He knew that memory loss was what befell human contractors, but that had never hit one of them before if a contract was severed. Being an aspect of nature given form and sentience helped a lot in having them never forget such things like the humans who helped to give them personality and purpose as they used them to do what they were meant to do. Yet, for once the Seiryuu clan member was at a lost of how he ended up in a place that looked but didn't feel at all like the place of demons. Even the few creatures he had seen as he had ran towards the only city he could see were and were not like the demons and creatures that he had been created to fight.

He likely would find out what that was all about whenever he found Masaomi again. He had to be around somewhere because the contract was still there, wrapped around his being and linking him to his Toujinshi. For now there was a city to look through. For now he was just going to slowly give himself a tour of the city, his spear Gekiringa held loosely in one hand with the butt end lightly tapping the ground now again as he walked. Not caring at all at any odd looks he would get being an almost six foot bipedal, blue dragon like creature.

"Ne, Masaomi, it's hard to play hide and seek if you don't know who is supposed to be hiding you know."

Just when Zuko thougth she was used to the strange sorts of people who showed up at the Bastion... Well, this really wasn't any weirder than when either of the Ryus did their shapeshifting, but at least they didn't normally walk around like that. Was that what was going on here? Could part of that be armor? She had no idea, but at least one thing was clear.

"Looking for someone?"

He's obviously new to the Bastion, and it's off-putting how at ease he seems with his surroundings, like he has no sense whatsoever that anything is wrong. If he's in denial, he's pulling it off way better than Zuko ever could.

"My name is Zuko." Being called 'miss' just doesn't sound right. "Do you have any idea where you are?"

"The name doesn't sound familiar." All right, how is she supposed to break the news?

"I can show you the distillery if you think he'd be after food, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. The situation here is pretty bleak."

Zuko blinks, startled because that's the first time she's heard anyone but herself describe this place as 'out of balance.'

"Yeah..." she says slowly, then: "Are you a spirit?"

She's never considered before that someone from the spirit world might make it here, but it must be possible. It wouldn't really be like having someone from home, and she expects him to disprove it pretty quickly, but... it's worth asking.

"It's better than none," Zuko says, giving a quick bow. She was not expecting to be right about that. She didn't think a spirit would behave so casually, either.

"So does that mean..." She hesitates. How much do the spirits even know about the human world? "Do you know about the Four Nations, and the Avatar?"
daughterofursa: (I know)

"No... I know an exorcist here, but she's half-demon herself and definitely no Avatar."

She lets out a sigh. "Sorry. People come here from a lot of different worlds, and I thought... maybe ours were connected. I guess not." They don't even have demons where she comes from.

Zuko shrugs. "I'd never heard of demons before." They don't have them in her world, but if Rin is anything to go by, demons where she comes from are normal-looking enough. They just have tails and pointy ears or something.

"...I don't think it matters anymore. My world is gone, so there's nothing to find."

"I'm being realistic." Zuko folds her arms, her respect for this spirit somewhat diminished now that she feels like she's being patronized. It really is true that she's a pessimist, though.

"I've seen fragments of my world out there, and fragments of other worlds, and I've seen the dead statues on them. I'd be lucky to find even one person left alive besides me, and so would you."

"My luck's never run that way." Unless you count her winding up here, but that comes with a lot of survivor's guilt. "I have to focus on what I do have."
