link, eyes wide. This couldn't be happening. Everyone was gone, right? Her world, her brother, her boyfriend, all of them were gone, weren't they?
But no, that soma link had come through as clear as a bell, and when she concentrated, Shing's presence was felt.
Nothing could stop her now. Kohaku scrambled to her feet, stumbling quickly out of her apartment and sprinting all the way to where she could feel Shing's presence. ]
Shing?! Shing!
[ She couldn't see him yet. She had to see him. She had to know this wasn't just some amazing dream she was having, where someone she knew and loved from her world was alive and well.
Please be real. Please! ]
is that what we're calling the Soma Link now, people senses... XD
And then he'd felt the light of the Soma Link coming from nearby. There definitely was no mistaking it now. ]
Kohaku--?!
[ Now he's running back in the opposite direction, towards where the Soma Link light was directing him - towards her.
She'd probably see him first before he sees her, at this point. ]
I'm here--! Kohaku--!
MAY AS WELL. though it only works with other soma users. sad day.
He was here ... he was really, really here!!
Kohaku rushed the rest of the way toward him and immediately wrapped her arms around him, tightly. She didn't care that he was bloodied and bruised and that the hug was probably causing him some amount of pain, she had to hold him, she had to confirm all the more for herself that he was here, and he was real. ]
S-Shing ...
[ Her voice is tiny and shaken. It doesn't take long for tears to well up in her eyes and roll down her cheeks as she buries her face into his (good) shoulder.
It also doesn't take long for a light to envelop both of them. GUESS WHO'S GETTING HEALED. Hint: it's yoooooou. ]
sadness. oh, well... D:
[ Yeah, it does hurt when she hugs him tightly, but he's not only to exhausted to, he just doesn't have the heart to push her away as he returns the hug with his good arm, initially.
Then he can feel his shoulder being healed up from her healing artes, and he's finally able to embrace her more fully as he rubs her back comfortingly, just letting her cry as long as she needs to as he lets out a quiet sigh. ]
It's okay... I'm here now...
no subject
There's so much she wants to say, but she can't seem to bring herself to say any of it. She's too busy crying into his shoulder and holding onto him as though he would disappear again if she let him go. She's going to be like this for a while, sorry Shing. ]
no subject
That said, he's still not entirely sure what just happened - or where he is, but... he opts to wait until Kohaku's recovered enough to ask. Besides, he's more concerned about her than anything else at the moment... ]
no subject
I'm so glad you're here ...
no subject
[ Shing continues to hold her and comfort her, one hand shifting to gently brush the tears off her cheeks and out of her eyes. He's not sure what happened, but considering that it affected her this greatly...
Yeah, he's not going to be letting go of her anytime soon. He gets the feeling that she wouldn't want him to let go of her anyway. ]
... I'm glad that you're here, too. I'm sorry that I didn't get here sooner...
no subject
[ She sniffles a little and wipes more tears away with a laugh. ]
I-I don't mean to be pessimistic about it, I mean ... um ...
S-Shing, I ... I need to tell you about this place. And it's ... It's not a very happy story.
[ She pulls back a little, but grabs his hand and keeps a hold on it. ]
I have a place here. You're staying with me.
[ That's an order. She tugs on his hand. ]
I'll explain once we get back there.
no subject
[ Oh. Right. He'd been so concerned about Kohaku's wellbeing that he'd honestly forgotten where he'd ended up in the first place.
Wasn't he in town to find out what was going on, anyway...?
Though Kohaku was always a welcome and much-needed distraction from that task just by being herself.
Either way, he nods quietly, a serious expression setting in on his face as he squeezes her hand in confirmation and starts following her to her place. ]
All right... lead the way, then?
no subject
[ She starts leading the way to the apartment. ]
I won't tell you much until we get to the apartment, though, because I think you might need a place to sit down when I tell you about all of this ...
no subject
[ He can tell from her tone of voice that things pretty much went to hell, didn't they. He's not sure if he's going to like what he hears, but he'll hold off on commenting until they're at the apartment and he hears her explanation. ]
no subject
[ It's a good thing that they're getting close to the apartment now, then! They just have to go up some stairs. ]
no subject
[ Well, that's good. Once they're safely in the apartment, Shing looks at her with a serious expression, sighing quietly and bracing himself for whatever she has to say. ]
Tell me, then. Tell me what happened... and don't hold back, okay...? I can handle it...
no subject
I don't know very much, so I can only really tell you what I've been told ... this place is called the Bastion. It's home to people across several worlds, who've ... had their worlds destroyed by something called The Calamity.
[ MIGHT AS WELL COME OUT WITH IT .... ]
no subject
[ Well, THAT part gets his attention, but it's only when the rest of Kohaku's explanation catches up with him that he freezes mid-expression, an arrested look on his face when the implications dawn on him.
. . .
oh.
. . .
oh.
... Shing goes completely silent, his hands clenched into fists and his body shaking from shock as he finally manages to glance at Kohaku out of the corner of his eye, disbelief evident in his gaze. ]
You're... you're serious about this... ?
[ He doesn't want her to be, but considering how serious Kohaku was acting the whole way to the apartment, it would definitely make sense... ]
no subject
I wouldn't say it if I weren't. I wouldn't joke about this.
[ Her voice grows softer, quieter. ]
I'm sorry ...
[ She's still feeling the pain of losing everything she knew back home. Getting Shing back was a comfort, but it only helped so much when there was so much more that they'd lost ... ]
no subject
[ He'd first felt this pain when he'd lost his Grandpa, revisiting it when he'd realized just how alone he was in the world when he and the others went to Norquin.
But now, now it was just... so much worse. The blow was softened by the fact that Kohaku was here, so it wasn't so bad, but... the loneliness and the loss, the whole gravity of the situation they're in now...
He's unable to handle it at all, and he just starts to break down quietly, sobbing and clinging to Kohaku, scared that she might disappear if he let go of her...
Because everything else had for him now. It was far worse now that almost everyone and everything he knew was gone... ]
no subject
She felt that, as someone who has been here for a while, it was her job to make sure she was strong for Shing.
So, she fought back the tears that threatened to spill over. She hung onto him, she let him know that it was okay to cry over this. She certainly had had her time to do that. ]
no subject
He continued to cling to her tightly, choking up and sniffling as he held onto her as a child would cling to a parent, or a security blanket of some sort... ]
Don't leave... I can't... afford to lose you...
no subject
[ She leans in to gently place a kiss to the top of his head, continuing to hold him tightly as he cried. ]
I'm here with you now. I won't be leaving. Not without a fight.
no subject
Kohaku was here. He was here. They were still alive. That was enough to convince him, at least, that they could still move forward. Especially since they were now together, too. ]
And neither will I... I'm not going anywhere either, Kohaku. Especially since I only just now found you again...
no subject
[ She manages a smile at him and gently brushes some tears from his face. ]
We'll stay together.
no subject
[ Shing's finally able to smile now... it's a teary smile, but still one nonetheless as he pulls her into a tight hug. ]
I love you, Kohaku...
no subject
I love you, too ...
[ She pulls away a little and brushes his bangs from his face. ]
Are you hungry at all? You should probably eat something.
no subject
[ Which becomes evident when his stomach rumbles rather loudly. Oops. ]
...
[ thanks for ruining the moment there ]
no subject
Come on, I can make you something.
no subject
[ Okay, wait, she probably will anyway just because he's here now, huh... ]
... scratch that, at least let me help you with that...?
[ Because let's be honest here, they both could use the distraction... ]
no subject
[ Damn it, Shing, let me be a waifu!! ]
no subject
[ He really doesn't, especially since, well, they're the only ones each other has. ]
no subject
You are never a burden.
no subject
... t-thanks.
[ Well, uh. He does look away for several moments, scratching the back of his head - and is reminded with a wince that his arm still stings a bit from the monster attack even though Kohaku healed him up nicely with that Heal spell of hers. ]
Ow... I think... I'll just... rest then...
[ Because he feels that she might just kick him to make him rest if he was stubborn enough about it. ]
no subject
I do have a bedroom, you know. You can go lay in bed and rest while I make you something. I have a little bit of food here, it shouldn't take long.
no subject
All right... but call me if you need anything, okay?
[ He nods quietly before letting her go do her... waifu thing as he shuffles off to the bedroom to rest. ]
