Dad's temple, it wasn't very popular, because of the Blue Night. But there were still people who called on Dad, and the Shima family, and the others too, to do rites for the dead. I never had to help, but I saw them, sometimes.

Sometimes a husband died, and the wife let the grief eat her alive. Within a couple months we'd be back doing rites for her. Or sometimes a kid died young, and the parents never recovered, and became hollow shells that vaguely resembled people. It was horrible to see.

Don't let that happen to you. Whether it means being by yourself, or finding someone new, don't become hollow like that.
