Seimei accompanying the twins had been for the best, in the end. Had someone else not been there, they might very well have wallowed in memories and grief and ended up in terrible trouble. Their losses were far greater than his own. He shared in a loss of cultural identity, but so far as friendships and family went the onmyoji had very little to lose in the first place, so what was taken from him hurt significantly less. He didn't bother disabusing the boys of the nothing that the people they cared about very well could show up - he too believed in that fact.
Izumo was not a place terrible close to his heart - very few things were, and he wasn't surprised that his mother's forest wasn't what churned up. He was grateful, really; the last thing he wanted was to search those great woods and find nothing. Even so, Izumo Village had many precious plants he harvested for a variety of reasons, and if there were any artifacts of his age, he wanted to find out and bring them home, much like the pieces of the music room that were intact enough to return with. Those things mattered.
"I would be happy to have you both along with me, but I warn you, if it is the same Izumo Village of my own, it is a graveyard. It is a sad and lonely place full of those people slain by the Mikado in an age passed. It will not be a place full of happy memories like your music room."
