[Haruka and Takane had some time to recover, though they had been instructed to get far more rest in the hospital for a little while longer before being let go to find their own apartment and settle in properly.
But being in the hospital was never fun.
Well, never fun for some one who didn't sleep for fifteen hours a day.
Like Takane.
For Haruka, though, he was beginning to get restless, and curious. He wanted to know what this place looked like beyond the walls of this hospital. Colin had given him a sketch pad, some pencils and even an iPad sort of device that he could do digital coloring on, but he could only draw Takane's face so many times before she threw a pillow at him and told him to draw something else.
So he waited until she was asleep (which meant he wasn't waiting long) and shuffled out of his bed, finding his legs shaky but strong enough to stand on. Items under one arm, still in his hospital tunic and pants, he made his way out of the doors.
There he stopped for a bit, just to stare at everything that was around him. There was evidence of the ruined world that Colin and the others had talked about, but there was still something amazing about what the Bastion was. The moon was high in the darkened sky above, illuminating the many buildings scattered across the massive hovering chunk of land in a pale glow. It was so pretty!
But he had seen something else out the small window in the hospital room, and after a bit of searching (and slow walking so he doesn't wear himself out) he came across the Dragonfield and the lake, that same moon shining silver against it's gently moving water.
Perfect place for a boy in a hospital tunic to drop down and start drawing, right?]

Congenital means "condition existing at or before birth". "Abnormality" would be closer to the truth than "damaged".
[Haruka could be a bit spacey, silly, and not always the most attentive person around but he wasn't stupid, and having had to deal with this condition for the better part of his teenage years meant a lot of personal research on his part.]
I was on medication for it, to try and regulate what was going on in there but... even on my medication, I had an attack. They finally put me through surgery for it, but that was right before we got here.
[So he really has no idea what the actual state of everything in his heart is right now, just that he had stitches and right now he feels pretty normal.]
no subject
[ Most of that makes sense, but the technical things - like how an 'abnormality' is different from 'damage', or if they can eclipse - isn't something that Duke understands. ]
I'm hoping that you're healed up from the surgery. I can clear that up for you, if you aren't.
no subject
Colin-san helped me with that already!
[He pulled the collar of his tunic down, showing a very very faint discoloration on his chest but otherwise no sign that he went under the knife.]
His technology is really amazing! And Okumura-sensei is a very good doctor, even though he's younger than me!
no subject
[ Surgery is a messy thing, okay? Duke is used to magic being the medical solve-all, unless something needs to be taken out. ]
I'll have to talk to them to see if they can figure out what the problem is. If it is some sort of damage, I can heal you without you needing to go into surgery again... I think.
no subject
If Colin-san already has that sort of technology, maybe he can look at my heart the way the doctors did back home. I'm not sure if he has an X-ray or an MRI but he's bound to have something, right?
no subject
He probably has something smaller that does the same thing.
no subject
I wouldn't be surprised at all! Ah... but how would you repair damage, if there is any?
no subject
[ Pretty much. ]
I didn't learn how to do anything for diseases, though, so if you have one of those, I can only undo the damage, not deal with the cause. ... Or, well, I can't unless we get some books and I spend a long time studying.

[I'm sorry Duke he didn't hear the rest of what you said because]
Actual magic not just pulling a rabbit out of a hat?!

no subject
That's like something out of a video game! Can you show me?! Please!
[Oh my god Haruka you can't just ask people to show you their magic.]
no subject
About that Duke..].. ah, well..
[ It is late at night. Its not like Duke is going to head out to the skyway until morning. ]
... It won't be terribly fancy, because the fancy stuff is really ... eyecatching.
[ Like meteors. Cue some pretty bright-gold white strings of fantasy math flickering under the knight's feet, then there's a globe out over the lake that shines, then bursts.
Okay, so that was eyecatching too. ]
no subject
And yes. That's quite eye catching. Haruka has practically lit up like that big of magic there, and he starts clapping excitedly as soon as it's over.]
That's amazing!
no subject
I'm glad you find it so. [ Its.. sort of a tool, to Duke. ]
But I'll bet you have somethings I find amazing - that 'video games', is it related to playing pictures?
no subject
... oh. You don't know what video games are?
no subject
[ Sheepish smile? Duke may have magic, but does not have technology. ]
.. If it helps, we had something else instead of that.. plug it into the wall, and it runs stuff....
[ Duke did you not bother learning what made your lights work other than that "this makes the lights work and its strange".... ]
no subject
[Wow, Duke.]
Well, video games are sort of the same! But they're interactive!
[He flips a few pages back in his sketch book, showing Duke some drawings of a girl with pigtails and a gasmask and a boy with... a lot of belts, for some reason.]
See, these two, I made them characters in different video games! Ahh... I wish I could show you. Headphone Actor was really fun to make! And Dead Bullet is such a cool game, even if it is really violent!
no subject
.... Do they need silly names?
[ Bullets make things dead... ]
... I'm guessing these are headphones? [ They're on the sketch's head, so. ]
no subject
[Because Takane.]
Mhm!
