[Day 205] [CLOSED] When days seem meaningless don't go and lie
WHO: Rin and Bon
OPEN: Closed
WHEN: Day 205
WHAT: It's finally time to go home.
WHERE: Tower Apartments
FORMAT: Prose
WARNINGS: Rin being herself, couple talking about being a couple (Don't look, Yukio)
"I didn't think it was possible to miss this place as much as I did..."
It was hard to think of any place in the Bastion as strictly "home". The word may have been used, but for most it was with a tinge of something missing, something distant and long since destroyed. Right now, though? After spending as long as she did in the hospital, Rin was more than happy to consider this place as something closer to that.
She walked in with Bon (Yukio still at the hospital caring for those who were on the road to recovery) and haphazardly tossed her bag of belongings to the side in the living room, walking over to the couch and promptly faceplanting in to it.
"Mnnn couch..."
Yup. It was good to be back.

Which he's clearly gotten better about as well.
Speaking of, she's just going to casually roll over on her side again in his lap because this is comfortable and very pleasant.
"I'm really happy about that..."
no subject
Not that they don't have their arguments. And he's sure yelling will happen again sometime. They're both pig-headed and don't back down easily, they're bound to butt heads every now and then. But for the most part, getting along works for him.
no subject
But yes, for now, this is good.
She makes a hum of agreement and goes quiet for a time, almost dozing off until something gets her attention.
"... did you move some books from the shelf while I was gone?"
no subject
He almost misses her question at first, because he had started to drift off too.
"I grabbed one of the medicine books for Okumura-sensei, but otherwise no. Why?"
no subject
no subject
That is weird, to say the least. He doesn't suspect a thief right away, though.
"Maybe you misplaced them?"
no subject
Rin wasn't the most organized person ever, but two things were always taken care of - the kitchen, and the bookshelves. There was a lot that went over Rin's head because she simply didn't care, and it wasn't like she read a whole lot, but she did take care of the few books she had because Yuki would always throw a fit if she didn't.
Sitting up with a tired groan, she slipped off the couch and shuffled across the room, staring at the hole where the books had been. A bit of searching, and she realized they had been placed on the small end table between the two sofa chairs near the window.
"... that's... really weird."
no subject
"Who put these back all wrong? Some of Sensei's books are on my shelf, too."
no subject
Something settled ill in her gut then, reminiscent of the sickness when she was in the hospital. Her mind was further back, though, when she had been in possession of something potentially dangerous.
Wordlessly, she moved past Bon and in Yukio's room, only to leave again about a minute later and go in to their room.
"... Ryuuji!"
no subject
"What's wrong?"
no subject
Bon probably hadn't noticed in his tired state when he dropped the clothes off that their end table drawers were slightly ajar, their closet door was somewhat pushed open, and the third drawer of their dresser was more than halfway open with several items haphazardly shoved back in.
"Some one's been in our apartment..."
no subject
Some of this could be explained by Bon hurriedly grabbing clothes for Rin while she was at the hospital, but he didn't do all of this. He never would have left it this messy.
"But...why? We don't even have anything worth stealing! And we can make anything we need at the monument, there's no reason for anyone to come snooping in here!"
no subject
Rin wheeled around, blue eyes huge and hands shaking. She wasn't completely recovered and this kind of shock couldn't have been good for her current condition.
"S-some one must still be lookin' for that journal--! They thought we had it, because I was supposed to be the last person to have it! No one besides Colin and you knew that I'd given to to Zia, and Colin wouldn't do this!"
no subject
Bon couldn't panic, though. He had to keep a cool head, and bring Rin around.
"Who knew that you had it?"
Obviously whoever had gone looking for it didn't know that it wasn't here, which ruled out...a handful of people. Plus the people who had just arrived, they couldn't have possibly done this, they wouldn't have had a reason to. That would narrow it down a little bit, at least.
no subject
no subject
Bon didn't know Colin as well as Rin did, but if she's sure he wouldn't be after the journal, he'll trust her.
"Someone else has to know about it. That's the only explanation. Someone knows about the journal, and they found out that you had it somehow."
no subject
Some one had gotten information out of one of them and used the plague as an excuse to violate her personal space when she couldn't do shit about it.
As if she didn't already feel ill enough, this only served to make her stomach twist more, and she stumbled back a step from Bon with her arms around her middle, visibly shaking.
"What the hell is happenin' to this place...? If some one is goin' to that much trouble to get that journal..."
What did they want with it, and what did they intend to do with it?
"S... some one-- we need to warn Zia--... !"
no subject
Bon holds Rin up, not letting her fall to the floor. He sounds serious when he speaks, though.
"Whoever did this, they'll be watching us. They'll be expecting us to run right to whoever actually has the journal, and then they'll know just who to go after next. If we run to warn Zia, that'll just be painting a huge target on her back."
No, what they need is a plan, some way of misdirecting whoever was after the journal.
no subject
no subject
And from now on, they'll have to be extra-careful about letting anyone know about that journal, until they root out who the person is that's been looking for it.
no subject
Now that everyone was recovering, he didn't have to be at the hospital 24/7, and he would be coming home eventually. He would be able to see things out of place faster than the two of them had noticed.
no subject
"We can talk to him privately. He's smart, smarter than even me, maybe he can think of something we can do."
no subject
That she could agree with. Yukio was always the level headed one, and could handle this a lot better than she was right now, stuck somewhere between wanting to hide in her room forever with everything bolted down and wanting to find whoever this person was and punch them until they stopped moving.
"... I feel sick again. Damn it."
no subject
This probably isn't helping, either.
But Bon will move to scoot her towards the bed, so she can lay down and sleep for a bit.
no subject
She doesn't argue or resist getting moved to the bed, and Tepig (who had been exploring his new home quietly) padded up behind the two, hopping up on the bed so he could be with Rin while she rested.
